He's not a prettybo--oh wait now he is. Well, he's not a teenag--oh, they declared he was 20, when he was in charge of the army. Well, at least his name is norma--oh, it's "Sess-ill." Well, at least he's already in a relationship before the game starts. That's one thing I appreciate about Rosa -- there's zero 'will they or won't they.' Cecil's great as a "can I be redeemed, I'm such a monsterrrr" character, they know just the right amount to push that angle before it gets stale. He gets a bit boring after that scene because his development as a character is basically over, but I'll accept it. Cecil accepted who and what he is and has decided to move on and be the true image of a noble knight. And he has one of the best scenes in the series, where he battles his evil doppelganger to purge himself of the darkness. That's sort of the point of the scene, where the power of darkness can't stand against the light, just like how literal light banishes literal darkness. It's what's called a metaphor. I bring this up because I know he's a style switcher in Dissidia, where both skills are equally useful. Yes, I will complain about that. Basically what I'm saying is that the dark knight is meant to be a weak class because the whole point is that you're relying on a weak source of power, and that Cecil becoming a paladin is both literally and figuratively him finding a new, stronger source of power. It's almost the same thing as the Dark Side of the Force, where everyone completely misunderstood it. The whole point of 'bringing balance to the Force' was that the natural status of the Force is good, like the Jedi, and the Dark Side is just a corruption. Everything except the Lucas movies misunderstands that and treats the Dark Side as equal to the "Light Side," which is never referenced in the six movies he made because the "Light Side" is just the natural state of things. I can't believe that George Lucas is the only person who understood such an obvious concept, or else that everyone else understood it and just preferred a Yin-Yang interpretation. ** Yin-Yang interpretations of things, there I said it. I bring this up because dark knight shouldn't be a real class in the same way that thief or blue mage is a real class. Anyway Cecil is cool. Surprise. Decisive Battle was the best track. Zidane/Garnet Relationship Veldt Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest music Ixion Goblins Cloud and Barret being bi Final Fantasy Dissidia 1 Final Fantasy X-2: Remember when a sequel to a specific FF was a new idea, and people argued if it would be canon? Anyway, this is not a good game. By any fair metric, it's kind of bad. Trying to get 100% completion just straight-up requires GameFAQs (I got the second to best ending blind), the main characters are just completely intolerable, the rival trio are also really bad, and 90% of it is reused assets. But everyone likes the job changing system, which is genuinely cool and fun. That's the one thing people talk about with this game, the job system. No one talks about how Lulu is randomly sidelined so we can get a second goth chick. People do talk about Tidus returning to life, though. I guess I don't hate that part, but it does sort of cheapen FFX's perfect bittersweet ending. Anyway, I'd say my biggest issues with this game are Yuna's personality change and how you simply require a guide to get some of the jobs. I have to believe it sounds less stupid in Japanese. It also doesn't help that this series doesn't have tough moms, does it? How many moms does it even have? Tidus' mom, Terra's mom, Bartz's mom, Cloud's mom, Squall's mom, Zell's mom, Relm's mom, Terra, Red XIII's mom, Aerith's mom, Queen Brahe, and Lulu. Of those, I can charitably describe two of them as tough, and they're still just mages, so not even tough by adventurer standards. I acknowledge that it makes the game harder and adds a different type of strategy into the mix, but it also makes the game way less fun. In total honesty, even games that do use Vancian casting competently (like Baldur's Gate), I could still imagine them using MP instead and being better for it. Four: she's in love with Vanille. Then robopope shows up. Look, I wanted to like Fang, I think she has a good visual design, but I just don't.
