Still a bit shook up over it, but at least was able to sleep a few hours after it all went down

Basically ordered some food delivery for lunch earlier today. Wasn't really paying attention to the tracker as I was playing some Dragon's Dogma. Heard a loud crashing sound outside, but didn't think much of it at the time. A minute or two later I looked at the tracking and realized the order was here and that crashing might have been related to that. I open my front door to see the person with my food slouched over on the steps leading up to my apartment. They were unresponsive and not breathing as far as I could tell.

After panicking for another minute I called 911 and they had me roll the person over on their back and give chest compressions until the paramedics could arrive. While doing that I could tell this person was unconscious and IMO possibly already gone. Paramedics took over and couldn't get a pulse and carried them off and the police asked me about what happened.

....and that was it was a pretty surreal experience and I guess you never know when it'll happen to you. Not sure if this person had a heart attack or what and I don't know if I'll ever find out :|

I hope you left a tip for the next of kin.

What a way to die. You're delivering food to someone, who hears you keel over, but is too busy playing video games to check on you right away.

I ordered some food a few months back and based on the tracker, the guy was stopped a few blocks from my place for like an hour so I gave up and cancelled it. In the moment I was irritated but now I'm hoping he's alright

This is way more morbid than i expected this to go.

Thanks, but yeah I think I'm okay now. I had a hard time falling asleep earlier (since i'm currently working nights so I sleep in the afternoons), but took some melatonin gummies to help with that.

After the initial panic to actually call 911 I think I stayed pretty calm during the actual call and helping them as best I could.

Also for those wondering after it was all over one of the paramedics handed me my delivery. After letting it sit in my fridge for 2 hours I ended up tossing it because I couldn't bring myself to eat it after what had happened. Was this tarnishing their legacy maybe but I couldn't do it

That sounds super rough. I hope that guys okay obviously, but also hope youre doing good.

This is a bad thing. You should have donated it to someone hungry.

Even so, I get the trauma. Sorry you had to go through that... and thoughts and hugs to this person's loved ones, too. Hope they're okay.

Jesus, that all sounds very disturbing. Sorry to hear it happened, you really do never know when something crazy like this will happen near you and it sounds like you did the most you could have for the guy.

Mate, that is rough! That kinda shit stays with you. I hope you're doing OK, and I hope for a positive outcome for the driver (if possible)

Oh RIP. I don't really follow my religion nowadays but it's said that people who pass while doing their job (provided it's nothing harmful, of course) get to go to the good place. It's a reassuring thought.

Sorry to hear about this. I'm not sure if this'll make you feel better but at least this person wasn't on the road when this happened, since other people could've been hurt too in that case.

This is actually a good reminder to me that when I take walks or ride my bike, it's good to take my phone with me, in case something like this happens.

I had something similar happen to me at Family Dollar. The lady also passed away, but they revived her long enough to keep her in a coma until her family could come to town. (I actually thought the lady survived at first, since the paramedic came back and said they got her breathing and that she was in a coma, but the lady's daughter came back and said her mother passed)

So what actually happened? You heard a "crash," but were they hit by a car? Did their car hit something? Whatever it was, it didn't catch your attention enough to check immediately (and no, you should not feel guilty about that.)

I had assumed it was one of the neighbors and didn't bother to check. It was after I noticed it was past when my tracker said the delivery would be and I checked that I saw their little blip on the map was right outside my apartment and not moving

I've called 911 for someone before but never like that. Goodness, sorry that happened like that.

personally I woulda finished the meal. like how you finish a guy's last cigar(ette) or drink. I would have felt so guilty but this probably would've happened no matter what he was doing
