I'm definitely starting on basic for sure.

I always start on either Expert or Ultimate. If it's a song I like or know I'll def do the Ultimate first. If I'm feeling chill I'll just do the Expert, but I'm trying to force myself to start on Ultimates for most now, to get myself better at the game.

In previous games, I would do all the difficulty levels in order.

I played the demo enough to be able to start off on Expert. I consistently get S rank and above with the occasional A. I plan on playing most of the track list before jumping up a difficulty.

I only play Expert if my characters are low level and I've already failed once or twice on Ultimate.

Sometimes a chart just isn't jiving with me on Ultimate and I'll go down to Expert after a couple fails.

my brain will not send the commands to my fingers fast enough for ultimate. I just can't see how they are possible

should i expect this game (digital deluxe version with the extra songs) to go on a good sale sometime in the future? it's something i'm interested in at some point for sure but not sure at this price point

I dont think the DLC for the previous game ever went on sale even once but maybe the base game will at some point

No, they did not. In fact I started following a Nintendo News website that always said when DLC went on sale, just for this. But I never saw it happen.

It was also my best example of overpriced DLC-
The game cost $40 and included 221 songs
Then you have 100 DLC songs for $1 each
So you actually need to pay 2.5 the price for half the content (which would mean each DLC song cost 5 times as much as a regular song)

Not sure if the Deluxe Edition of the new game is worth it, didn't check prices yet

I pick based on the difficulty rankings. 10 is pushing it for me right now, but anything below 7 is boring AF.

Yeah, I wouldn't bet on Digital Deluxe going on sale, at least not anytime soon.

I can't believe they didn't bring back hit DLC character Auron #2.

I was just sad they didn't (and still haven't) add non-FF characters with their songs.

game has so many 14 song and its still not enough. wish there were a bit more post ARR songs than we got. Return to Oblivion being absent is a crime and a few more FMS selections would have been nice

I say if FF7 got 3 series slots, FF14 couldve gotten one for ARR and one for each expansion. And its a crime that 14 only gets 5 characters, and two of them are yshtola.

yshtola 2 isnt really a spoiler. 1 is just her ARR costume, 2 is her Heavensward costume

Aww, a little detail I liked in Curtain Call was that when you were playng Rufus's Welcoming Ceremony it would display that TV Ratings percentage like the original game, but it's gone from this one.

I've been seeing some talk about a save-corrupting bug that can happen if you quit the game after deleting summon stones from your inventory. The current advice is that as long as you play another song after deleting the stones, you can avoid it.

As far as Im aware, no, you can still get the digital deluxe coherent separately. At least, I remember hearing that before the game came out.

Digital deluxe will run you an extra $30 and includes the first batch of DLC (SaGa, Live a Live, TWEWY, NieR, and more SaGa) along with the exclusive songs.

Man... Using Red XIII with his buff move when enemies do double damage is just a death sentence. 2-3 Bads/Misses will drain your HP from 100% to 0, it's crazy. So if you don't perfect chain the song the first time, you just fail. I've had several S+ scores that have died at the end because I took damage 3 times.

the 3D version of TAY definitely looks like shit, the 2D version is fine since its basically just FF4

OK looked it up, $30 for 57 extra tracks
And additional $20 for 60 extra tracks
So in total, it's $50 for 117 extra tracks, which is $0.42 per track. Which is much much more reasonable than $1

I had no idea that there was a 2D version of it, I thought the DS version was the original

it was on phones first, then WiiWare, then PSP (with improved graphics from the previous two versions), and finally the 3D version

The After Years 3D was never even on DS, only mobile and Steam.

And somehow you missed all the talk of it being on WiiWare and how you had to buy individual episodes.

Also After Years gave us Swolbez and Pink-Haired Porom, its good for those things.

Coincidentally today's the 15th anniversary of TAY's original release, back before they added Years to the title. (Well, the first chapter anyway, it took almost to the end of the year for the whole game to come out.)

Just played the Advent Children version of One Winged Angel on Ultimate and the game did something I didn't even know it was allowed to do!

Ultimate's not too bad, but supreme feels impossible

I'm in this weird spot where I can't quite do Ultimates reliably but Expert is mostly SS or SSS clears.

I used to play Curtain Call in Stylus mode so it's taking some adjustment.

I dunno if I should just clear every song on Expert and hope I'm better at Ultimate by then or take my lumps and get roughed up a bit to learn Ultimate faster.

Is it even worth it to do basics before expert, if I can do experts fairly reliably? As in, do I miss out on certain rewards at all or anything like that?

I will occasionally jump into ultimate if it's a 7 or 8 but still only barely get an A. Expert is consistenly SS or SSS. But if I don't run through basic now there will be that slog later of doing them all for completion.

Yeah I've been going through basic and then expert so far, for completion and to make sure I don't miss anything. Only done FF 2 and 5 so far (almost done 7). Loving it so far!

Have you tried the easier Ultimates that are like 6/7s? Maybe try those and if those feel good then an 8 etc

It seems like the difficulty on these songs is a little wonky

Castle Cornelia which is a 9 was an easy first time S rank

There are some 8's that I can't beat without healing though
