I found some like Eye of Sauron looking thing that made my eyes explode if it looks at me too long like the brain in Bloodborne.

Also I found a castle with hand spiders and decided I've played enough video games today.

I wish Mimic tear didn't exist, it's so Overpowered and I wish I didn't have a weak will. I think on this next playthrough I'm just not gonna grab it.

Yeah that dude. I was zipping around on horseback and kinda rushed in there not knowing what was ahead of me and it was "Surprise! Boss fight!" lol. I'm not leveled enough for that fella. My spells were barely chipping away at him

He drops a really good lance. The L2 is a 20% damage buff for you and all your allies. Also the knights in the swamp around him drop a really good armor set called Cleanrot.

I don't think I could take him without help until I level up. I did find a grace spot right outside when I went back for my souls so at least I can get back there easy

Cleared Raya Lucaria academy!

Im around there now. Played for like 10 hours last night holy crap just like the old days!

There was a mine down below I cleared out that had a ton of 2 and 3 smithing stones and I was able to get my Spiked Club+4 all the way to 11 (yeeeeeah baby).

As an aside I now have 34 hours in this game and have earned only 1% of the achievements (wtf!)

I also found an axe with Hoarstomp Frost on it, everything they said is true this is way way too OP a skill to put on something I just randomly found easily in the swamp.

Ewww, Hoarstomp Frost. Disgusting. Although who am I kidding, on my new character I have been dual wielding bleed daggers (mostly role playing as an rogue character) & each bleed proc has been taking like a quarter of a bosses HP. I first attempted Margit at level 15 with a only +2 weapon and he was at half health in mere seconds (although, the second phase is really where Margit shows his muscle). Probably get the bloodhounds step & zoom around the battlefield that one is pretty fun from my experimenting.

Siofra River, I just found this the other day. I didn't find those archers annoying (yet) but I've read that a lot of people hate these things so maybe I just haven't run into a setup akin to the Anor Londo duo.

I'm about 18 hours in and have hardly done any of the main story yet, just off screwing around like a TRUE confessor of the church probably would.

Yeah, that is the build I choose for my first playthrough. Never could find the cool non buff incants. Pretty much played as an underpowered warrior most of the time because of this. Although, the rotten dragon breath was pretty effective on bosses even if it didn't seem too paladin like to be spewing scarlet rot all over enemies.

So my brother is 70 hours in. Like level 130~ or something. He is probably only like 2/3 of the way through. He keeps finding new areas and things and is like "how the hell does this game keep going?!" But he's also playing very thoroughly, exploring every inch of the world, and doing every single dungeon and quest he can. I even showed him things he somehow missed, and it led to things I didn't even know about lol

I keep switching between my magic/astrologer user and my melee/faith user.

They are both fun, but I enjoy the faith user more at this point and will stick with him. He is still using the starting greatsword for now...really need to get a better weapon later on.

He has some good incantations including a fireball, but can also use heal if melee is the best bet, allowing to keep going like an energizer bunny....which is really nice compared to my mage.

I need to try bleed eventually, only have one weapon with it so far, but heard good things. i really like my greatsword for now though since it two shots most things (at least with a starting jump attack. When I ran through the first divine area (to power up Godricks rune) having my greatsword to deal with all those fools and unlimited health really rocked.

The real question long term is if I need to focus on arcane at all to boost bleed, if that is really good, instead of boosting say strength up more (currently strength is only 20).

Considering going seriously into faith later once I get my vigor and mind up a bit more (wanna try and at least keep them high enough to get the full use out of potions.

Really love the game though, best by far in the series and may be my game of all time (we will see).

Love incantations they have so much more variety than just magic. I was getting kinda bored of just spamming the same magic spells.

I fought some enemy in one of those blue things to get a big ball of exploding flame, and the battle was kinda epic. I couldn't melee the fool, and I could ONLY hit him with my fireball at the very end of an attack combo he did (otherwise he would dodge). So I literally backed away from him for 20+ minutes waiting for the attack animation and firingoff my fireball right at the end when he couldn't dodge. I killed him with my last fireball (no more poitons or mana) lol, it was that close.

Some of this stuff I seriously don't know how you melee. I'm guessing you need much more hp, endurance and probably defenses to melee it.

hey i just started a couple hours ago and am getting bodied

i dont think i have much to contribute that hasn't already been said but it feels so mechanically polished compared to previous souls games, even just having the jump button feels really nice for getting around the landscape

Yeah I feel like this a lot. Im at 45 hours in, basically played it again all day today too.

I finally discovered the Weeping Peninsula (I guess everyone goes here early but I even went to friggin CAELID before this place). Found the Turtle shield which I just KNEW From was going to put something at the top of one of those towers and holy crap they sure did hah. Did the whole Margot Castle or whatever it is with all the harpy things taking it over, even killed the boss out back on the beach near all the jellyfish and got a cool-ass greatsword that boosts all your attributes with the weapon skill.

Then decided to once again try Margit, who I fought once around level 17 and got crushed. Was a big difference going there at level 41! Had to summon Rogier the wizard and use my wolves and still took two tries to defeat him but hes dead. But now. Ah, Stormveil Castle.. I think Im gonna hate this place. I keep getting slaughtered by the most accurate machine-gunning ballista ever made, then they toss in a ton of guys with fire spears and some lion with a sword taped to its arm (no, really).

I had to shut it off, I was getting frustrated like the Souls games of old haha..

I'm only 30 hours in but yeah, I did the castle already and it's really freaking deadly, I hate those feaking eagles soooo much.

There is also soooo freaking much in there, it's alot to unpack lol. Literally hours and hours to explore it all. Might want to take a break halfway through and go explore the wilderness more.

Highly suggest before doing any of the harder content (such as godrick etc) that you have.

A: A good summon you like, possibly leveled up. Jellyfish works pretty well early on due to poison and survivability.

B: good ranged attack. If your going non-magic you can make a bow work, but a ranged spells is really useful. I used the fireball incantation which you can charge. It one shots (when charged) the feaking eagles....who suck...hard.....so yeah, have something like that.

C: a way to heal outside of potions. Honestly unless you feel like exploring all over and getting like 10 flasks or something (I did the castle with 6), you need heal at some points (or I guess god level skill heh). It's way more efficient to use melee for killing most stuff (of which there is tons) and just ranged spells on eagles/bats etc.

That'll get you through it, though the more you prepare the better and you don't really get anything for beating him and activating the rune (It adds +5 to all stats but only till you die, which you will do when your fighting anything actually tough or exploring dangerous places...so basically you won't have the stats when you need them.

beat the game. Melania was the most ridiculously hard boss by far. I beat the last boss on my first try lol

I mean, if you're impatient you can look up a guide but you'll find better shit if you keep playing. I've got piles of weapons I can't use as I'm building a sorcerer, but I've also got a pile of Faith spells which are useless to me rn as I've been focused on Intelligence lol

But there are spell vendors... You just gotta find them

Yeah it took me a really long time before I found more miracles too, like 20 hours at least.

Weapons were like that at first, but now Im swimming in them. Problem is Im too attached to my spiked club Ive been using for most of 45 hours now, though I just found the 140 crit dagger in Stormveil and really want to use that for something too.

Try not to use a guide if you can, its way better when you find something cool on your own. I found the turtle shield that way and it was great.

I'm not using a guide, but I'm not going to discourage anyone from doing so if it makes the game more fun for them

As someone with very little time for video games (only had a half hour last night, which was surprisingly productive) I completely understand how the exploratory, cryptic nature of these games - while fun for me - can be frustrating and bothersome for someone else. If a guide turns a frustrating experience into an enjoyable one, have at it I say

My brother relented to trying Bloodborne again - after initially giving up with only a couple hours in the game - when I wouldn't shut up about how great it is. He looked up a build that pretty much broke the game and a guide to how to get that build done as fast as possible, and he ended up playing the whole game through in about a week and loved it.

There will always be those tryhard Souls fans who look down their nose at people who don't play these games "the way you're supposed to" but fuck that noise let people play how they want

I wish I could play more too, as it is I dont know how I put 45 hours in already. A couple days I played a ton of hours in a row but its mostly an hour max at night after my 10 month old goes to bed.

Yeah I'm in the same boat. Only play once the kids are asleep on nights that my wife works, but I get up at 5 AM for work so most nights I get an hour or two at most. Takes me months to finish open world games lol

I've watched people on YouTube beat the entire Souls catalog without taking damage even once and it blows my mind. Seems impossible to someone of my skill level
