I'm not saying don't wear a mask.

This topic is just for venting because you absolutely hate masks.

You may scream in here, rant, rave, hop up and down, shake your fingers or fists, any of those things if it makes you feel better.

Down with masks!!

Up with skirts!!

You would imagine they would come up with a compromise, like a mask that JUST covers the mouth, and filters anything you breathe out, but you can breathe in from your nose. Would stop foggy glass syndrome, and only be annoying when talking really.

Like, instead of making masks mandatory, make mouth covering/filters mandatory instead.

Maybe come up with a way for a mouth mask to actually change color if you have covid.....instant tests lol...that way you can just see if you have covid and not go out.

Maybe we could train doggos to detect people with covid like they do cancer etc, then just have doggos everywhere and we wouldn't need masks at all.

They're really not.

Just because they don't cause you problems doesn't mean they don't cause other people problems.

Plenty of people complain about masks yet still wear them. If anything, most of the people complaining about masks are likely complaining because they wear them.

Stupid people are the reason why the pandemic hasn't ended.

These are more or less my issues (though not the beard - unless most stereotypical nerds these days I tend to keep my beard pretty neatly trimmed and I've never really had a problem). Overheating and glasses.

Also, they never really seat well on my face, so they're often shifting and I wind up compulsively having to readjust them, which is probably not great because it means I'm constantly touching the mask (and potentially my face) with my hands that have been touching everything else beforehand.

On the plus side, I don't have asthma, so I haven't really had any major problems breathing in them, though I do know some people who have. Regardless of how often adjl posts about how the oxygen level is the same and thus masks don't impair breathing in any way whatsoever.

I generally also say something like "the fact that the sense of having trouble breathing is completely psychosomatic doesn't make it any less legitimate, but it does mean that's something you can overcome because there's no actual physical problem there." I don't doubt that people feel like they have problems, nor do I think that shouldn't be sympathized with. I just also don't let them pretend it's not all in their head.

I don't mind them usually but sometimes with the heat down here it's super hard to feel like I'm getting good air intake. And sometimes they make me feel claustrophobic but I still wear them every time I'm in public.

I hate masks, I can't sleep facing a wall, and if I wear a mask more then 15 minutes it's hard to breathe. That being said I wear them all the time, it just makes it less likely I will go out and do stuff. I had to wear them for hours at a time for work recently and you all can poo poo it all you want. It was horrid.

I work with the elderly so it's neccesary, I'm not saying it isn't. That doesn't stop me from hating the freaking things. The news that we have to wear them again in public even though we are vaccinated is horrible to me. I was planning on taking a few trips (driving as I was still waiting for masks to not be needed on planes) but now I am going to cancel them.

I can't enjoy myself if I have to wear a mask everywhere. I'd rather be home alone without a mask, then out doing stuff with one on.

If wearing a mask is easy for you, and you barely notice, I am truly happy for you, and I wouldn't wish being as uncomfortable with a mask on as I am on anyone.

But yes, I hate wearing a mask, and if it's all in my head, I don't care, my head is screwed up I guess. If I could just wish away how I feel when wearing one i would in a second.

Don't they have rebreathers like that? Breathe in through the mouth (get O2) and out through the nose? I remember that from somewhere but it could have been fiction.

Nah, you don't have asthma. I can breathe fine, therefore no one else on Earth has breathing problems. They're a myth invented by pharmaceutical companies to sell you antihistamines. I'm sure if you just asserted yourself more, you'd be able to breathe just fine. You're really just being difficult about this whole lung thing in general.

I remember we had a doctor come on the the CBC to talk about mask wearing and they said if your unsure if the outdoor area is ventilated enough to go without a mask, light a cigarette, if you can smell the smoke you should probably wear a mask.

Man, it's almost as if different people were built differently and have different reactions to things.

People aren't built so differently that some people can fit oxygen molecules through their masks and others can't. People are built differently in terms of how they feel about having cloth over their face or the irritation of breathing warmer, moister air, but feeling that discomfort and interpreting it as difficulty breathing doesn't actually mean they're having trouble getting air in. If it did, you'd be able to find experimental evidence validating that.

I know you're smart enough to understand the difference between subjective self-assessment and a formal diagnosis based on objective, measurable criteria. To that end, I'm not actually going to correct you, just suggest that you should maybe spend some time in your room thinking about what you've done wrong.
