It's more that by herself, Megumin's tsundere tendencies take too much focus. Kazuma alone gives her a much higher dimension where that plays off as "Dude, what the fuck is wrong with you?" Add in Aqua and Darkness, and you don't notice it as much and can focus on her as EXPLOSION girl.

As for Yunyun, I half expect this show to finally have her explode and actually become something. Maybe the entire point is she is nothing, means nothing, and is a doormat...but it is so frustrating to watch as a co-lead.

It gets me thinking about if they'd ever do spinoffs of Aqua or Darkness. I think Aqua could work in a weird "Ah My Goddess meets Panty and Stocking" kind of mishmash. Just episodic bullshit about Aqua sending every kind of weirdo to different worlds and bouncing back and forth from their tales of doom and depravity and her being a complete drunken mess of a goddess. Darkness would be trickier, but it might work in a Yakuza 0 kind of way. Don't have her be a complete horndog from the getgo. Make it a byproduct of weird ass political intrigue satire.

Otherwise, just stick with Konosuba proper.
