A great pokemon game can crush these votes but when one is even slightly questionable they don't do as well. There is a lot of negativity around this game. Whether its the poor coding, the chibi graphics after Sword/Shield, the graphics being blurry, or the real lack of life in the graphics there are a lot of complaints. Personally I think its fine, its not as exciting as Sword/Shield but its serviceable. The great underground is the major new thing even though it kinda already existed in the original version, its just expanded. That being said its a good upgrade.

People didn't play a lot of games this year I guess

I got to the third gym, realized you couldn't change your hair, and quit playing.

I only played 2 new games this year, so I technically could have listed BDSP as my #2, but that didn't seem fair as it's not even in the same league as my #1. So I excluded it.

It is a good Pokemon game though. Not even the worst of the 4 remake games.

The long awaited true online Mario Party hit, was big for about a week and then kinda faded away. Still its a pure experience without the usual awful gimmicks that plagued this series for nearly a decade. It left enough of an impression despite its lack of boards though. Gamers are hoping for the usual free dlc rollout for this one still.

Releasing the multiplayer first was a good move as it drew a lot of interest in the campaign. Halo Infinite starts off with a bombastic mission that leads into an open world game that basically becomes Halo Far Cry. The story takes a back seat for playground shenanigans.

Poor Halo. 12th is fine but compared to how high 5 and 4 got it seems a little low!

Lets be real here if this was a full Mario game instead of a 3-5 hr experience, it'd likely be in the top 5. Bowsers Fury is an open world take on Mario where the world expands as you gain more power something I've only seen done by Lego Indiana Jones 2 but this was actually done better. A beautiful adventure on a lake that I think many wish was even bigger.

I've already played SM3DW on Wii U and have little to no interest in replaying it on Switch. Is Bowser's Fury alone worth the price of admission?

to me its an experience that I treasured but ...its hard to justify the pricetag. I paid for it but theres always the other way cough cough cough

Bowser's Fury is fantastic. Hangs with all the upper tier 3D Mario games, IMO. I got it from the library, so I didn't have to pay for it, which made the price tag not really an obstacle for me. I'd personally recommend renting it or borrowing from a friend if possible, but if you don't mind paying full price for a great 5 hour game, go for it. Alternatively, you could buy a physical copy and resell it - Switch games go for pretty close to full price when reselling, so that's a cheap option.

I almost liked Bowser's Fury, but the stars where you have to literally just sit and wait for bowser to come out and break blocks, ruined the game for me. I'll probably never play through it again.

I'd agree that those aren't the best design, but I arranged it so that I could get them while doing other stuff. I never had to do much waiting.

Deltarune too low

I'd guess a lot of people are waiting to play Deltarune until it's finished. I know I am.

yeah, I like Undetale enough that Ill probably check out Deltarune when its all out, but not enough that I feel compelled to play each episode right away

I played the first chapter but don't know that I'll keep up with it until it's all out

I'm okay with episodic releases if the story's compelling enough in between, but not if it's gonna be several years between each chapter. I can barely even remember what happened in the first at this point

Aka The Kentucky Route Zero effect, where it was completely stupid to play the game episodically when Act 5 was so contingent on remembering all that came before it.

Yeah I bought Kentucky Route Zero, played the first 3 acts I think, and never ended up finishing the game after the rest released because it had just been too long

Also in the waiting for Deltarune to be done before playing it base.

the next release of Deltarune is going to be the full game unless Toby changes his mind - I understand waiting to play it though (even though the 2 chapters of Deltarune that exist are about as long as Undertale, give or take, for what it's worth)

Hmm, is that right? I thought he said it was going to have two more releases each with multiple chapters for a total of 7 chapters.

Oh I could be wrong? I thought he was just gonna release the whole thing at once but I might have misread or not be up to date

yeah, I think he said the next release would be the next three chapters, and then the final two after

episodic releases used to bother me but given development times... not to get blue here but a person can die at any moment

After 20 long years we are delivered a new Snap game and its fantastic. Filled with different stages, variations, leveling up that changes how pokemon act....Really the game is awesome. Fans of the n64 classic might miss the pester ball but the game has a ton of activity in it. I went expecting a quick cash in and found a way more expansive game that had any right to be there.
