Prediction - I figure Kim ends up shopping for used vacuums and goes back to Nebraska. They have a fine Cinnabon there so I hear.

The scene was brilliantly written because I thought it was Lalo as soon as I saw that ominous shot of the candle flickering and Kim looking at it.

Then it was Howard. And then the candle flickers again and it's Lalo. Just...mean, really. But excellent.

I had the exact same thoughts.

Did anyone else notice the look that Kim gave Jimmy in that scene once Jimmy let on that, yes, it was them?

I thought they were going to play it completely straight and act like Howard was crazy. I'm thinking maybe that was Kim's idea too. Howard's going on about how brilliant it all was, and it was like Jimmy just couldn't resist making the comment that gave up that, yes, it really was their devious scheme. Jimmy says whatever he said, then Kim kinda half turns/gives the side eye, as if to say "the fuck you doing?"

I dunno. Maybe it doesn't mean anything now that Howard's dead but to me it felt like a meaningful look.

I think Kim somehow gets out of this alive and still practicing law. There was that fast forward sequence a couple seasons ago where Saul and Francesca are shredding documents and Saul hands her a card telling her to tell the police to talk to her attourney, then says "Tell them Jimmy sent you". Originally I was thinking that would end up being Howard's card, but obvious that can't be the case anymore

somehow i feel like all of season 6 is a bit kinda the two post-ozymandias BB episodes - things are getting resolved because they've tryin their course and need to be resolved to fit the future. just like how S5 of BB constrained the season by having that flashforward (which they didn't plan out in advance), the same thing is happening here to BCS, which is limited in its very premise as a prequel

one of my absolute least favorite moments from BB's run is how they killed andrea. needlessly cruel and added nothing to the story or characters. i feel slightly similarly for lalo whacking howard - howard want in the game and it wasn't his decisions that led to this moment. it wasn't really even saul or kim's decisions that led to that happening.

that said, the effect of howard's death, unlike andrea's, still have a chance to lead to something really interesting, so i'm still on board, just rather cautiously so.

What an absolutely cold take this is. The entire point of those 2 situations is to show that getting into the game immediately endangers people around you as collateral damage. Both of these deaths add important gravitas to the decisions made by these characters.

Nah, they've set everything up nicely that this will be super easy to handle. He showed up drunk/high to their place and killed himself in front of them. Stage the crime scene, everyone at HHM that day saw how unhinged he was, the natural assumption would be that he shot himself

Andrea's death was definitely cheap garbage. Nothing like Jane's death, which made a very deep cutting point.

I kinda agree Howard's death is pretty superficial. But it's important to show Kim the consequences. Jimmy already knows the danger due to Chuck.

Yeah I agree with Turtle here. The ultimate takeaway of the BB universe is that crime doesn't pay. Whether your reasons for getting into the game are money, vengeance, the thrill, or an actual altruistic desire to better off your family - you and those around you will be ultimately worse off, oftentimes tragically so. The "collateral deaths" like Andrea serve to hammer that point home.

"Andrea never deserved that"

Right. Blame everyone involved, including Jesse.

I feel like BB waffled on that a bit at the very end which is why the series should have ended like one minute before the actual end of Granite State.

I'd still say that Walt's children are much worse off due to his actions even if they wound up getting the money.

Feeling-wise, yes, Andrea's death in BB felt especially cruel in a show already not kind to Jesse. Plot-wise, I get the idea that they made it vividly clear to Jesse that they could still get her child next if he tries to escape, but since we've already seen Todd kill a kid in front of Jesse before and knowing Andrea already lost a kid to this side of the world...just felt like it was too much.

The brilliant thing about these writers are...well, plenty of reasons really, but to this conversation: they allow you to see these people's bad intentions to the height of their intelligences with formidable obstacles in their way...and then, even when enjoying their executions and successes, it sucks you into the pain that by all means should be coming from such plans too. They let you see how your reasons still go down Bad Choice Road, with it without your intentions. How many of these characters actually had a retirement plan and got to it? How many characters ended with their goals achieved and in-hand? How many characters are better off now than before? Many of the victims here weren't nearly as involved with the drugs and swindling as Walt and Saul. We as viewers are at a safe distance to enjoy the excitement beat-to-beat, but when it comes down to it by the end our emotional investments are paying for ever thinking these were good ideas.

And ironically, we love the writers for that feeling.

imo you can definitely choose that as the ending and it makes sense. The last episode is pure power fantasy and feels dream-like.

I don't think this season was as good as the prior seasons but definitely some good moments. I probably should have refreshed my memory on what had happened because I felt like I missed out on some details.

I rolled my eyes at Lalo surviving last season and this season didn't let up at how OP he was.

i absolutely love watching lalo as a screen presence, but i can't help but wonder what the point is - we know he doesn't get anywhere with gus in the end, so what exactly is his role supposed to be?
