Yes this is a much better way of explaining my issues. Meaningless effects and auras, and completely ignoring the space the fight is occurring in.

That Zoro video early is a great example of just bit clicking, especially because the entire scene woukd have been 1p times better if it was condensed down rkn1t seconds.

Like, honestly, I'll take something like this over the flashy, glowy, drawn out, shitty sound effect Las Vegas looking nonsense any day.

My brother is looking for anime suggestions if anyone can help. He wants a mecha anime, but not one where they jump around or fly a bunch. Like, he's been getting into Battletech/Mechwarrior and he's wondering if there's an anime where the mechas are slow, lumbering and stompy weapons platforms.

I haven't seen many mecha anime myself, and most of them are the jumpy kind like Planet With. Even 86 has the spider mechs running around fast and climbing buildings and such

If we're talking mecha anime for somebody who sounds like they're not big into anime I'll always recommend Code Geass first and foremost, but it's not really slow and lumbering mechs.

I mean it kind of is at the start but it doesn't stay that way at all.

If the realistic mech element is removed, I'd say Code Geass and Eureka Seven are both excellent choices for show with mechs that aren't about mechs. Soap Opera Insanity for the first and Romance Sci-fi Insanity for the second.

I did binge watch Chainsaw Man yesterday and that was really enjoyable. Somehow Power talking like she does is endearing but when the dude in Stein's gate is like that it's just annoying

Stick with it until 11 or 12. These early episodes lull you into thinking not much happens but you'll be glad you paid attention to them because the details will be important later on.

The plot really takes off about halfway through the anime. But by that point I actively disliked so much of the cast (especially the MC) that I didn't care much about it.
