Yep, I feel genuinely sorry for anyone who voted Harris who has to suffer under whatever hell Trump and/or Vance unleash. No empathy from me to all the Trumpers/Project 2025 fans though. I might even join their crowd come January and report any Trumper I suspect of being an illegal and any Trumper who is making money under the table or anything else dodgy since its what they support/voted for. The right has made significant efforts in demonizing teachers and public education as a whole. At least here in the rural Midwest, it has been successful. Lots of people legitimately believe teachers are turning their kids gay and trans.

When issues of importance were talked about, and Harris focused heavily on abortion, that was effectively game over for her campaign.

One poll stated:

39% = Economy
20% = Border Crisis
11% = Abortion
30% = Combination of everything else

So, she ending up focusing on roughly a 1 out of 9 voter ratio issue in the country for good chunk of her limited 3+ month campaign. Yeah, that's not going to do much for your chances on winning large voter blocks over.

Also, she flip flopped on a lot on her stances, confusing voters, and her messaging was poor, the commonly tagged *word salads* that regularly explained nothing to the general public. Certain people felt there might of been little reason to vote, or for some Democrats that did, chose to give Harris a big *NO* and vote Trump instead.

I feel the choice of Walz for VP helped doom her campaign further. I don't think that one needs much further explanation.

I'll admit most my hesitancy in voting her was due to her stances seeming to change to try and find what people wanted to hear. I didn't think she actually intended to do some of the stuff she was saying. Her track record and previous campaigns speak otherwise.

If Trump stopped talking like the last week before the election and so many of my coworkers hadn't kept spouting conspiracy stuff to me the last week, I likely would have voted Trump. Was just tired of the negativity and baseless conspiracy stuff. And Kamala at least tried to present a positive message.

If Trump ends the Department of Education and funding for IEPs go away, I will parody him.

Well, Walz openly admited he was a knucklehead on live TV during the VP debate.

Vance didn't even have to do anything with that one!

I just saw a Facebook video of Trump saying he plans to remove birthright citizenship day 1, a pretty fundamental change to the concept of America.

I would say "This violates the 14th amendment" but we all know the constitution doesn't matter to the supreme court. They'll be like "Well actually, when the 14th amendment was written it was only meant blah blah blah" and the 6-3 decision will have the liberal justices looking at the others like "WTF?"

At this point, I just want to get out of the States as fast as possible.

This is the same strategist who went on TV in 2020 and said she wouldnt vote, even if it meant Trump won, if Bernie was the nominee.

Shapiro wins Pennsylvania and loses Michigan, meaning the election is still lost.

Honestly it seems that this election bordered on unwinnable thanks largely to the economy. Things like a different VP pick are just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

Yes, that strategist was stupid and should have been fired immediately.

Shapiro would have killed ALL enthusiasm. Walz infused the campaign with even more enthusiasm as he drew wide support all over the spectrum. He wouldn't have even guaranteed Pennsylvania. And don't get me started with Arab voters not wanting to vote for the guy who compared Gaza protesters to the KKK.

I'm absolutely dumbfounded by the idea that anyone thinks Josh Shapiro would have been the difference in carrying Pennsylvania

Walz was extremely popular and spearheaded the most effective attack against Trump of the entire campaign. Finding the most left wing person connected to the campaign and going "mm hmm it was their fault!" is probably not the most effective way of troubleshooting what went wrong!

Nah. It's the same way people can blame "congress" for being wasteful but adore their own senator for bringing $ into the state.
It's not a real comparison that can be taken seriously.

Eh. They did way better than they should've in 2022. I can understand them going "actually maybe we're ok" even if they probably shouldn't have. Things might've gone much better if they got their teeth knocked in during the midterms as is tradition.

This is also explained by voters expecting Trump to win and voting for Democrats in Congress to restrain him.

I would totally go for an anti-leech policy that eliminates funding for both suburbs and illegal immigrants who don't pay taxes.

I suspect that would be highly unpopular though. The vast majority of the electorate is actually in favor of continually draining city budgets to fund suburbs, and they vote as such very strongly and consistently. They actually don't give a shit about cities after the white flight era. Never have, never will. They just want more of the city money for themselves. They see it all as one big pie that they deserve.

We should've lost in 2020. Let Trump bare the brunt of his bad policies instead of fixing things for everyone. Gas prices would've rose, things would overall be worse, but we could have instead come into 2024 as the saviors from Trumpism without ever moving to the right on anything or relying on the 8 or so Republicans who voted for a democrat becuase Trump was appalling. Probably could have had the senate in 2022, and probably the house too.

Covid would've been a lot worse, though. But at least our suffering would be over.

Having said that yeah if things arent completely screwed up if Trump wins in 2020 Democrats win in 2024. Whoever was the opposition was going to win. This is a global pattern. Just like 2008.

The subprime mortgage crisis was a whole decade of brewing. It just coincided with Bush exhausting the public with his wars. Obama took the DNC by surprise with his populism. It scared them so fucking much they literally robbed Bernie in 2016 when Bernie's populism was the only thing that could have defeated Trump.

BUT I do think there's a valid chance that these 4 years are still disastrous for Trump, he gets defeated hard in 2026, and everyone is done with him by 2028. In that case, it's very very good that we had the economic recovery in between his 2 terms. Economics are exponential, so 2 terms in a row could've been soooo much worse.
