I hated the main character, it would be so much better without him. And some of the super powers (cause that is basically what some of the special abilities are) in it are just to much for me.

Yeah, pretty much this for me too, though I wouldn't go quite so far as to say I hate the main character.

I just... Like basically every other relevant character in the series more than him.

Is it releasing weekly in Japan after the intial dump? They definitely won't do that here if so, and people will just go back to pirating after the first drop.

I haven't heard either way though. Due to the Netflix stuff I havent really been following this at all.

I've never downloaded it before. If I have the convenience of watching weekly as soon as it comes out from my couch on my Playstation I don't mind the silly names.

But if it's gonna be a delaycast anyways that I have to get on my phone or PC then there's no point.

Isn't this the opposite of a delaycast? It's the same style that something like B or Great Pretender were - 12 episodes on Netflix, then those 12 episodes air on Japanese TV later.

I got my info from the Japanese anime Twitter post

"From Wednesday December 1 2021 Netflix will start exclusively pre-delivery of episodes 1 - 12 worldwide. TV broadcasting is scheduled to start on January 7, 2022 on TOKYO MX and others"

I suppose the way one could look at it is once the 12 weeks of airing on Japan are done that might be enough time for another dump on Netflix of the next batch? So yea technically not a complete Netflix jailing but it still kinda fucks with anime discussion

That implies to me they will start over again in the winter season and probably continue on through spring and summer.

I am very curious to see how Netflix us handles it from there. If even a single new episode releases in Japan past the 12 episode dump without another batch or simulcast in the US then the entire Netflix release is worthless. Maybe they'll surprise us though.

This being a show they snatched up and fucked with that already had a following and even a CULTURE around it's consistent release schedule makes the ice that much thinner. They're doing Komi weekly though which means there's ground to stand on...but it's also a 3 week delay...and also those subs are real shit.

But see that doesn't make sense to me either unless they're delaying a month of TV airing every time? Which....isn't how anime scheduling works, typically.

Edit...OK so, after pulling up a trailer on YouTube to hear the new dub, I have found out that both the old dub and new dub are apparently exclusive to the nearly $200 collector's edition, and the regular edition only has the Netflix dub.

So I will be returning this to Amazon as soon as it comes in.

Rewatching Interviews With Monster Girls. Nice, pleasant show that seems more thoughtful about the genre than you'd think. Stupid comedy, but relatively tasteful. Always like going back to it.

The recent Boogiepop and Others is a more direct adaptation of the novels, while Boogiepop Phantom was an original sequel to the Manticore plot arc in the first novel.

Technically speaking you would watch the new Boogiepop first, yes, but it's really not something I would say is necessary. The plot of Boogiepop is vague and interspersed plenty as is.
