As I recall Chris forced Sultan to claim in their chat and Sultan claimed vanilla. This means that while he didn't know the Chris was prosty, he did already commit to a vanilla claim that Chris could reveal and get him busted even if someone else saw him move, so him not acting that night doesn't mean much imo

As for meta-commentary, I thought it was funny that Ulti rolled Leonardo DiCaprio. I felt like he would probably enjoy that sort of thing as it kind of fits his grandiose personality. Yeah, literally no one else is going to know anything about this particular flavor at all but its my game and I want to talk about her. Regan is bipolar and suffering greatly under the expectations of her overbearing parents. The process through which she falls in love with Aldo Damiani, to me, perfectly encapsulates the magic and whimsy of falling in love. Its messy, and its complicated, but the big, raw emotions of love feel so real. It certainly doesnt hurt my appreciation for this book in particular is heavily influenced by my own previous relationships, which mirror in some ways the love (and struggles) that Regan and Aldo face.

Hey society, what the fuck? She literally told him exactly what she wanted from the moment they met! Not even a smidge of leading him on, and he still got mad for not being the version of her that he made up in his imagination! JGL himself seems like an alright guy though!

So we're in agreement that the game would just be over if scum wasn't paired yesterday, right? So this day comes down to Sultan deciding between Dumey/JC and FD/MZero?

Good game FD/MZero. You guys stayed out of the end of day chaos every time. Kind of annoying that MZero was one of them, but what can you do? It town's fault for never being able to make a decision before the last hour of the day more than your fault for existing.

- Thank you to everyone for playing in my very first game as host! It was a bit ambitious (as will literally every game I ever design will be), but I'm more or less pleased with how it went and how interested everyone was in playing!

- apologies for not ending the game last night if you feel it should have ended then - it was the subject of much debate in the DTC. Ultimately, I think scum should have to fear the possibility of a remaining power role that could possibly prevent them from ending the game and actually pair on 5 to seal it. It's conceivable that they could get really paranoid and not do so, so I don't think it's an automatic win per se.

- The discord parts of the game went off without a hitch and I think I got all of the backend configured correctly to where there were almost zero issues. Kudos to me on figuring all of that out.

- my one TRUE regret this game is that I didn't give Miller a (weak) power to go with it to make sure that it wasn't too jester-y. I was worried that the optimal play as Miller would just be to die, and well....

-I knew scum was favored in this format but didn't know by how much. It's definitely possible that a 3/14 split could have been fine as well, what with scum being able to end with 5 alive.

-speaking of which, if you know scum has two players alive on 7 and they can win on 5, you should ALWAYS be triple killing on 7. None of this "let's put everyone with their most likely scum pair" nonsense. Kill 3 people and if you hit one scum, you get to play out a final day with one scum and two town alive. Odds are much, much better for town there.

-I definitely didn't expect a scum player to die on day 1, but it sort of ended up not mattering in the sense that it threw off scumhunting for the rest of the game with multiple people trying to make sense of a play that I think Peaf described as being "caught up in the moment" and had no real plan or logic behind it. lol.

- and I DEFINITELY didnt expect the backup cop to claim on day 2 or come to the conclusion that there is no cop. And even if Corrik was right and the first cop was a 1-shot cop, it still would have been wrong to claim all of that on day 2. For one, it's literally in the role PM that if the 1-shot scan is stopped by some means then you get the 1-shot back. So the hypothetical 1-shot cop might not have even gotten their first night scan off!

Let's talk role meta:

Scum had: Godfather, Vanilla Cop, Roleblocker

Town had: Cop, Bodyguard, Prostitute, Miller, Backup 1-Shot Cop, and 7 Vanilla

In my mind, I imagined that until the Cop had actually learned any information they wouldn't claim or be forced to claim. Obviously that went out the window. None of the roles in this game are particularly powerful, but I do think they interact with neat ways with the rooms mechanic.

Godfather is scum protection against the Cops, but it only works if the godfather actually pairs with town players. You're punished for pairing with your own team, potentially. Also, it explicitly scanned as Town Vanilla, meaning that Vanilla Cop could scan the Godfather's room and get an exact read on the other player in the room.

Vanilla Cop was intended as a weak way to suss out town power roles. Of course, unless scanning the godfather's room, you don't know which of the two players (or both) are town power. Perhaps that could lead to killing one and roleblocking the other. Or scum could figure out a full room of vanillas and could leave them alone.

Roleblocker: Mostly just an anti-claim mechanic. IMO you should get punished as town for claiming stuff when you don't have to or when it isn't helpful to your team. Although as it turned out, this roleblock didn't hit a single power use all game, lol.

Cop: I thought scanning the whole room was a more interesting mechanic than your typical cop role. It could punish the scum team for pairing together early if they were in danger and needed saving. That being said, there were traps to it - a Miller that turned its own partner into a Miller too. But realistically if Cop ever scanned a room guilty without a Miller claim (or with the Miller claimed already, in another room), you could feasibly triple kill both players + the scummiest remaining player alive, which is good expected value for town.

Miller - I imagined the miller would claim 1 which didn't happen lol. Maybe this could have better achieved my original intent for the role if it was literally like a Host Confirmed Role like literally in Topic 1 Post 1 I said "Lea is confirmed to be TOWN Miller" in bold. Because I truly think Miller is super interesting mechnically here. it dissuades all sorts of things - cop scans, vanilla cop scans, roleblocks. But then it becomes super interesting to see who pairs with that Miller. Cop can do it to avoid getting roleblocked, potentially. Scum can do it to avoid getting scanned (they more or less figured out the scan mechanic on day 1, btw). and then there would be interesting analysis to do in seeing who paired with them. It's also possible a host confirmed town role just auto-dies n1, but there's theoretical kill re-direction fear, etc.

Prostitute - This was 100% intended to be a town-confirming role and a weaker movement scanner for town. I never once considered that anyone might think it could be SCUM Godfather Prostitute. Please, have a little respect for your host. I absolutely would not put that in a game with otherwise very simple roles.

Backup 1-Shot Cop: this was literally just insurance in case the regular cop randomly died immediately (which would have been super super swingy).

Ultimately though, roles ought to be on the weaker side because everyone, even Vanillas, are unlimited use neighbors! And I still maintain that over the course of 6 nights or so, you ought to be able to determine whether your partner was scum or not - and if scum was pairing together early and often, the cop should be able to catch that.

Lastly, the scum team played very well and definitely deserved their win. They didn't pair a single time until it ended the game! They were provided with a short role safelist, and were guaranteed that no form/variation of either of the two roles on it existed in the game (which were Watcher and 1-Shot Bus Driver). They were also provided the full Town Vanilla PM.

Thanks to everyone for playing and hopefully having fun! There's been quite a bit of discussion about running additional games in this format down the line (perhaps around Valentine's Day 2025?). At this time, I'm not planning to write another game in this format, but anyone else is welcome to think up a game in this style and I'd be happy to balance or co-host with you!

If Ulti and Isquen didn't date each other the previous day, I genuinely think we would have lynched Sultan after Chris flipped. That's the biggest throw in my opinion.

I still think 14 vs 3 would be too much unless all vanilla or something. This game wasn't designed so that only one player ever gets copscanned.

It was fun helping a bit. Sorry I couldn't be around more to help with co-hosting. I think I need to only offer balance checks and not co hosting for a bit until schedule is more consistent again lol.

It was fun seeing eod1 analysis when Peaf just kinda messed up. FD did really well manipulating the direction of the days in the end I thought. You guys are not nice enough to each other ocassionally for no real reason, otherwise it was fun following along.

Fun idea, Chang, thanks for hosting. I'm sure it can be improved but I think for a first time it went good all things considered. Miller is the only thing I would have said we should have thought differently.

I think there is realistically a logical reason not to blow up 3 people in 5v2 on 7, but I'll have to go over that when I'm not on mobile.

But I think the key was getting Dumey to believe I didn't want to pair with MZero. If he got the same vibe about me and Sultan then I think he insists on our pairing

It's hard to play cop imo, it's nice to look a little bit bad. I have drawn it once since coming back, scanned the dead night kill while getting role copped by scum and thus got murdered n2, what fun.
