Given that you aren't going to be able to fix the racist ignorance, you might as well lean into it and mess with them. Learn and give them some ridiculous mundane words in each of Mandarin, Japanese, Vietnamese, and Korean, telling them that those are all "Chinese swear words," then go about your life knowing that, someday, they're going to be mad at an Asian person and try calling them a desk fan.

I thought of doing something like that(I'm proficient in Korean), but I just didn't bother.

Sorry you're dealing with that. I live in BC, and even with a huge Asian population, as soon as you're out of Vancouver (which of course has its own problems with overt racism and the just stupid ignorant shit you describe), people are fucking daft. I've got a friend that had a liquor store employee tell him "Welcome to Canada!" when he's bloody well born here.

Oh man, one of the most racist people I knew was from Canada. I used to be good friends with him until he found out that one of our mutual friends was black(we were League buddies, so we never saw each other in person). Then he went on this like 1 hour rant about how black people are inferior because God burnt them, how white people are at the top, then Asians, and black people are all the way at the bottom, etc... It was pretty fucking horrible.
