Yeah the entire ending sequence of 5.0 is just incredible. Everything after the 79 trial is top-notch.

Finally got the true Paladin experience.

Soloing the last 30% of the last boss of Saint Mocianne's Arboretum (Hard) when the entire rest of the party has died and is cheering me on from the sidelines.

It's best to let Requiescat drift for 2-3 seconds after finishing your Fight of Flight phase in or to get off the Spirits Within after it's first cooldown, right?

spirits within as an oGCD and doesn't do anything for Requiescat (doesn't cancel the buff or anything), so I'm not sure why you'd want to drift for that.

OK so I think where I got lost here is that I don't have the trait for instant cast spells during Req yet, so I can't weave in SW or else I miss one of my 5 casts.

Looks like that won't be a problem at 80 though.

I have no impression that PLD isnt well liked... I think the jobs that Ive seen the least satisfaction with in ShB were MNK (though mostly pre-rework), SCH, and BRD

PLD: Tank most likely to throw a fit if a fight goes south yet remain to insult the party.
WAR: Tank most likely to be stoned/play as a blue DPS.
DRK: Tank most likely to be a glamourfiend/most likely to leave the party after first wipe.
GNB: Tank most likely to cause your WHM's hair to grey.

WHM: Healer most likely to intentionally Rescue someone to death.
SCH: Healer more likely to AFK in a non-current fight.
AST: Healer most likely to be someone who boosted after Heavensward for quicker queues and not have any clue how their buttons work.

M "Punished" NK: Most likely to have a victim complex, most likely to complain about tanks spinning in circles.

DNC: Most likely to partner with their EB'd healer instead of a DPS. Also most likely to be shirtless. Also most likely to be dressed in a Halloween costume six months out of season.

BLM: Most likely to screech at a healer for simultaneously rescueing them off guaranteed death and not getting healed from a death AoE.
SMN: Most likely to forget to smash utility buttons when robotically firing out the long rotation.
RDM: Most likely to burn LB3 to wipe the raid (please fucking STOP casting Verflashbang.) First most likely to backflip off a fight to their death.
BLU: Most likely to be dead in a city.

My first time doing a raid as Monk was Syrcus and the tank attempting to main was clearly a WoW player who had just boosted.

I'm not talking a little spin, I'm talking full on 360 rotations and run throughs constantly changing directions.

I was livid at the absolute tanking atrocity I was having to deal with until someone else finally started force provoking aggro in every fight halfway through which he apparently did not know how to take back despite his best efforts.

You're overestimating the amount of mechanics you have to be mindful of. 90% of the time tanks don't have to do anything besides spam their combo with the occasional AOE to grab adds.

at least I know not to spin around. I always just stand still opposite of the party and trust my healer to keep me alive only moving if an orange cone is on me then moving back to where I was.

Other than that it's just making sure to use your defensive cooldowns for tankbusters or big damage attacks to give your healers a break

You dont need to know which attacks are tankbusters for a long time; theyre not gonna kill you until party finder level content (also theyre usually the really long casts so you can guess)

Honestly I rarely even use my long defensive cds against dungeon bosses (except maybe some of the ShB leveling ones) since they overall are much less dangerous than trash mobs assuming youre pulling multiple packs at once.

Ya, but it's a good habit to get into to be cycling through defensive cooldowns on dungeon bosses, especially if you have any intention on doing end-game content as a tank.

I play on PC but Bard is what drove me to rebind half of my keyboard from menu hotkeys to additional skill buttons lol. If you're on controller though I can't help you, though it's very important you can see your Bloodletter and Straight Shot/Refulgent buttons.

I think both Stormblood and Shadowbringers give most of the leveling dungeon final bosses tankbusters for some reason. They aren't super spicy unless you're undergeared and I don't even know if they all have telegraphs but things can get randomly spooky so I do try to use them frequently
