But yeah, 20 hours seems a good way to honor the actual giants whose shoulders we stand on, the engineers, scientists, designers, doctors, etc... that made a modern life full of conveniences that serve us, rather than we serving a rigged system.

No one who thinks forty hours of work isn't a lot hasn't worked a real job in their lives, and those who may be the outlier type person that enjoys repetitive, or highly stressful work are the rare exception among that tier of wealthy person.

They keep trying to sell us the old paradigm of work for work's sake, but how hard are the people collecting the profits working?

Elon Musk worked 10 hours today - he spent three hours on a plane talking on the phone to people who have to kiss his ass, and the rest going to a business dinner and jerking off around his posh billionaire office so he can make decisions that lose more money then you will make working for him over ten thousand years.

It's insanity.

It's undercutting an industry and driving down wages while exploiting workers who sacrifice their own vehicles to be on an app that takes ultimately extracts most of the profit from your labor. It's an objectively exploitative model.

I'm not here to say taxi and driver services were perfect and they probably needed some updating, but clearly this is a crisis created by lack of good public transportation and wage stagnation.

You mention "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" but as an 80s kid, while that movie was popular for kind of edgy and your parents didn't want you to watch it (along with Porky's), teen movies like Teen Wolf, Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, and Ferris Bueller's Day off were more popular with their PG ratings and more fantastical elements.

The 90s... didn't have a lot of theatrical teen comedies that I can remember even as a teen in the 90s... we hated most of them and they mostly missed. You had a bunch of total bombs with execs trying to shove garbage movies with bad actors like Pauly Shore down our throats.

The late 90s and 2000s had the Disney Channel and Nick etc... pumping out "teen movies" that were geared to teens and kids with much more family friendly themes and situations.

My boss at my last job was like that, when we had downtime because of machine maintenance he would say you need to be sweeping or something not talking.

The American workplace is an absolute literal dictatorship, and the American worker is either too divided or indoctrinated into libertarian brain rot to understand this.

Also, this specific example... I would tell your boss. "I'm not a child, and this is not my mandated public education. Can we treat one another as adults, please?"

If you have time to micromanage your employees, you have time to address the health code and safety violations your CEO lobbied congress to enforce less aggressively.

These boomers actually grew up in a slower, less demanding time - they were the benefactors of the New Deal and US military supremacy and had more opportunity and comfort than every generation after.

The problem is that the drivers doing this full time or that might have been taxi/limo or various driving jobs were not okay with it when Uber and Lyft came in and drove down wages.

Is the man hiding in the bushes a target of police brutality, or an actual rapist evading capture... or is it a crazy person about to harm themselves or someone else, and since we lack the proper resources and personnel to effectively deal with such individuals as a society, the police officer would at least be the most efficient way to get this person out of harms way and into the state medical facility they may need to be in to prevent harm?
