I mean, plenty of people (including myself) asked this question leading up to both Fallout 4 and Starfield, so...I can't say I'm holding my breath on Bethesda correcting course. On the other hand, ES is their bread-and-butter series. They aren't starting a bland new IP from scratch (Starfield), and they aren't taking the reins of a preestablished franchise (Fallout); so ES6 has a higher chance of being good / enjoyable even if they stay on their current course, simply by virtue of the wealth of in-house series lore a new entry can piggyback off of.Nobody plays ES for the lore --- Common sense says it may not taste good, but it'll make a turd. |

It's a great game. The story was jaw-dropping if you're into space/sci-fi. The only thing mediocre thing about it is the exploration. Games like Elden Ring, Tears of the Kingdom, and maybe Dragon's Dogma 2 (based on what I have seen) gives me hope that open world games can still be innovative. The rest? Oh there's plenty for me. Outlast Trials just came out and I'm loving it and recently picked up Remnant 2, which does not have the issue of abundance of loot. Games doing generic open world stuff for the past 15 years is the real problem.
