Thank GOD for tonight's HoH result, btw.

I was so nervous that Brent was gonna win that HOH, and then we'd have to deal with Frenchie's HOHitis continuing.

Like darkx, I hope Frenchie sticks around for dramas. BB16 was boring after Devin left, but I think this house is a bigger mess than that one ever was.

But so far, this season... shockingly doesn't suck. But I said the same thing about BB19 and BB20 after a week, and... you know.

Sarahbeth won the Wildcard and chose to not change teams. Kyland nominated Frenchie and Britini, with the latter as a pawn. Damn. Was hoping he'd put up Brent and Whitney like Tiffany suggested, since those two rather quickly bussed Frenchie. Britini has been dysregulated for like a half-hour since she was blindsided - she was actually doing a pretty good job being one with the furniture so far and... welp. Frenchie can always win Veto, so here's hoping he does and Brent goes up and goes home. And then we can have more Frenching drama!

This is roughly what I'm thinking. I really don't think anyone is that bottom tier has much of a chance. Still haven't seen enough from Britini or Sara Beth to feel comfortable putting them in the middle tier, so they could move up.

I'm guessing there will be little interest, but for those missing Survivor, Australian Survivor screens tonight (starts in a few minutes, I assume it'll be available later). The theme is Brains v Brawn and it's set in the Australian outback rather than Fiji due to Covid.

I have enjoyed a lot of the more recent seasons, so hopefully this is another good one.

Whitney also says things like the Sandy Hook Massacre was faked by the media. That was one of the most ridiculous conspiracy theories I've ever heard. The primary girls' alliance, the Kingslayers, is Claire (founder), Tiffany, Britini, and Azah. Sarahbeth has an F3 with Claire and Tiffany. Frenchie loosely brought Hannah into that via French Kisses. The girls would dump Whitney or Alyssa - or even Hannah - as a cover for the rest of them. There was also some worry about a guys' alliance, but I don't believe the Butchers are actually a thing. Because Frenchie.

It was average at best, and not great editing. If you didn't like the last few seasons, you won't like it. There's potential, but not a great first episode due to possibly the worst player getting an advantage and not using it well at all that you can see coming a mile off.

Thanks for your honesty. I really wish I could care about Australian Survivor - I enjoyed the first two seasons because they were edited so much better and that made it more fun to watch. Everything since then has had numerous problems:
1. Spliced-together confessionals from different points in the game. It's so transparent in part because of the audio changes but it's also incomprehensible and redundant, and that makes it seem so... phony.
2. The amount of women who were edited as MOR/UTR/INV - very few of them were CP because of the misogyny in the editing room is even worse than it is with the US show.
3. There is no overall narrative in a season - only individual episodes. And the transitions stop making sense after a while.
4. Most outcomes are predictable... all while they don't tell you what's really going on.

Perhaps I am simply incompatible with Australian Survivor. It may just be the TV culture Down Under, but I don't know for sure. You would.

tbh I've kind of stopped caring again, because while I don't know what the french is going to happen, I do know it's not going to be comparable to week one's explosiveness.

It's been a while but it never got brought up.

For the S39, S40, and TAR32 DVD releases, they did away with the standard cover schemes that featured 6 of the season's most prominent/popular characters (or 4 most prominent/popular teams in TAR's case) and now feature the full cast, and even ignoring the fact that it's different, they're really ugly (especially S39), and inconsistent too. S39 uses the two tribe shots. S40 uses the headshot of each individual contestant split into genders (women on top, men on bottom). TAR32 uses a full cast shot.

For those of you watching the live feeds (I've tried but it seems like every time I go on they're down or go down shortly after I join), do the other houseguests know that Britini is autistic? And if so did she tell them or did they work it out on their own? Based on the episodes, Azah seems to at the very least realize that she's different in some way.

No this cast is actually quite likable and fun. There is still a majority alliance and the whole house has been going along with the HoH each week so far, but the cast is still making for an enjoyable watch.

Not for that reason. The editing is weird so that you don't get to know people as well as you could, because rather than a gradual storyline, we are getting weekly stories about one big character. It's still early though. But the cast is looking mediocre (maybe):

Travis might have been ok, but he was the typical "bro" first boot, like David from BB15 and Jace from BB17. Nothing special.

Frenchie ate up a ton of screentime and was like if James Miller had power, which sounds better than what it was.

Brent had the most obvious built up to a boot of any reality contestant ever (you don't need to name drop Roger Sexton), which might have been fun for the novelty if it didn't happen the previous week with Frenchie. This resulted in a ton of time being eaten up for one guy who was about leave, just like last week too.

Christian is funny enough more obnoxious than Brent, but people don't seem to realize it. He's arrogant and whiny.

Hannah is straight up a Kardashian clone in terms of personality. I don't know how anyone can tolerate her.

Britini is the most basic person I've seen on the show. She just regurgitates popular things like "YOOOOO" and "LET'S GO" more than anyone, while never saying anything relevant, ever. It's like she had no personality and was a sponge to extremely basic tv.

Tiffany is pretty mixed. She likes the sound of her own voice, but usually isn't very enjoyable.

Claire isn't as clever than she thinks, but it's too early for me to say that fairly since they rarely show her. Typical low-lying gamebot who will strike hard later.

Sarah Beth is a bland attempt at the girl nerd casting, but the most hollow shell so far.

Xavier has the charisma of a professional athlete.

Whitney is inevitably the next character who we get to have as a joke because of how unlikable she is.

Kyland is nice but boring for now.

Alyssa is semi boring/semi whiny...but not an extreme of either.

Azah, Derek X, and Derek F are the only ones that have had any kind of interesting growth so far where I can see the direction going in a positive way, but I can't say I'm really invested in any of them either.

It's still only been 3 weeks, but it's squandered a lot of it with editing, but it could just be to hide a weak cast. The cast just feels like obvious plants mixed with boring people.

From here on out Whitney definitely has the potential to be either the best or the worst character of the season. I'm really hoping it's best.

I think the pacing is a bit slow right now, because no one's made a big move yet, but all the alliances are starting to converge on one another and once real blood is drawn, it's gonna become a really good season.

So I was thinking this morning, Whitney might be, for me personally, off the top of my head, the most physically attractive woman ever between BB/Survivor/TAR. If not she's easily top 5, bare minimum.

I'm kinda "meh" on BB right now but that may change in the very near future, depending on who wins HOH next and what kind of shot they take. I'm now watching last night's episode. I am hoping that the Cookout gets figured out soon, else we're in for a boring season. I really don't like that alliance since it's racist, even if I do like some of its members. I was hoping Christian would use the Veto on Whitney and put up Azah or Big D just to expose that shit.

Survivor SA had a good merge episode but then quickly reverted to boring in the following episode. They're invoking the French version's pairs twist - you win immunity as a pair, you vote for a pair, you play an idol as a pair... but you still vote solo. Sounds interesting! I fully anticipate Santoni to use that as an excuse to get rid of one of the Kiran/Tyson/Wardah trio while taking a Zamba out simultaneously.

I'm through three episodes of Survivor AU. Was heavily encouraged - this is a BIG improvement in the editing department, though the huge cast still makes early episodes hard to follow. The narrative seems more coherent - so at least they've gotten better at hiding edit manipulation. George is the kind of villain I've been waiting a long time to see again. I really enjoy him. I'm not enjoying how predictable challenges are, based on design. Some are more physical for Brawns, others have puzzles for Brains. Given the Brawns' reward wins, I sense that the Brawns will be more nourished, and that may make it boring later. I'm happy that Kez and Shannon are safe, and that KILLER IDOL PLAY already! Though she didn't need it since Big D (no, not Derek F) sided with the girls, as did whoever the fuck Benny is. Also, I don't know why Gavin - would've preferred to see Emmett leave but it's w/e with them bros.

I don't know how I have so much time to watch all this. I'm thinking one might have to go, and certainly not Survivor SA since that's just one hour a week.

This week of BB is meh, largely because the worst possible HoH happened. Christian/Alyssa are all-in on the Royal Flush, and right now, Whitney is just one of those players who doesn't have any real connections within the house, so she's an extremely easy boot. If anyone else had won HoH, Royal Flush breaks down since Chrisalyss gets targeted, or someone else.

But overall, I've liked this season thus far. The first three boots are two douchebags who were never going to be enjoyable characters (and would likely far overstay their welcome), and Frenchie...who probably would've been overbearing if he lasted much longer.

I also don't think the Cookout is an inherently racist alliance. Historically, we've had 22 seasons of the show up to this point and zero black winners. In fact, prior to last season, we hadn't seen a black player reach a single digit placement since BB13 (which started out with 3/14 black cast members...and 2 of them were out pre-jury). So the idea behind the Cookout is racially-based, but it's no different than Sean/Vecepia teaming up in Marquesas: you understand how society works and you have to do what you can to try and protect yourself.

Ultimately, it's just nice to have a season where I don't dislike anyone in the cast (except people who got booted in the first few weeks, for once). It's refreshing after the entitlement alliance of BB22, the racist alliance of BB21, the mactor alliance of BB20, the bully alliance of BB19, and the veteran alliance of BB18 sapped my enjoyment of those seasons for WEEKS.

Also, I remember there used to be a ton of talk about how I make these topics less fun because I'm so negative. This is what happens when I'm happy. The season is largely cast with nice people, it's mostly fun, and this week is the first one of the four that has felt like a flop. It's harder to really get in-depth in discussion when you're enjoying something as opposed to hating it with ever fiber of your being.

To be fair, there haven't been many high points in BB in recent memory. The pre-jury of BB20 and the first two weeks of BB19 are about all I can remember. The H@CK3R// twist ruined BB20 and Paul ruined BB19 so we'll see what Grodner does to ruin this one.

But yeah, the Kings winning another HOH and staying the course made for a boring week. It would've been a lot more interesting with almost any other HOH. Though beggars can't be choosers - pretty much every season of BB has a boring week or three. That's just how things go. If we get a new HOH tonight who's willing to take a big shot... things may be fun again. Or it may just be a boring week with a predictable outcome. That's just how the cookie crumbles. Here's hoping that someone makes a play!

It's still crazy to think we haven't had any black winners yet, especially with how close Danielle came way back in BB3. Now I will say if people start throwing away their personal games for the Cookout I'll start becoming annoyed. This is one of my favorite casts in a really long time and I want to see everyone playing at their full potential.

I will say that aside from the first month of BB21 (which was abhorent), the season was extremely good up until the final 4. I may hate Jackson as a character, but as a player, I think he managed one of the most impressive games we've seen in years.

I'm pretty sure there have been only-white alliances that have never been called racist.

This is the first time theres been more than like 2 non-whites in the house. It's not really fair to call it racist when theyve never even had the chance to find people of the same race before.

Speaking of, there's only 1 chinese person in the house but I'm glad because I can relate to a lot of what he says at times, which I rarely get to feel, but it's also nice that he's not just a stereotype or gimmicky, he's just a cool dude

I don't outright dislike anybody this season. Brent was a douchebag, but the narrative of his eviction was hysterical and made him worth it as a character.

Julie revealing the Royal Flush to Whitney means no pre-jury Battle Back, and I would have liked to see either Frenchie or Whitney back in.
