The glitches with Chenbot are hysterical. Even though the technology used to create her was extraordinary for its time, she's still an android, so she's prone to technical difficulties. Big D keeps fumbling his "I vic to evote" stuff and it's caused a Chenbot error every time.

I am of the mind that since Chenbot isn't even on half the episodes, Clayton Halsey would be more missed. He's harder to replace. People would probably wonder why they ever put up with Chenbot if she were to be replaced with someone even half as awesome as Arisa Cox.

Also, I read that Clayton Halsey was originally Story Producer for Survivor: Borneo - he was on the island to figure out how the show would be edited, the effort which he coordinated back in Hollywood. I thought that was interesting. He was eventually moved to BB3 and Grodner asked if he wanted to do the announcing in addition to being senior editor. He said yes. And him saying "Biiiig Brotherrrrrr" was a marked improvement over the announcers they used before.

Alright, last week was a low point for me, because I was just bored with the steamroll (plus Derex is a great character). But now, I'm back onboard. The fact that the Cookout won HoH, nommed SB with intent to evict, and then actively strategized to ensure she won the coin flip, all to make it Alyssa v. Six Cookout members next week, is extremely impressive. This isn't just "The other side can't win shit, so we'll just plan on winning power every week" like last season. This is actively working to ensure that happens.

Well, Winners at War did kind of limit them on how many people over 50 they could cast. Half of the winners over 50 weren't ever going to be cast in the first place (Richard, Brian, possibly Tom), and I don't think they ever had any interest in bringing Vecepia or Bob back. Tina was probably the only option, and I still have no idea why she wasn't out there.

Finally caught up on Big Brother and I have to ask... what is it about Big Brother that makes it so much easier than in Survivor for a single alliance to steamroll a season, when, theoretically, it should be harder since having a majority does not necessarily guarantee you have the power at every single vote? Four of the last five seasons have now been steamrolls (I'm saying BB21 wasn't a steamroll since even though Gr8ful produced the winner, they disintegrated too early and too many people outside the alliance went too far for me to see it that way). My best guess is that the edit of Big Brother seems to push for alliances to stick together, while the edit of Survivor seems to push BIG MOVEZ, so players in the latter are more likely to do stupid shit just to pad their resumes.

At this point the winner is either Xavier or Hannah, except in the extremely unlikely scenario in which neither of them gets to the end, in which case Kyland (who gets roasted as fuck by the jury no matter who he's up against) beats Azah or Big D. I don't see Tiffany surviving tonight's boot, and I don't see a path for Azah and Big D to get to the end together, so...

I feel like it would have happened organically in the early seasons. We saw Monica get 3rd, Danielle get 2nd, Marcellas get 5th, Marvin get 6th, Beau get 6th, Danielle get 6th, Jameka get 4th, Ollie get 6th, and Kalia get 5th. I feel like BB14 is when the show really started to shift. They started bloating the casts to 16 (or more, considering battle backs), but kept black casting limited to one or two players per season. Plus they started seeming to really go for specific archetypes for black players, while simultaneously casting a lot of white dudebros who would naturally hook up with some basic showmance fodder. Once Derrick solved the game in BB16, it became even harder, because if the winning strategy is to nestle into a mega-alliance, and you're sociologically an outsider, it becomes harder to get into the winning team.

Btw I'm not saying that Survivor and TAR don't have their own similar issues. TAR infamously took 17 seasons to get an all-female team to win (and similar to BB23, TAR17 seemed pretty deliberately cast to get an F/F winner), but here's one that really kinda goes under the radar - unless I'm mistaken, you have to go as far back as Todd to find the most recent LGBT Survivor winner.
