lmao what? He would still be exactly the same with 0 power. Setting him to 4 energy sounds pretty good, in the decks I've played with Zabu I would often play him on 4 if I hadn't drawn him on 3 and everything still worked out pretty well

they have a good track record so far of not completely killing a card when they nerf it (except maybe Nakia), look into how Devil Dinosaur used to be in beta for an example

Had to post this game where I wrecked this guys obvious Galactus on turn 6 with a Goblin. And wrecked his Hobgoblin on turn 5 with Prof X and DD. Maybe he didn't realize Prof X stops goblin now?

The times Jubilee works out feel so good. Had her draw out Odin and then draw out Devil Dinosaur. Lots of power in 1 turn. Trying to use The Infinaut is kinda tricky if he doesnt get drawn out though. Its rare I can just skip turn 5 to play him

I absorbing mand Jubilee on Kamar-Taj, and not only did he not proc twice, but the Psylocke he played didnt proc at all!

Absorbing Man has some weird quirks.

Like he cant copy Hulk-Buster because theres no card on the board left for him to copy

Big problem is the nature of the game is that a lot of decks won't benefit from the supposed drawback. The big decks that will are the decks running him already.

Putting some sort of actual drawback on him like Electro is possibly a good idea though.

It seems like it shouldn't work but it's actually really effective whenever Collector or Quinjet are drawn early. Also the sheer volume of random cards means you might luck into a solution once in a while. I just won a game against White Tiger Wong Odin silliness by having Fury recruit Orka to drop a 14 power guy on the right lane to beat the Odin lane by itself for 4 cost. It's just a fun deck to play.

Ive been running a similar deck that started as a Devil Dinosaur deck but became a SHIELD deck (cameo by Devil Dinosaur). Nice synergy.

its inintuitive and should probably change, but the logic behind Absorbing Man here is that the On Reveal that would proc twice is copy the last cards On Reveal effect but once that new effect gets copied, the original effect is removed from the card and now cant proc a second time. As for the Psylocke, I honestly dont know. May be worth submitting a bug report.

does anyone know if Dagger can only get boosted from moving once? I had an opponent use her and lose because the second time their Dagger moved, it didnt gain any power when it shouldve gained 8.

It's not that black/white with Zabu and non-Zabu decks. Everyone has 4 costs who can benefit some amount from a free Zabu effect. You won't benefit as much as their specific Zabu combo, but you don't need to since you have your own combo. It's just an extra boost.

The nature of the game is meta self-balancing, and my idea makes Zabu way more self-balancing. You can lean towards more 4 costs the more popular he is, and vice versa. In particular you can use Enchantress more, which ends up being free if he is played (you can play her + another 4 cost instead of her alone).

Finally, restrictions aren't fun. People who paid for him will hate it. People who play against his nerfed form won't really feel happier either. They will just lose less. But players don't remember loss-aversion as much as they remember creating cool powerful moments. So if you can balance Zabu by making him a card that makes both players feel powerful, adds drama to what will be played, then that's the way to go.

Not really, though. Pretty much the only time someone 100% will benefit is if they have 2 4s to drop on turn 4, which isn't really all that likely if they themselves aren't a Zabu deck

You have to think of it not in terms of cost reductions gained but in terms of what the alternative becomes. Most of my decks really value their 5 drops and their 6 drops. You can say "well they get some benefit" but like... most of the time I'm going to get an extra 2 drop at best. It almost doesn't matter.

It still works on turn 5, but would I rather drop a 4 and a 3 or a 5? Most of my decks I'm just going to drop a 5. It still works on turn 6, but would I rather drop a 4 + stuff then or drop a 6?

Like I'm not saying it helping both players doesn't provide some token benefit for the other player at all times, but I think the win rate on it would actually increase due to +1 power helping more than the 4 cost reduction helps the other guy. That's why I think if you go that way you need to make the benefit the other guy gets more generalized.

Yeah. I feel the Devil Dinosaur love. I've been heavily considering putting him in my deck because my hand often gets overcrowded with all the "draw a card when you play this" stuff. I just don't know what I'd take out. Blue Marvel often gets more bonus power overall than Dinosaur and I wouldn't really want to take out lower cost stuff because then my cost starts skewing higher and part of what makes the deck fun is just dumping a million cards (and being able to actually play the random cards I get-- if Dino and Marvel become super premium then less window to play them)

Im having a lot of fun playing Gambit on Lockjaw.

I doubt that works often but that's an annoying combo.

ive done this with storm against the opponents magik and it was beautiful

Yeah I've done it with my own Storm and Scarlet Witch but playing Magik then taking it away yourself the next turn is interesting. People think you're setting up for something big then nope.
