Higurashi anime was not as good as the VN, but it was totally fine and for non readers even exception, based on most opinions I've heard. But Higurashi was much easier to trim. Obviously you dont have to translate all the school games, and can make what you do translate much shorter (honestly the excess that some of these sections went on for in the VN, while not miserable, definitely held it back for me. I don't feel like their length was necessary to make them impactful to think back on for later content). A lot of the descriptive violence and implied inner thoughts can be represented much faster in an anime than a VN. However Umineko... kind of needs a few episodes entirely devoted to standing around delivering exposition? There's a MUCH more significant chunk of content that does not lend itself to anime as a medium very well and cannot be removed. So yeah it's going to be rough if they do it, but hopefully they can come out of it better than... Deen... Not on this account, though, so that's probably gone forever. Joker's Game is pretty reliant in your interest in the aesthetic. That dry mostly humorless setting can be pretty enjoyable in a mood. Is it, like, actually a masterpiece? Naw, if you don't dig this kind of thing it may even seem down right unwatchable.
