Running on the track. I had no problem running around as part of a sport but I detested doing the timed mile test.

I honestly loved PE, but on that random day where we had to just run ugh.

I was in cross country, so mile days were my jam. I guess the volleyball days were my least favorite I can think of, since I had shit form and my hands always hurt afterward.

I forgot what it was called but you would run from court side to the other on a buzzer, each round the timer for the buzzer gets shorter and the teachers would count how many rounds you would last, that shit killed your sides bro

That's a beep test.

I loved most things in PE, except cross country running and the high jump. Cross Country, you could at least sneak off for a cigarette. High jump, I just could not do. Even the short, fat kids were better than me. I gave up trying and sat it out.

I hated everything in PE that related to sports/team stuff/group activities. So I enjoyed anything where we had to do something for a solo grade like run a mile in 20 mins or using workout equipment.

Wrestling was probably my least favorite activity.

Yep that one, I did low 40s when I was a little kid and kids were talking about a 5th grader that did 99 laps and thought it was impossible until the end of the school year they let the little kids watch the 5th grades do the Pacer in PE

It's the beep test or the pacer, back in the day they didn't have music playing you just waited for the beep. On YouTube you see all sorts of remixes with music lmao

Oh yeah, those days always sucked ass too. In 9th grade I was lucky enough that there was somebody who was actually less fit than me but he moved and then I was stuck being the loser that ruined it for everybody by taking 15 minutes to finish and still feeling like I was going to vomit by the end.

Volleyball because my school was really good in it so they used the gym class as extra practice time for the kids on the squad, and then those who weren't just played rec/fuckaround. It meant there was always a superteam that stomped us, and there was virtually zero skills development because the gym teachers just focussed on the team kids. Also, it hurt my god damn arms.

Gym Class Activity tier list, spanning grades K - 12:

S tier: Ball hockey, European Handball
A tier: Dodgeball, Weightlifting, Wrestling
B tier: Basketball, The Parachute game, Soccer-Baseball/Kickball
C tier: Lacrosse, Soccer, Flag Football, Distance Running
D tier: Square dancing, The Beep Test, Baseball
F tier: Volleyball, Health+Sexuality class

Lacrosse would be higher but very few people could functionally play so it made it lame. Baseball is so low for the same reason, plus its just too slow // to much standing around for it to be a good gym activity. Edit: added distance running. it's only redeeming factor was we got to go out and about through a nearby forest to trail run, or, around the neighbourhood, so it was cool to change it up. But it was also rain-or-shine (or snow), and i have not-so-fond memories of jogging in +5C weather with snow flurries/drizzle along a puddly sidewalk

Any form of ballroom dancing, square dancing, etc. It was humiliating and it always turned into a cluster fuck. I cant believe that the curriculum forces something a ridiculous as square dancing.

We ran like soldiers and didnt complain. We would run every day for eight to ten minutes as a warmup (easily a mile) and we were forced to run for the entire class many times. Its a wonder that I was so out of shape in those times

Gymnastics
I can tough out a run or play a sport adequately enough for PE. I can climb a rope or do some sort of pushup challenge.

I'm not flexible though. I've never been flexible and I'm never gonna be flexible. Doing rolls and stuff would leave me sore for weeks after. Fuck that shit. If I'm gonna do gymnastics, let me jump on that spring board or some shit. Dont make me do weird stuff.

When we had to do our physicals in middle school, the school nurse who did the hernia tests was the mom of a fellow classmate. So a lot of kids were bragging to said classmate that his mom grabbed their balls. One even admitted that he got a boner when it happened.

change this to flag or touch football then its pretty much the same. You had a few kids who took it way too seriously. Was my turn to hike the ball to whoever was the rotated quarterback, kept screaming obscenities at me because I tossed it too high, too hard, or too low. Freaking relax man.
