Yesterday was a close, debatable match from start to finish with both games holding leads on multiple occasions. However, the second lead Mario built was just enough to hang on to secure 2023's crown for Super Mario Bros. Wonder, winning the championship 19-17!

I have played next to nothing from 2023 so cannot judge. Surprised Hi-Fi did as well as it did, though! I have played 18 of the 28 winning games, that's better than I expected! (and two more are on my backlog) Also I know this is very nitpicky but Pokemon Yellow and Crystal didn't come out the same year as RB/GS right? LiquidOshawott posted... (But lenient on like Spyro 2 which I played at a neighbors house and Borderlands 2 which I played a few sessions of) also fwiw I do like Wonder and its pretty much a consensus top 5 GOTY pick, not that shocking it won on a board where Mario wins like every board contest its in andylt posted...
A good chunk of the heavy hitters from the last few years, gaming has been so strong lately I havent really gotten the opportunity to keep up, also have had multiple things that have made it consistently harder for me off the top of my head Hades/Elden Ring/Outer Wilds/Obra Dinn/Death Stranding/Alan Wake 2/Divinity OS 1+2/3 Houses/Hollow Knight/Bug Fables/Cyberpunk/Post 6 RE all come to mind, maybe others when I think of them.
