Good choice. The Batman is three hours too long.

The Batman is far more worthwhile than Batman Returns.

The Batman does not feel like a long movie. I enjoyed it when I saw it.

Im sure Ill get around to it soon, but after watching Severance Im in a Walken mood and its probably been like a decade since Ive seen this movie, so it felt like the thing to do.

and Returns kicks ass so Im not regretting the choice

The Batman is a great time.

Easy #3 Batman movie at worst.

We watched it for 10 minutes and then immediately changed it.

ok now I watched the 89 Batman for the first time, so I have finally seen every Batman (except for The Batman)

89 is pretty dang good

also that means I watched four hours of Batman instead of watching three hours of Batman. Im a dingus.

might watch the new one later tonight. I am pretty sick with the covids and the Batman content is healing me

I think I probably have as a kid, but Im not 100% sure. I definitely saw a lot of the show. Might have to watch it sometime soon just to be certain.

Really good crime thriller

It was fine. It definitely felt long, especially near the end. A few times I found myself thinking "they could've cut this".

I think WB execs are scared to edit out too much content after the Snyder Cut thing.

Fell asleep during the batman in theatres

ok like half an hour into The Batman and its pretty funny how far fight scenes have come since the Keaton movies

Keaton would just kind of slowly deliberately walk up to a dude and smack em, barely ever dealing with more than one or two guys at a time

Pattinson is just straight up Arkham Asyluming.

Early Batman movie costumes were extremely uncomfortable and had limited movement if I remember right so that could largely be why the older fight scenes are that way

In some of the fights I felt like they were going for a similar tone as the Netflix DareDevil series, where Batman sometimes messes up and makes mistakes during the fights, actually gets hit by the thugs at times, and is kinda more forced to his limits while needing to fight from a recovery state... but gives it more of a sense of tension and grounds the combat in the movie. Instead of Batman perfectly executing every move during every fight, which looks cool but makes it feel like he's never in any danger. In addition to making things more dynamic, I also felt like it made some of the moments in the final battle even more awesome because it felt like Batman was operating at 100% efficiency, which was needed in those stressful moments, to take down some of the enemies with rapid precision before they could overwhelm him.

i appreciate Danos performance, but Im not totally stoked about how Saw he gets at points and I kinda hate the costume. Hes like 10% too edgy for me

Penguin, on the other hand, manages to be reasonably grounded but still a fun version of the character

the batman beated

a lot of good points, great atmosphere and feel of a detective thriller but lord does it absolutely feel like a 3 hour movie, towards the end you're just seeing every scene thinking alright this'll be the closer

The Batman was probably my favorite Batman film. It really captured everything that Batman really is, and did so rather elegantly. I thought the pacing was great and didn't really feel like a 3 hour movie to me.

The most egregious part was taking like 2 fucking minutes just to reach into a bat cage and grab a note.

This is me. Never been a fan of Riddler being Jigsaw but the movie was still pretty good.

I dunno, I'd addition to Jigsaw he was also part Q-anon prophet. 10 years ago I'd have said it was completely unrealistic that so many people would follow him and show up to do his bidding and now it's just a depressingly realistic fact of life.

I was kind of bothered by the direction they took him with that stuff at the end He went from having sort of reasonable, justifiable corrupt targets to wildly indiscriminate murder and destruction. He super abruptly made himself so much worse than the people he was mad at. Like he was a four on the evil scale and then suddenly went straight to a ten.

it's probably more to do with the fact that sociopathic, evil people often perceive their own sense of morals as being good and righteous. even better than the rest of us, because they know better than we do. and at times they can even CONVINCE you that what they are actually doing is good.

sure, the riddler was indiscriminately murdering people, but he was choosing targets who "deserved" to die so I guess maybe he's not that bad. but if you think about it, that's absurd. he was KILLING people. he had all of the information, he could have simply exposed their corruption. but he chose to murder them in cruel ways, and make a game out of it. he wasn't ever righteous. he was always insane.

the mask always drops. these people have an unchecked sense of self righteousnous. and no matter how much you cheer them on when they are targeting the people you hate, their indiscriminate lack of morals will eventually begin to target any people who they simply dislike. he targets bruce wayne, who we know did nothing wrong. and then he turns his ire against anyone who he perceives as having led a better life than he had. but it all started because his little cult of followers was cheering him on when he chose murder instead of exposing the corruption, because they made his head even bigger, and made him feel like choosing violence was the right thing to do.

killmonger is definitely evil but I still shake my head that Wakanda did not respect him winning the trial by combat or whatever, especially after showing that it's something any rando tribe leader can challenge the king with, let alone an actual prince

I enjoyed this at the beginning but it definitely starts to drag and fall apart by the 3rd hour.
