These are games I've been curious about for a while!

Both good games! For VNs, I think they're a little tougher than normal because you can get a lot of nonstandard game overs (which isn't a huge deal since you can save frequently) and some of the puzzle solutions can be dumb to work out, but Kyle Hyde is a charming protagonist. I think Hotel Dusk takes a while to get going, but Last Window is pretty good right away, so I prefer that one of the two.

Stranger Things Season 1 Episode 5 complete!

This was a helpful episode since it explained how the rules of this show's supernatural elements work.

Also couldn't help but think of Steins;Gate when they had that discussion about the Many-Worlds Interpretation.

Well, I'm trying to beat some of the Dream versions of the bosses in Hollow Knight to gain more essence. I managed to beat the Dream Zote fight, and now I'm working on the Failed Champion one. I think I've got a good strategy for it and his moves are pretty easy to read. I just have to execute it properly.

I beat the fourth Pantheon yesterday. I think I just need to beat the final boss and complete the Hunter's Journal before attempting the fifth, then I'll have completed everything.

I actually never completely finished the game because the final boss was quite hard and I gave up after maybe like 5 tries. I think there was a fair amount of extra bosses and stuff added after my playthrough, too

Yeah this is the part of the game I never did haha. Think I did the first 2 pantheons. Probably could have done the third, but the final one sounded way too frustrating to even bother trying to finish

I died to the last boss the first time, practiced against it until I could reliably beat it, then attempted the Pantheon again with success.

Probably wouldn't bother at all if you couldn't practice against bosses individually.

Wasn't there one that had new bosses at the end?

Man, the platforming segments in the White Palace in Hollow Knight are no joke.

I didn't especially like White Palace. Felt a lot less natural than the other platforming challenges and was also way more difficult, and at the end of the day that's not really the type of challenge I'm too interested in from the game. At least the music is good.

I had negligible trouble, but Hollow Knight's controls are not very tight and it should stop trying to be a platformer.

This Is Us Season 4 Episode 16 complete!

I think this episode summed up the fundamental difference between Kevin and Randall. Kevin was able to move on with his life, and Randall never was.

Hollow Knight beated! I know there's still more I can do (my final completion percentage was 91%), but I think I'm about ready to be done with it at this point.

Fun game. I definitely understand the appeal and the way the lore is presented is pretty cool. Don't know if it's something I'd play again, but there's apparently a sequel coming out at some indeterminate point, so I might try that one out.

Which ending did you get? I'm assuming based on the updates that you got the default ending where you go into the Temple of the Black Egg and beat the Hollow Knight, and the game ends with the player character absorbing the infection into itself. Assuming that's the case you might want to look up how to get the "Dream no More" ending and get that. Since you already have the Awoken Dream Nail and made it through White Palace, there isn't much more you actually need to do, and some of stuff related to that ending is pretty cool imo. I don't think it's critical though if you'd rather just move on.

Strangely, the full completion percent for Hollow Knight is actually 112% because of added DLC. Some of the DLC is kind of fun, but it's also insanely difficult and not necessary at all. I think I did maybe like a third of it or something. (For other people that played the game, I did the first Grimm fight as well as 2 of the Pantheons in the Godmaster area.)

In any case glad you enjoyed it. I'm a huge fan obviously. Gameplay itself was lots of fun and the lore and atmosphere was definitely engaging.

There is a sequel coming out which I am excited for. You play as Hornet and I don't know what else one could ask for tbh

Fun little epilogue chapter. Not enough justice for Melia but I will take what I can get here. Was kind of hoping we'd get more explanation on the rift/Fog King but I can believe it's something that might help set-up Xenoblade 3 so maybe we'll get answers there.

Also lmao Bana sidequest returning. Complete with Shulk and Melia constantly interrupting his monologue to connect the dots between the miscellaneous crimes to his plot.

Part of the reason I wanted to finish up Hollow Knight was because I wanted to start the new TMNT game, Shredder's Revenge. Played it through once with Leonardo (best turtle). It was a cool nostalgia trip, and as far as beat-em-ups go, it's very good. If you're a TMNT fan who also enjoys the genre, then it's a no-brainer.

That was quite a pair of "What if" scenarios.

I've done both Arcade Mode (just a straight up run with limited lives and continues) and Story Mode (where there's a map between levels with a save feature, and your lives replenish between levels) in Shredder's Revenge. Haven't tried the online multiplayer yet. Might give that a try next to see how it goes.

So I've been watching Sailor Moon Crystal (the remake they started a few years ago) and I just finished the Eternal movie (apparently there's another movie coming out next year). I didn't post about it because I watched the original a bunch growing up, so I didn't have a lot to say about individual episodes.

I was curious to see how they would make it work with fewer episodes than the original, and the solution was to cut out pretty much all the filler. I wound up missing the filler because that's where the character development is for the characters other than Sailor Moon, Tuxedo Mask, and Chibi Moon. Mars in particular is such a nothing character in Crystal, which is a shame because she's great in the original. You don't really get to see much from the villains either because you basically have to introduce them and then kill them off in the same episode.

A lot of the plot details were different from the original, too, but I imagine Crystal probably follows the manga more closely, so that's fine. Overall, it was a fun show that still has some of the charm of the original, but I don't know that I need to watch it again (although I'm sure I'll check out the next movie when it comes out).
