Or go Pact of the Blade and remember to use the Blade features, it lets him use his Charisma as his weapon stat.

well they should have shown him use that in the intro cinematic instead of his sword >_>

plus he's the Blade of Something so I was expecting a melee person/future bard

That's where I'm at, getting ready to take on the goblin camp. Or talk my way through if I can.

I regret not getting to see Wyll in all his glory during EA. From what I've heard, he made, uh, quite the entrance.

They really did Warlock dirty I feel. In 5E warlock has the dishonorable reputation of basically having all its best features at level 2, making it a really efficient splash but not something you'd actually play. Instead of addressing these problems they arbitrarily nerf one of the Pacts, tweak another without actually fixing its core problems, and otherwise do nothing at all.

Hexblade Curse (Bonus Action, 1 Target. Recharges on Short Rest)

• Deal Bonus Damage = Proficiency Bonus (similar to Barbarian Rage)
• Improved Critical (Crit on 19-20)
• On Kill Regain HP = Warlock Lv + Charisma Mod (min 1)

Hex Warrior

• Medium Armor, Shields, Martial Weapons
• Can use Charisma for Attack / Damage for all non two-handed weapons (Pact of Blade enables 2H)

That's more features than most Warlock patrons get, but that's the kind of boost to survivability that a Warlock needs to be viable in the front line, and even then you're still not great because they never gave you Extra Attack, making Hexblade into a really juicy dip for Paladins more than anything else. Meanwhile poor Wyll, over here advertising the sword-swinging epic adventurer type of Warlock when there's no Hexblade for him to use. The only survivability he gets is Dark One's Blessing but that's really not enough to justify wading into melee combat, and Pact of the Blade doesn't give you damage to surpass Eldritch Blast. (You get Extra Attack at the same time EB gets 2 shots, and never get a 3rd attack to compensate EB going up to 3 at level 11)

Pact of the Chain didn't really get nerfed too bad. It gets extra attack at 5 too but familiars aren't known for their attack power. Still, it manages to further outperform swordlock so...lol, and Pact of Tomes got nerfed the hardest. Goodbye unique niche as a super flexible ritual caster, you get...cantrips. And later, 1/long rest spells probably better covered by your other party members. Why? The ability to record spells into a book is already a thing, as are Ritual Spells.

Oh and apparently only Wyll actually gets to interact with his patron. Sorry Tavs.

Also, bless you, Gekh Coal, for being dumb enough to think that I was actually going to help you and not just use the opportunity to get in position to turn your ambush around on you.

hahaha WHAT?! I thought it was bad enough you were restricted to evil familiars. The tabletop flavor of Warlock is one of the most compelling reasons to solo it versus the issues you stated.

Guess all the dev time went to calculating whether paladins broke their oath...

At least for Act 1 I don't think anyone's found any patron interactions. You can talk about your patron in [Warlock] tagged dialogue, but that's the extent of it it seems.

The flawed helldusk armor looks pretty sweet. Don't remember picking up any special material for it but the tiefling blacksmith made it,

I got armor, gloves, and helmet.

Helmet gives Fire Resistance and immunity to crits, gloves give Acid damage on weapon attacks and I think Fire on unarmed.

Pretty sweet.

Is it just me or do the "Male" face models still look decidedly feminine?

What vulvas do ya'll have?

Welp, I love everything about this game but the combat. I don't hate the combat, but I also just don't have the time nor energy to think through every damn encounter, a bunch of trial and error, reloading saves all the damn time, etc.

Thus, it's mod time. Gonna break this shit!

Kidding, I heard there's a mod to increase the party size, that's probably fun. Just get the whole crew in on the action.

Haven't researched this much but any way to manage save files better? I don't want every quick save to be a different file, nor do I want every overwritten manual save to be stuck with its original name.

I've never played a game in this series and haven't played many RPGs like it. But I've heard a lot of hype.

Is the game worth getting for someone like me?

you can change the number of quick saves and change the name of manual saves

How? I know you can rename a manual save the first time, haven't seen how to rename it once you are overwriting it. Is there an option somewhere to limit and/or force overwrite of quicksaves?

Your post got me thinking, what is the most "newb friendly" party? I'm used to 2nd and 3.5 so I'm still learning some of the 5E rules too.

Maybe a Half-Orc Barbarian (main), Cleric, Wizard, and Rogue, no multiclassing? Or maybe have your main be an Elf fighter or ranger focusing on archery? I remember playing some tabletop 5E online during the pandemic and I played an arcane archer which was pretty fun.

My wife just encountered a game-breaking bug and had to redo 5 hours worth if gameplay. Pour one out, boys

Yeah thats what i would do too. Except i'd be the rogue and i'd use a barbarian fighter.

My guys hit level 6 now and the owlbear druid form is soooo strong. I was hoping moon Druid would be a blast and it really has been. I've used the wolf for combat up until now but that owlbear... bird is great, too. Want to experiment with the panther once I get back to exploring the mountain pass. I'm almost done with the creche thing. This sidequest got a lot more dramatic than I expected.

Does your second class not get as many dialogue options? I'm a paladin / warlock and am getting tons of paladin dialogue options but warlock options seem to be less common.

warlock in general doesn't get a whole lot

Still frustrated by small UI/UX things like accidentally clicking on Steal instead of Read on books inside a town. It's punishing to reload a save on such bullshit when the saves seem kinda annoying to manage.

It's encouraging save scumming which I think the system works hard to discourage through things like Inspirations.

Are y'all playing with hdr enabled?

Is that the one where you walk onto a set out of Bloodborne? Even if you reload after it might be worth burning all your Inspiration in that scene to see how far you can push things. And to think Shadowheart was mixed up with Shar, nothing good comes from Shar. Even the books in the crypt near the beach mentioned how Shar worshippers get abandoned...

Just sniped those cursed fish-men from the cliffs with a crossbow near the moonrise tower. I got over 1k of exp without engaging any of them lol. Also got really lucky with some dice rolls and made a certain someone with a pet demon cat kill himself and his followers.

It looks like there was some misconception about multiplayer earlier in this topic but you definitely can have an online game of 4 completely user made characters. Also you assign characters to players in the session menu after hitting the 'pause' menu.

I'm still early on. Just got to the Goblin camp and did some freaky bdsm stuff. I'm a tiefling pact of blade warlock and tbh I'm not sure if I'm playing him right but I'm enjoying it. My fiance is a drow sorcerer (or wizard, I forget lol) and we have Shadowheart and Laezael it whatever her name is. I'm also having a bit of a hard time making Shadowheart useful. I think I need to respec her
