Kinda whatever for most of this season definitely the weakest of the three, but it's really picked up the last 2 episodes and I assume the finale will be good too

Man that was a really good season of RWBY. Glad I finally watched it.

I'm not going to lie: Megumin spinoff kinda doesn't work. She's a great character, but as part of an ensemble. On her own, and especially with Yunyun as a bland ass piece of bread partner, she doesn't have enough comedic flair to carry a show like this. I think the two episodes with the weird Axis priests were pretty good, but as soon as they left, it was back to boringsville.

Maybe that's kind of the point: none of these characters work as well alone as they do together in Konosuba proper.

It's not like it's bad, it's actually good for what it is, it's just that what it is doesn't really work. Maybe it works better in print than in anime?

It's more that by herself, Megumin's tsundere tendencies take too much focus. Kazuma alone gives her a much higher dimension where that plays off as "Dude, what the fuck is wrong with you?" Add in Aqua and Darkness, and you don't notice it as much and can focus on her as EXPLOSION girl.

As for Yunyun, I half expect this show to finally have her explode and actually become something. Maybe the entire point is she is nothing, means nothing, and is a doormat...but it is so frustrating to watch as a co-lead.

It gets me thinking about if they'd ever do spinoffs of Aqua or Darkness. I think Aqua could work in a weird "Ah My Goddess meets Panty and Stocking" kind of mishmash. Just episodic bullshit about Aqua sending every kind of weirdo to different worlds and bouncing back and forth from their tales of doom and depravity and her being a complete drunken mess of a goddess. Darkness would be trickier, but it might work in a Yakuza 0 kind of way. Don't have her be a complete horndog from the getgo. Make it a byproduct of weird ass political intrigue satire.

Otherwise, just stick with Konosuba proper.

Dr. Stone Season 3 first half beated

Started a show called Gleipnir just now. It's that sort of dark and perverse stuff that can either be really good or really bad, but the first ep was promising

Gleipnir is great! Just don't expect a real ending.

After 10 episodes, I'm calling it quits on Bungou Stray Dogs. Not a fan of the humor, and I think it undermines how seriously the show is taking itself. The fights are okay, but they feel like watching pro wrestling and lack impact. The characters range from meh to fine, except for Ranpo, whom I hate.

2-3 weeks before the next season starts, so I think I'll give JJK a try and see if it's something I'll watch in an otherwise uninteresting season.

Excuse you but Mononogatari Second Season gonna slap.

For new stuff, I am keeping a FIRM eye on AI no Idenshi.

Going to Anime Festival Orlando this weekend. Decided to grab the tickets on my lunch break and what a fucking shit show that was.

They have literally one person processing tickets and the queue was probably 200+ people. The queue snakes through a hallway with pinchpoints which they are allowing people to still walk through normally rather than redirect. Which results in them screaming at people every 2 minutes for creating a fire hazard and to leave the pinchpoints open. Maybe don't run your queue in a way that can easily create a fire hazard if you're going to scream at people for doing exactly that every 2 minutes.

It took well over an hour of queueing to get my tickets. Still had to go home and get changed and get the wife. Probably should have just waited until later when the queue may have been smaller

1hr premiere for Atelier Ryza on July 1.

At the anime convention I'm at this weekend I feel like one of the vendors has pulled a massive dick move. They had a large canvas print front and center (basically the first thing you would see) for what I assume is a pretty fucking massive chainsaw man manga only spoiler.

I haven't read the manga but it immediately looked to me that it was a like a Snape/Dumbledore esque spoiler level stuff

oh another One Piece "Special" episode this week recapping all of Kid and Law's fights in the raid

just catching us all up before they finish off Big Mom in 2 weeks

I really gotta catch up on some anime. I'm literally only watching Gundam.

Oshi no Ko and Heavenly Delusion especially. HD I'd probably still be caught up on if I didn't have to obtain it elsewhere and could just stream it, but the Hulu release is just too shitty.

Is there some problem with the Hulu version?

It's full closed captioning rather than subtitles which is super annoying, and the timing goes out of synch often.

I was the same, I was like "this suck but whatever" when they kept throwing speaker names on screen and subtitles sound effects, but in the 2 episodes I watched on Hulu but by the end they were over a full second off.

So far Disney ha dropped the ball for every anime they've put out over here.

I mean hell I didn't even see anybody talking about Bleach after the second episode! How did I go a full cour of Bleach without even seeing a single GIF or screenshot hit my timeline in 3 months??

I had no problem with the Megumin production, just the content got tired. Hopefully this will be a return to form.

Maybe having actual funny characters will bring the comedy back to everything.

Trying out Saving 80k in Another World. Mitsuha and Colette are interesting characters. Mitsuha's power is kinda neat by isekai standards, and the comedy interludes don't distract from the decent writing too much.

I thought it was a pretty fun show! Not amazing, but I enjoyed it from start to finish. Mitsuha's a good protagonist.

Undead Murder Farce and AYAKA sound interesting. I "guess" I can keep up with Devil is a Part Timer, but the first cour of Season 2 was a bag of balls. However...that fucking Vending Machine anime. The fact that is even a concept is so awkward not to at least see it in action to see how stupid it probably is.

I've read (most) of the Light Novels. They never go downhill. Several of my favorite moments have yet to be animated.
