And yet it was made in 1993! Anyway, Jade is the childhood friend of a princess who rebelled against her father. When said father told Jade to go capture her, Jade joined her instead. This is why you don’t send emotionally compromised people to do your bidding, that’s like Evil Emperor 101, man.

Jade is pretty dang hot. I’ve said that before about some waifus, and it’s always true. In fact, she’s probably being held back by that weird mouth veil thing and she still is this hot. Good hair, good color scheme, good legs, and her costume is pretty freaking ridiculous. Vaguely related: the most ridiculous video game costume I know of is the princess from Prince of Persia 2.

Jade’s personality is also pretty good. Totally loyal to her friend, dependable, devoted, and sincere, while also sassy toward her enemies. Am I supposed to find that unreasonable? Good for her.

Like many awesome adventurer chicks, her PWC is where is kind of falls apart. In addition to living in another dimension and to being an adventurer and to regularly getting her spine ripped out of her body, Jade is super dedicated to Kitana, which implies that she won’t have a lot of time for me. In fact, I might have overrated her PWC, but oh well.

I’ve said similar things before about other waifus, but so be it: Jade is a cool girl and everything, but purely as a waifu, I doubt things would easily work out.

Velvet is definitely a top tier Tales character.

Magilou is better but Velvet is the superior waifu of the two.

I only know Symphonia's characters, so my waifu knowledge is limited to Sheena, Collette, and Presea.

There's also the fact that everything in MGS2 led up to its twist, even down to things like the way hallways were designed, whereas that's not the case in MGSV. You just get a hint every so often.

I know nothing about Tales of Berseria, but based on this picture, I assume it’s a world where a rabies-infected fashionista tore apart everyone’s clothes, sewed the scraps back together at random, and told everyone that it was the new style, then everyone just went with it. Anyway, Velvet is the lead of the game, a human with the powers of a daemon.

Looks-wise, Velvet is pretty dang hot, coming in at a cool #13 overall. I can forgive the impractically long anime hair (though in complete fairness, I did once see a woman with hair this long, life must have been miserable for her), I love the bangs, and she somehow pulls off the asymmetrical clothing. I’m sure in real life this would be just about the silliest, most skin-exposing thing ever, and I still don’t know what the belts wrapped around her shin are for, but there’s really not much to go over here, she’s just dang hot.

I may have slightly overrated her Personality, though. She was oncea kind girl “too athletic to land a husband” (c’mon, Japan, just c’mon), but seeing all of her family and friends massacred, after which she became vengeful and hateful. She has every right to be angry after that, but it might make her a little unpleasant. Still, at least I know that if I get killed by demons that she’ll probably avenge me, so that’s worth a point, right?

I gave her an average PWC score despite being a demon-eating adventurer because she does have a relationship with a boy she befriends. It’s kind of cute that she gets jealous over him even talking to other girls. Eh, it amuses me.

Overall, she’s probably a little too much trouble to be a proper waifu, but I can imagine something working out if you’re patient.

Yeah, I've seen that argument before too, but Ocelot every other time was a weird torture fetishist who loved his specific Colt revolver and insanely convoluted plans. The only torture he does in this game is presented like a grim necessity he takes no pleasure in, he uses a different gun for no reason, and I guess he still has a weird plan, but that's about it. As far as it matters he's a completely different person in this game, which you can argue makes sense, but this Ocelot is less interesting than the wacky version in other games.

I feel conflicted about the game. It's got a fantastic skeleton of gameplay, but almost no bosses or really complex interesting areas to infiltrate ala Groznyj Grad. It's just "go here, blow up this thing" or "go here, kill/kidnap this guy" missions repeated ad naseum.

It also doesn't help that Ocelot acts nothing like himself, Snake is boring (I know it's the point to have a stand-in for the player this time, but he's still boring), and there's no real CODEC. And if you want to listen to the tapes during missions, you should have some way to pause them when characters interrupt to tell you about the mission.

Spoilers for Silent Hill 3. I want you all to know that this is the second sentence in the Heather Mason Wiki page: Heather… is on a mission to get revenge and kill God. That’s pretty metal.

Looks-wise, we’ve already gone over my love for blond hair, but now it’s worth mentioning my love for freckles. I can’t pin down what it is exactly, but freckles are very cute on a girl. I’m thinking she doesn’t dress very practically, I can’t think of a situation where you’d want a short skirt and a sleeveless wintery vest, but I’ll just chalk that up to weird Japanese fashion tastes. Unfortunately, most of the images I could find of Heather show her looking distressed instead of like happy or calm, so this was one of the better ones.

Personality-wise, she’s kind, snarky, and blunt. I see no problems about this, I like snarky humor and bluntness helps with that. Am I supposed to find it a problem that she gets frustrated easily when in Silent Hill and chased by a crazy fetus cult? Because I don’t. I would probably be a bit moody there too, and I wouldn’t be wearing a skirt. I’m just assuming skirts are colder than pants, I’ve never actually worn one.

PWC-wise, Heather knows how to defend herself (in a more realistic way than other waifus below her) and she likes classic literature, and I’m a classic literature guy. She doesn’t seem to have any real job, but since she’s seventeen I can probably overlook that.

Overall, Heather seems like a solid B waifu. She might be higher depending on your personal preference for horror.

Hildegard von Mariendorf is a high-ranking noblewoman who’s more interested in boy activities like military and political pursuits. Okay.

It’s kind of amazing that this was the hottest picture I could find of Hildegard. There’s nothing structurally wrong with her, it all comes down to presentation. She dresses super androgynously to the point where I wouldn’t be able to tell what gender she is but for earrings, and only in this picture does she have that ponytail. That said, she’s not like ugly or anything, she just likes a style I don’t like. And what’s weird is that apparently multiple characters remark on her hotness?

Personality-wise, she’s smarter than most everyone else, but she’s also super ruthless in the war the series is about. She also apparently talks really bluntly? That seems like a questionable attribute in someone who’s into politics. That said, I see no real problems here.

Her PWC is where she shines. As far as I can tell, she’s pretty much almost always right, she’s smart, she’s good at everything she wants to be good at, she has like a good, real job that gives her a lot of power and influence (not that I benefit directly from it, but hey), and she seems to always be professional and loyal. It’s hard but not impossible to do better than this. Also she probably speaks German.

Overall, I suspect Hildegard is the most politically powerful waifu on this list, so if you’re power-hungry, she’s probably the best option. Otherwise, she’s still damn good.

Wooooooh boy Deathmatch is not good on levels other than Château. They should have just stuck with the one like they did for 3v3 at first.
