I can see a world where the Democrats are desperate enough to actually try this. The same people who have been pushing to abolish the filibuster and thought Harry Reid getting rid of the filibuster for judicial appointments in 2013 was a good idea would probably go for it.

Thankfully, Mitch McConnell at least is still for keeping the filibuster even though the Republicans appear to be set for the trifecta and the filibuster is the only thing stopping them from passing all the laws they want.

Why are so many people convinced Trump is going to eliminate term limits? He doesn't really care all that much about the actual job of being president, just the attention and the immunity from prosecution. He doesn't need to be president for life to have either of those things at this point.

But yeah, Trump's economic success his first term largely stemmed from doing nothing and I think he's aware of that, despite what he says. I think of Obama/Trump/Biden (and the last 3 months of Bush Jr.'s presidency) as one era in economic policy in which the solution to everything has been to have the Federal Reserve print money.

Trump is most likely planning to golf much more than his first term and issue tweets from time to time calling for the Fed to cut interest rates, which they are already doing anyway.

No need to abolish term limits to stay in power if they can cripple the ability of an opposition party to function at a national level.

There are still the NY and GA criminal cases against him outstanding, and they could potentially be revived after he leaves office. Maybe even the federal cases - it's not clear if a self-pardon will hold up and a future administration could conceivably prosecute him again since the original cases were never brought to trial.

It's so cute how people think Republicans wouldn't find a way to make it so Obama can't run again, but Trump could.

Things they could do:
-Supreme Court rules the 22nd Amendment only applies to having 8 consecutive years!
-Republicans proclaim that Donald Trump was President in 1951 and therefore the ammendment as written does not apply to him.
-State that it only applies to Democrats because the only President to have more than 2 terms was a Democrat
-Write legislation that still adheres to the 22nd amendment, but makes the 22nd amendment null for the current President at the time the legislation is written

I'm pretty sure it would take nigh-superhuman effort to abolish the 22nd Amendment so we aren't likely to see Trump run again in 2028. Where we go from here is anyone's guess and depends entirely on the chaos about to unfold.

Trump doesnt care about doing a good job so they have a solid four years with all three branches of government to **** around and find a way to maintain power essentially forever.

Speaking of Term Limits, one of the very first things he said in his most recent video he put out was that he wants to institute term limits for Congress, lol.

There's no way he's getting exiling himself to Moscow if he leaves office. So in all likelihood he will visit Moscow with about 6 months left of his presidency and just not leave. That is if he doesn't execute a false flag event around the next presidential election and declare martial law and suspending all future elections.

I don't think Trump will run for a 3rd term or try and stay in office longer than 4 years. I also don't think he will ever get more than a fine maybe some business sanctions from any court case.

in other words when Biden stepped aside and then immediately endorsed Harris, this was not the plan. this is their way of blaming Biden, to say "oh it's his fault this happened." idea is that it's not Obama's fault, the DNC's fault, nobody else's but Biden.

Okay none of this actually mattered in this election. Especially by October people just weren't buying what Harris was selling.

All people wanted was "Trump economy" and literally nothing registered with the public. The election was basically unwinnable because of conditions handed to us by Trump.

That yeah.

Basically two things registered with the public "border crisis" and "trump economy".

The solutions to either didn't mean shit. People seemed to be completely tuned out to just about everything sold by both sides.

If there is something to blame its probably just the media that normalized Trump to the point people somehow didn't feel uncomfortable voting for him.

People basically agreed they didn't like Trump, they just didn't care because money and they blamed immigrants for phantom woes.

And seemingly nothing the Harris campaign said registered at all or if it did people were long, long predisposed to voting for Trump no matter what.

Basically that.

I see Nevada is called for Donald Trump.

For battleground swing states, that's now 6-0 for Donald Trump in the 2024 election.

Harris looks to potentially be sweeped by Trump in battleground swing states 7-0.

Nothing.

Everyone is coming out of the woodwork with hypothetical speculation, but it's extremely important that understand that hypotheticals are not reality. Trumpism is fundamentally about a detachment from reality, so the best way to fight against it is to aggressively support reality and only reality.

People elected Trump in a landslide, there's nothing anyone could've done, that's it. (Other than maybe the assassins)

One little tidbit about Trump winning non consecutive terms:

Trump was president in June of 2018 when FIFA awarded the World Cup hosting rights to Canada, Mexico & United States. Having Trump's second term delayed by 4 years results in him being the active US president during the run of the 2026 World Cup event.
