Build Divide: Code Black - Looks like we got another card game series not that the description mentions cards at all.

Pride of Orange - Ice hockey girls show where every image Ive seen makes it look more like an idol show than hockey. Hoping it will be decent.

Shikizakura - As far as I can tell this is Mecha vs demons I think which might be interesting.

Lupin III: Part 6 - One day I might check out all the Lupin parts.

Rumble Garanndoll - Alternate reality Japan invades real Japan with robots. Ok.

Kyoukai Senki - Another robot show by SunriseBeyond? Must be a new branch.

Megaton-kyuu Musashi - This sounded way more interesting before the description mentioned robots. Goddamn all the robot stuff is crammed into the end of the chart I guess.

Digimon Ghost Game - Maybe, but I still feel like the first two seasons or so were the peak of this series.

Russian Vampire Space Racism is enough to start. Going to give a lot more stuff a try this season. The last two season I was honestly completely enveloped by FFXIV and couldn't bring myself to put time to the side to watch anything, but now that's cooled down to null for the next month and a half at least, so I'm back on the wagon.

Also, Funimation sub formatting is absolutely falling apart across the board it seems. Actually translations and spelling are fine from what I can tell, but punctuation and grammar is all over the please at least two or three times an episode of everything I've tried so far.. Wonder what's going on over there?

Speaking of apps, now HIDIVE is pulling a Funi and going solo. I guess watching Land of the Lustrous again on VRV last week right before it went away was a smart move.

Sheesh. If they get a PS4 app (no reason why they wouldn't, that's ANOTHER service I gotta buy. Only $4 it looks like, but steam service licensing is a clusterfuck.

Divine Fighting Machine G's Flame - From what I can tell I think anichart missed this show thats starting October 12. I couldnt find it anywhere on the chart at least. Its another robot show and it stars Rie Takahashi so I might check it out since shes great.

Mac please let me know tomorrow if the new Muv Luv is something that will allow me to experience the story without having to read a 100 hour universally derived rom-com first.

Just as a note: Muv-Luv Extra is about 10 hours for the required content IIRC, and then you get Unlimited, which is actually good (not amazing, but a solid 7/10), which is maybe 15-20? Extra is extremely bad though yeah.

I'm skeptical about whether they'll be able to pull of Alternative on its own. Maybe with a very skilled writer, but it'd be kinda like doing just the Answer arcs of Higurashi, or starting Steins;Gate with the second half. We'll see though I guess.

It's been like a decade, but the last time Muv Luv came up from me asking about it back when I was first getting into VNs, it was basically everyone who had read it talking about how you have to get through a very long terrible slice of life romantic comedy that everyone hates to get to the good stuff, but that there was no way to appreciate the good stuff without playing that part.

Everyone seemed to think it was worth it, though! It just wasn't what I was looking for at the time (also I thought the art was real has which was probably the main issue).

Although from what your saying now...maybe it's way shorter than I thought? Maybe at the time saying a lame VN was was 15-20 hours to get through just SOUNDED impossibly long, and that memory continued to inflate in my brain? How times have changed.

They might have been counting Muv-Luv Unlimited. I think many people don't like Unlimited either, though I personally thought it was reasonably good.

Muv-Luv Extra is probably about 10-15 hours. Maybe more if you want to do the side routes but why on earth would you want to do that. Unlimited was probably in the 15-20 hour range? Not 100% sure there.

Muv-Luv Alternative was pretty great but I don't know if I'd say it's worth it or not. Extra is very very bad and also I suspect I wouldn't be quite as big on Alternative if I read it now.

I did all the optional Extra routes because I'm an idiot and was obsessed with VNs back then. They're all better than the mandatory routes but they're also all bad anyway lol.

It's definitely worth holding the skip button to skip dialogue during the lengthy bad parts of Extra (cooking, lacrosse).

It's wierd because I KNOW that a decade ago Muv-Luv was a huge deal and always came up in VN talks, but I don't think I've seen it mentioned once since my original inquiries, despite having heard it off hand all the time before then.

If I recall correctly, a couple years ago there was even a Muv-Luv spinoff anime that didn't even have Muv-Luv in the name, and not a single human being on this earth talked a out it once.

I guess to my uninformed mind, the most likely culprit is that the translated VN landscape has just become way more stacked since then and Muv-Luv has been left in the past?

The game called "Muv-Luv" consists of 2 parts--Extra and Unlimited--which are effectively separate VN's. (I should clarify there is a continuous story thread through both and also leading into Alternative though)

I think the spinoff anime is some entirely different anime-original thing which was generally considered awful, though I never watched it myself.

There are a couple Muv-Luv spinoff anime that were reasonably popular. Total Eclipse and Schwarzesmarken (the second is the one without ML in the name).

ML's still popular AFAIK. MLA still the top rated VN on vndb.

So before the end of the Wano arc do we think Luffy awakens his devil fruit ability? They're trying to keep it a secret from him that onigashima is going to fall and I could see a situation where right before it impacts he finds out and awakens his ability to turn the ground to rubber and bounce it back up into the air to give momo enough time to get some clouds under it

I kinda wonder if Luffy would even do that. It feels uncharacteristic for him to have an environmental ability like that. It's a very "villain" kind of power imo.

Between FF8 having a hockey rink with actual evil hockey players, and this...Japan might actually play hockey. I mean, you'd think some areas of the country have to be cold enough. Then again, all you hear about is baseball and sumo/pro wrestling. Maybe soccer (cause soccer's fucking everywhere). Then again, this could one of those, "There hasn't been a sport anime about this yet. LET"S DO IT NOW!" sort of things.

Goblin Slayer lightened up a "smidge" once new characters showed up. I thought I would be bothered by how boldfaced and gameified the D&D dialogue banter is, but I don't think it goes overboard. They get back to "hey they are actual people again" rather quickly.

I mean...not much, but enough. The brutal goblin killing murderhobo fest is enough of a hook to overlook it all.

But seriously. This is a walking D&D infotainment commercial except if goblins were r****** and it featured Mandalorian. Could be way way worse.
