Just explored the capital city for a few hours. It feels like there's still places I haven't seen, and I've killed a couple bosses and some optional not-quite-bosses. Also I hear there's multiple dungeons underneath the city, and I haven't found any of those lol

Ah! The super tall guy who shoots you in the back, I killed him and took his bell bearing lol.

So far theres two NPCs that have met the wrong end of my spiked club: Him (for treachery) and the sorcerer in the church in the chapel outside the north end of Stormveil.

i have no idea who you're talking about, no one shot me in the back or had a bell on them

I decided to head over north west since I hadn't been that way yet

i went back into the area with the ants. i made a mistake.

I havent run into any ants yet, but those hand spiders make me feel bad.

I just cleared the hand spider manor yesterday, my skin was crawling the whole time

Btw a patch was released and some strong options got nerfed, like Hoarfrost Stomp, Mimic Tear, Sword of Night & Flame, Bloody Slash, and Barricade Shield. I was in the middle of making a Bloody Claymore so that kinda sucks. Didn't get to experience the other options yet though. Fortunately Bloodhound Fang was untouched (for now at least)

Question: I was upgrading a short bow for a long time but ran out of arrows mid Stormveil and used some random crossbow and theyre awesome too. What do you guys use for a range weapon? I have the black key, soldier, light, heavy crossbows and an alberest. For bows I have the short bow and horn bow.

Glintstone Pebble. It's a starting spell as Astrologer and one shots most scrub enemies unless I'm in a higher level area

You get a pretty gnarly greatsword south of Weeping Peninsula. Not sure if it will suit your particular build well but it's a cool looking weapon

They also have the berserk great sword in the Caelid region in one of the carriages. I see tons of people run that. It has a nasty poke that I have seen people reck face with in pvp. Although, I am not a big fan of strength weapons against bosses, since you can't poise break most of them.

Yeah, that is pretty much the standard speed run weapon. Not only does it weapon arte destroy bosses, but it upgrades with somber smithy stone so it is easy to upgrade.

One of the things I dislike about this game is how hard it is to upgrade standard smithing stone weapons. It takes loads of smith stone and there is not enough in the main dungeons so you have to go into the boring mines for more/bell bearing. I almost wish the system was similar to the somber: one per tier.

Look at today's patch notes.

I've gotten alot further so a few things I have found that work really well.

Longbow or hornbow both are great for long range shooting, plain shortbow works great to get status effects (especially bleed) with Barrage.

The grafted greatsword from the morn castle (easy boss fight) is good initially but you need 27 strength to wield it in 2 hands. That isn't too bad though because you need 24 strength for the wyrm valcano sword which you get pretty soon after (which is my current favorite) anyway. I just put my strength up to 30 to make it even. The wyrm greatsword is freaking awesome and with my stats and +5 somber stone used (Still have not found a freaking +6 stone), it does about 400 damage a pop (freaking nice).

The grafted does less but it's good vs enemies who are strong against fire (sine the wurm does fire and physical), and the grafted oesn't require faith (I'm a faith build).

Lightning bolt is still my best faith spell and it tears things up. My faith is about 32 as well. I want to get that all the way up to 40 eventually but had to put a few points into endurance to keep medium rolls with the wyrm sword (and my starter armor) along with my talismans (turtle for stamina regen and +5 faith).

Nothing that I have seen beats shortbow with blood arrows for getting status effects on an enemy though using barrage. Seriously rocks on high hp monsters, though i don't really use it anymore since my wyrm sword does so much damage. I literally got the golden scarab when I ended up using all my FP and health potions to get to the enterance of the boss fight. I had nothing less because of the stupid rot that I got along the way. I had JUST enough FP left in fact, to summon the solves. I killed the first guy with my sword before the second guy even spawned, and got hit by 2 discs (not enough to kill me) before I took the second guy down with a sliver of health left (mind you a few days ago I tried the fight with full everything and failed).

Next up (and it'll take awhile) I wanna pump faith to 40, then vitality to 40, then start working on endurance for more stamina and to wear better defensive armor (and eventually more talismans). I think I can get another talisman slot right now by beating another boss from what I understand, and then you don't get the 4th till much later.

I currently have only 9 flasks, so that is another project I have, getting more flasks, just getting up to 12 would be amazing, but honestly I don't really have flask troubles usually anymore. My damage is high enough that I either die, or kill the enemy before running out. Still more is always good.

Finally, though I love my wolves, they blow, so , I need to eventually find a better summon. I have quite a few options that I have not tried yet, and I only upgraded the wolves to level 3. They were ok initially but everything almost one shots them now, often all 3 at once, so they need to be stabled I guess.

Hoarfrost stomp now takes me 7 shots to kill an ogre, which took me 3 last night. So its power has been reduced more than half. The casting speed seems the same though they say it was increased in the patch notes.

I love finding some out of the way dungeon- found one with a narly Mirrored helmet last night though its heavy as shit.

Going back around clearing out dungeons and bosses and places I missed earlier before I go to the second half of the story. This game is so big x_x I'm like level 116 or something. 54 hours. I might go respec. I put a bunch of points into faith, and upgraded my finger charm to like +26 or something riidiculous like that, and my miracles just don't do the damage I was expecting of them.

I also don't find my miracles keeping up with my sword damage, but it is nice to have the high damage lightning as a backup, and I only have 30 points in my faith (have upgraded my seal a bunch and keep it maxed based on the stones I get.

My sword rocks though, and it's kinda nice to have backup healing (which I use alot more now then spells) even if I'm getting to the point where I don't have to worry about flasks much.

Not sure if there would be much point in my respecing to be honest. I got my Vitality to 40 and my mind is high enough for 130 FP (really don't need more). I upgraded my oleg knight dude to +5 and he rips things up (Sorry wolves). Still a ton for me to explore. I spent a freaking hour trying to break into that stupid chasm in Caelid (Selfie river or something like that) but finally gave up and looked it up, only to find the only way in is through a freaking elevator on the other side of the map lol.

Was just exploring that before taking a break, but I have so many more things still to do. Love this game.

Not really sure where I wanna go leveling wise next (I'm about level 80-90 now). I do good damage with my wrym sword (physical and fire.....and scales well with both str and faith). That out performs any of my incantations easily, but lightning is still nice for flying mobs or a few that getting close to is a real pain etc.

I have not died to a boss in awhile, though I have come close a few times.

If I replay (or if I respec,but I'll probably just play from scratch), I may do a dex/int build next with sorceries, bows and an int based weapon. No healing at all, but it sounds like fun (getting any status effects I need from short bow + barrage + arrows).

For now though, enjoying destroying things with my sword, while having almost infinite hp as long as I have enough time to heal lol.

I could be wrong but I think the claymores in Stormveil castle. Im pretty sure I have it and got it somewhere in there (havent used it yet).

edit: No I just looked it up and its in castle Morne (weeping peninsula). All these castles look alike lol

The Berserk sword is in Caleid I think in one of those carts

I don't think that really helps that much. Unless they are constantly dropping them, it does not solve the issue that you need 12 stones per tier to upgrade a weapon with normal smithing stone instead of the one that somber requires. Yeah, it was 12 stones per tier in Dark Souls, but you had 3 tiers instead of 8, so by the end of the game you usually had enough to upgrade several weapons. In my last play through of DS 3, I had like 5 weapons I upgraded to max, just with the junk lying around the normal levels. In Elden Ring, I struggle to upgrade even one weapon to max level with normal smithing stone. It hurts the gameplay since you don't feel like you can try out as many weapons. You kind of stick with the one you put a lot of upgrades into and treat the other weapons like collectors items.

At first I thought this video was edited, because illusory walls always sort of Gaussian blur away but I went and wailed on this same wall for like 2-3 min straight and sure enough it popped just like that.

Maybe some of the messages really aren't lying then.

Jesus freaking christ this game is huge.

So yeah, I broke down and watched a walkthrough on how to do the Ranni quest lol. I was like at part 3 of it or so and just lost. Heck I'd even found the freaking underground lake area, just didn't know where the beast dude was.

So I'm like screw this I'll look it up (I hate doing that).

So I look it up and start watching to see what I have to do on the quest and it's like an hour long sped up and so much stuff I don't even know how anyone ever figured all that out the first time let alone in like 3 weeks or so.

IT's crazy, I ain't even trying to do all that right now.

Game is so freaking huge lol.
