Really there's a ton of stuff that could be done to resist these orders, technologically. Especially since the security has been greatly weakened. But government employees aren't motivated to do it. There's no one who actually cares about systems at that level, it just hobbles forward like a zombie. If Trump's people want to kill it, then it will die without a fight.

It's the bureaucracy. There's no single person to point at. It's "fix these things or we'll permanently delete them". Orders come from above and admins scanned and reported.

It might not be a single person but there are people physically (or digitally or whatever) doing it. Bureaucracy isn't a force of nature, it's just a bunch of people following procedures. Those people have names, though you might not always know them.

We have to review all the grants we are receiving at the hospital where I work to check for words like that. Because apparently if the Grant contains any of thw wrong words it will be automatically cancelled. This includes Grants we were already rewarded and haven't fully spent/received the funds.

Trump says Palestinians should be relocated out of Gaza to Egypt or Jordan - apparently because the US "will take over the Gaza Strip" - sending US troops there if necessary - so we can "develop it."

So I guess Trump just wanted to do the ethnic cleansing himself instead of leaving it to Israel.

I play video games, watch anime, and lately I have been taking better care of my health. I am down 20 pounds since last autumn and my blood sugar is doing better too. My only route rn is to keep sane and make sure I outlive my enemies.

I nearly threw up last night, especially after my girlfriend was literally crying because she's an immigrant and worried something will happen to her. I'm telling her that things will probably be okay for us, but still, her fears aren't completely unfounded.

I actually watched the video of Trump talking about this because I hate myself, its actually even more deranged than youd think. 1) Poorly :D but I don't have really the luxury of being able to get in my head about it, gotta do what I can and take care of myself as best as I can
2) Push back. Call out dudes who say crap things, because they'll listen to you a lot better than they'll listen to a woman or a black person or a trans person or an immigrant. Refuse unjust orders, especially if they don't actually have legal weight behind them like the EOs, or at least find ways to gum em up a bit. Pressure lawmakers. Give direct aid. Loudly announce the presence of La Migra. Protest if you can. Be ready to intervene if you see somebody being victimized.

Generally I dont find being smug helpful. What annoys me about this though is the people urging others to not go for a compromise vote were eager to blame those voters for their vote, yet cant handle getting the blame themselves. Dont dish it out if you cant take it.

I think I'd feel better about smugness from the center if the dems were showing any kinda fight whatsoever. They were always gonna just cave, they just have an excuse to do it faster now. Faster than even I expected, even! I don't know which side of the third party debate was "right," and in fact flipflopped on it several times myself, but for the moment I'm still standing by my vote. It's also pretty hard for me to look favorably upon the "enjoy the camps!" side of the argument.

Focus on what you can do, and let what you can't do go, as best you can. The zone is flooded, you can't fix everything. Organize locally, pick an issue or two to focus on. A bunch of people doing a bunch of small things is I think going to be more effective than one big thing that'll probably just get outmuscled. I can't overturn the government, but I can slip twenty bucks to somebody trying to get out of Florida or Gaza, or say something when I hear bigotry, or delete Twitter, or make sure to provide needed accommodations for disabled people.

Find marginalized people to listen to, and actually listen to them. (and amplify) Keep the doomposting to yourself (and try to avoid doomscrolling in the first place)- there's a difference between staying informed and spinning your wheels in panic or despair, and dragging people down with you to inaction. You gotta take care of yourself or you won't be of use to anybody else. Gum things up. Put pronouns in bios and signatures. Join boycotts where you can. Collect and archive things (books, websites, articles, videos, anything really), because they're purging a lot of science and art and history.

I believe it was John Fetterman who said that Dems didnt need the support of Hamas supporters (referring to the Palestinian group that wanted to speak at the DNC), so instead of mocking the suffering of Gaza and people whose red line was supporting a genocide, lets all mock Fetterman and the other Dems who agreed that the Palestinians dont deserve rights, pushing those voters away.
