The Playstation 5 exclusive lands in the #25 spot. A roguelike horror shooter with a sci fi cherry on top. Returnal is all about that next run as you eternally loop thru the bullet hell...hellscapes of an alien world. Selene is quick and nimble but fragile, but much like Isaac and other roguelikes its all about that luck and persistence.

Or maybe its become an every two iterations thing that everyone ooos and ahhhs.

Golf is back but uh whoops left the online tournaments at home. Speed golf is a combination of golfing with a mario kart like dash to the next swing, the fastest wins rather than the best stroker. Many boards are based off Odyssey and the game has a lot wacky hazards as expected.

Personas big brother returns to the glorious full front. Focusing combat over story as the main series has usually skewed. SMTV wants to fight you, and beat you to a pulp. If you want to explore the depths of its genius you'll need to be prepared for the long haul. The game does a lot more with movement and speed to make the usually slogging first person dungeon crawler evolve into the 3rd person point of view. All the elements of the main SMT series games remain here for better or worse. Just don't bother playing if you can't handle the challenge.

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons (#40 in 2013)

First we were coop brothers on one controller, then convicts escaping from prison, and now a married couple turned into toys trying to get home. It Takes Two on paper sounds like a hard pass but its an experience chock filled with interactivity, platformer abilities, and unique situations that constantly unfold. The only draw back of this platformer is it requires a second person to play.

I'm pausing for now until tomorrow when ill continue with #17

Filled with creative bosses, puzzles and challenging combat. If you like any of those first three words you might enjoy this gloomy themed action adventure

DD's okay, but it's a bit sad it got so much more publicity than Unsighted, a similar and much better game.

I just looked up unsighted because I put DD on my GOTY list and... it looks like crap. I think I have found why it was ignored.

I've heard nothing but great things about Unsighted.

this is no different than that one year the GameCube was horrendous but we got the RE4 demo disc and that was the GOTY

In America, Tales of Symphonia. Also, Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door and Metroid Prime 2

Right so the RE4 demo disc was the clear winner we all knew what was coming

several games that came out in 2004 are better than re4 altogether, let alone the demo disk

You know, the RE4 demo disc might legitimately be my goty for then too

Another devolver digital published game hits the list. Inscryption is a horror roguelike deck-building game which if you don't like cards you certainly want to run away from this one. I'm told not to say too much more about this game except that it has more than one trick up its sleeve if you are willing to deal in.

Never got into it
I was a fun of almost every major gaming genre at some point but this...I couldn't get into card games at all

SMTV is very good, did have some problems with it for sure, but can never say it was a disappointment...well in any way that matters at least.

So some clarification here. The cutoff last year was the 15th meaning this game was eligible for this year, but because of its inclusion this year it will not be eligible for the Switch release next year

That being said this is a very spoilery heavy title which is why its trailers are that barebones
