A fucking dude asked me how to say cusswords in Chinese.
I swear, I always thought Hank Hill and his friends were just caricatures, but the longer I live in Texas, the more I see that they were not even extreme in portraying Texans like them.

what city are you in? Houston has the most diverse Asian population, but Texas in general is lacking in that regard.

I'm in the oilfields right now, but I've been all over the state and while most places are better than here, they aren't that much better.

I've been living here for the last 5 years, and I won't be leaving for least 2-3 more years. It's fucking terrible, I don't want my kids to go to school here(they're half Korean and half Mexican) because of the racism, but I unfortunately don't have a choice for now.

Given that you aren't going to be able to fix the racist ignorance, you might as well lean into it and mess with them. Learn and give them some ridiculous mundane words in each of Mandarin, Japanese, Vietnamese, and Korean, telling them that those are all "Chinese swear words," then go about your life knowing that, someday, they're going to be mad at an Asian person and try calling them a desk fan.

I live in BC, and even with a huge Asian population, as soon as you're out of Vancouver (which of course has its own problems with overt racism and the just stupid ignorant shit you describe), people are fucking daft. I make great money, have a healthy savings account, have several assets I could move to get cash flow if necessary. Certainly wouldn't have to tolerate living somewhere "fucking terrible" for one year, let alone five. And definitely wouldn't subject my kids to living somewhere "fucking terrible"...

Yeah it doesn't make sense. I live in Massachusetts, one of the most expensive places to live in the country, and even making half of what lihlih makes I'm by no measure "stuck". I could move any time I want, pretty much any where I want.

All I know is that if my kids were at risk or could have a much better life somewhere else, I'd move. Simple as that. Do it for the kids, at least. Making them suffer when you have the money to move them is just cruel.

The fact that I'm stuck here for a few more years has something to do with my fiancee's family, and I won't say more than that as it's private. It has nothing to do with my finances. Actually, once I move to SoCal, I'll be back to making 120k a year, so finances literally has nothing to do with it.
