I remember liking the pod racing game. No clue if it was actually any good.

That mine from the beginning of the game must be loaded full with these salt crystals. That's the only way any of Gustadolph's actions make sense.

I immediately suspected salt crystals as soon as they revealed there was something else in the mind, haha. Not that I was completely sure, but I thought it was highly likely.

Oh wow, a three-way choice at the Scales of Conviction. I like how things are gradually getting more complex as we go, although I wonder what would happen if we netted a 3-3-1 vote. I decided to go with Roland's plan to infiltrate the castle and use the blast crystal on the Aesfrost warship. With all the talk of how these blast crystals are still experimental and unreliable, I didn't necessarily trust them to work as planned on the dam or the bridge. Thankfully, I was able to sway Geela and Erador to my side to secure the necessary votes.

Roland's plan has the added benefit of us getting rid of Erika and Thalas forever, so that's nice.

I haven't played the other versions of that choice, but I suspect the others do too, considering how stuff usually converges...

Chapter 13 (+14) other route outcome spoilers:

Frederica 13: You face Thales and Erika on the bridge because they show up while you're setting up the crystal. Can be a pretty challenging map because you start in the middle with each of them on either end of the bridge so you're surrounded (you can flee to the bottom of the bridge via ladders but archers can still pelt you from the main bridge with the right angles).

Frederica 14: Avlora takes Cordelia and flees on a ship, but the party catches up and it's a boarding mission. Pretty neat, unique map where the boarding device is a one-way trip to Avlora's boat because it works based on elevation differences. Avlora is the boss and defeating her is the victory condition.

Benedict 13: You fight over at the Telliore map, same as if you accept his invite in Chapter 8-Protect Roland route. You have to secure the area by the dam. Sycras is the boss because he's there on an inspection. It's a semi-stealth mission too. You start undetected and remain so as long as you don't get too close to enemies or enter the range of the streetlights. You can disable most of the streetlights during the explore phase if you're thorough. Or you can just rout them lol. Avlora is swept away by the flooding of the capital.

Benedict 14: You face Thalas and Erika on the same bridge as Frederica 13 but the initial positioning isn't as disadvantageous for you.

So this original Buu form is supposedly the most powerful because absorbing all the good guys made him inherently weaker because evil is cooler and stronger than good. And his first order of business is just pulling a Kefka and destroying the world.

Speaking of TV shows, I started watching Stranger Things the other day. Currently finished Season 1 (and Episode 1 of S2) and it's pretty good!

Yeah, I need to get around to that sometime. I've had several people tell me they think it'd be up my alley.

Well, that was quite the flash forward setup.

I only did that fight on NG+ so I can't give a completely helpful strategy - enemy levels actually keep scaling on NG+ though so it's not like I was 20 levels up on them - but I just rushed up the sides and left Avlora in the pond because it seems like her AI keeps her there for a few turns as long as you don't aggro her. By the time she gave chase I was past her and was able to evacuate the squishy units and distract her with tanks. (Don't sleep on Erador. Between his ram ability having 5 square pushback and the fact that Steelback actually makes back attacks do only minor damage to him he can usually keep Avlora under control by himself with a little support)

well the crazy thing about this fight is that they somehow feel the need to keep calling in reinforcements as if this battle isn't tough enough without them

I just tried to bumrush one turn and I got really close but those healing mages made it too difficult

Whew, finally beat it. Didn't quite go according to plan, but a win's a win!

Man, this show is good at introducing new characters without you having any clue how they relate to everyone else and then hitting you with the reveal at the exact right moment.

Triangle Strategy Chapter 14 complete!

I think it's interesting that not everyone in Glenbrook is happy to have Roland on the throne now because they liked the freedoms Aesfrost granted them. Also, my winning strategy for beating Avlora was to have Roland, Hughette, and Anna sneak around behind enemy lines to take out the healing mages, and I kept the rest of the party huddled together to draw Avlora and the other troops in. Then I made full use of Archibald's skill that ignores defense to override Avlora's ridiculously high defense once her HP gets low.

Another three-way vote in the Scales of Conviction, this time with three of the votes predetermined, which made things a bit trickier. I also didn't have any strong feelings about which choice to make this week, but I ultimately went with traveling with Frederica to the Rosellan Village, and I was able to persuade Erador to vote my way there. I thought we might have been on the verge of a 3-3-1 vote, but Anna sided with Benedict instead of Roland.

While I never experienced it myself, I read that in a tie vote Serenoa acts as the tiebreaker. And your Chapter 15 decision is the one I made on my first playthrough too.

Triangle Strategy Chapter 15 complete!

Man, it seems like the other two alternate paths were awesome, too. Looking forward to tackling those later. But we get a few big revelations in this chapter. First, Trish joined my party, which means I have another archer, heck yeah. I assume Milo would have joined if I had gone to visit Symon since she said she'd have accompanied me if I had gone there. I imagine someone else joins if you help Roland, but I don't have an idea as to whom it'd be. Maybe Cordelia...? The second is the least surprising of all: Yet another JRPG religion turns out to be false and evil, although the truth about the history of the Roselle was pretty cool. Finally, we learn Serenoa is an illegitimate son of King Regna. I do wonder if this will end up driving a wedge between him and Roland, who feels like he's becoming more of a loose cannon as time goes on.

Trish is great and pretty amazing once her weapon is fully upgraded (I think the Act Again skill is tied to that)

Her and Archibald easily the best archers in the game IMO.

Triangle Strategy Chapter 16 complete!

The mine was a really cool battlefield, but calling in reinforcements to artificially prolong a battle is getting old.

Oh boy, I can sense where the story is headed now in Triangle Strategy, and it's gonna be a doozy. Based on the upcoming inevitable Scales of Conviction vote about the salt crystals, we'll either lose Frederica to despair or we'll get the Roland heel turn I've been anticipating for a while now. I just don't see a way that we don't permanently lose a party member here without it seeming unrealistic unless there's some third option I haven't foreseen yet, but we'll see!

And the game just warned me that we're about to hit a turning point, so it appears my intuition is at least partly correct!

Whew, that was intense. I managed to convince Anna for the first time all game (Erador is always super easy to convince. All you have to do is invoke Symon and he'll side with you in a heartbeat), and we sided with Frederica. I was afraid they were about to kill off Benedict, which would've been a tough loss. I imagine he's not returning to the party though, for better or worse. I'll miss his buffs.

Anna was almost always the easiest to convince for me, haha.

Triangle Strategy Chapter 18 complete!

The fight against Lyla was pretty good, although I'm kinda sad we didn't get a proper "death scene" afterwards for her. We also learn that the Aelfric is made from Rosellan remains. I half expected this would made them not want to use it, but I was pleasantly surprised this didn't occur.

Yeah, Anna was always the easiest to convince for me. Benedict was the one most likely to just not care what I argued even if my arguments were landing and Geela was the one who was unexpectedly tricky in that she was hypothetically persuadable but I never had a great handle on what kind of arguments resonated with her. Roland to a lesser extent at times.

Chapter 17: I also sided with Frederica on my first playthrough and man that argument with Benedict is one of the high points in the game IMO.

Yeah, I don't think I've ever had luck with Benedict either, although he tends to have the strongest opinions of what we should do, so he isn't easily swayed. Everyone else is a mixed bag for me in terms of persuasion.
