Ended up getting the game and I'm playing split screen. The controls are a mess ngl but the game plays like a dream at max settings at 4K. My fiance accidentally skipped a dialogue I was in because she was running around and fell into a hole which caused a battle that we were definitely not ready for lol

Rolled a half-elf Knowledge Cleric of Mystra. Tutorial is pretty fun but I let a friend jump into my game a little too soon before I had many of the mechanics figured out, even though some of it is intuitive from the old games. Oh, and haven't been using my PC much lately so I forgot to take some stuff off my top case fans and that shit was cookin when finally noticed. My computer is old (Radeon R9 Fury, 16 GB RAM) but the game defaulted to Ultra/High settings at 1440p and is running well so far with some low frame rates in cutscenes.

I'm quite happy with the performance too. I'm also running it at around 1440p. I've set 4k screen res with dlss on quality mode (this should be around 1440p or so). Sharpening slider is at around 60% of the way to max. It only looks blurry if I sit about 3 feet away from my 55 inch tv. So I maintain around 4 to 5 feet sitting distance.

All high settings except texture which is on ultra.

60 fps cap and stays that way for the most part. Some cutscenes have made fps go down to 50 fps for like 1 to 2 seconds. Gpu usage stays around 70-85% so still some extra headroom left in case some more extensive stuff goes down.

This is for the first 80 mins of the game. I wonder if the towns will be super demanding. I will see soon

minor complaint: edge panning doesn't work properly. temp solution is to hit direction keys on keyboard then it'll work temporarily until you enter turn base mode or initiate dialogue. this prevents me from going completely keyboardless!!! wtf this needs patch ASAP

Rhielle the High Elf Sorc in her lounging outfit.

I used the heterochromia to give her a messed up eye along the scar and then it ended up being the eye that has a lil'illithid in it so it worked out twice.
So I did that and I was so proud of it.

Honestly one of my favorite parts of the design.

Then fuckin' Volo does amateur eye surgery and pops the damn thing out.

Technically by all accounts the surgery was a resounding success because he fixed my dead eye and now I can see ghosts.

But it legit gave me matching eyes, I cannot fault Larian for foresight.

I'm letting it ride.

Need to adjust how the game runs on my Deck cus it is killing its battery like Dracula was killing his boy but so far digging it hust found out you can press the right touch pad instead of right stick to toggle the highlight feature.

Much more user friendly then the first two games.

My game did a small download before launching this morning. Seems to have improved the stuttering issue when talking to people. Cool.
Also, these battles are kinda tough, but maybe I'm just getting to places too early.

Enemies may patrol with line of sight cones that can be blocked by the environment, if a character steps into it they roll a hiding check. If they fail the hiding check they might initiate combat (but might not, IDK why it's not consistent).

The bigger problem is your party always wants to walk behind in a 12-3-6-9 formation and will just wander dumbly into line of sight, at least if you're walking manually with analog stick. If you click on a spot then pathfinding seems better.

Also in KB+M mode I can just hover on an enemy and click for contextual sneak attack, but when using controller the game doesn't understand and says they're too far away or cannot be reached.

See, controller and KB+M have fully separate HUD and interaction systems that switch from one to the other when their input is detected, and I think the way controller HUD is programmed is just not conducive to precise operating, or frankly, playing on Tactician in general

Well see, the issue is when you separate then the game is really insistent that the other party members don't exist when a battle begins. Like you'll separate and do a sneak attack and now you're just standing there alone in the turn lineup while every single enemy is now aware of you. And I don't know how to like get everyone else in at that point without wasting turns.

Switch team members.

You'll exit combat and have the other ones still moving freely while the enemy is standing still, assuming it's your Rogue's turn in initiative.

I've used it to line up three individual attacks, buff before engaging, get better positioning, summon...
