I went back to look and it was just wierd presentation issue. In the Endwalker reveal they talked about a new Alliance Raid coming, didn't actually imply they were no longer talking about it, and then immediately slide cut to Pandemonium, calling it a new "high end raid".

It comes with all of the expansions but not the base game. You need to buy ARR.
You can use the same account but you need ARR on PC as well. You can't just buy Endwalker.

Oh, and lest I forget, leveled NIN to 50 as promised. Feels like playing Invoker in Dota, complete with neglecting spells completely like Fuma Shuriken and the ice bind.

I feel I'm likely to drop dagger toss from standard layout at some point to remove keyboard clutter.

I've only really gotten extensive experience in a few jobs so maybe there's a reason for this in ignorant of, but I REALLY feel like the various melee DPS ranged melee attacks, such as dagger toss, should not break combos.

It's already wierd enough that Samurai has the best AoE rotation to begin with.

I could be wrong but I thought Ninja has the best melee AOE, which feels right to me. Super fun too. It's not a "rotation" like Samurai's is but a lot of bursty resource management and excuses to use alternate skills like HELLFROG. Firing off tons of Katons always feels sick.

From what understood, Ninja had the best burst AoE time while Samurai had the best sustain (which, really, burst would typically be more important that sustain for AoE in most content)

Also this is because disengaging from the boss as melee is supposed to be heavily punished, but using cooldowns asap (even GCD ones) should be rewarded. And you can't really plan out where you'll be in your combo when cooldowns occur, especially on jobs like Ninja which involves 15 seconds of dropping what you're doing to spam every resource you have.

It's different by job but generally this works out to it not even being worth it to use the ranged skill unless you're leaving the boss for 2-3+ GCDs (so like, 5 seconds) or have no combo up.

I feel like this is less fair with how many bosses force a disengage in the latter half of XIV. Maybe an out of date standard? Seems tough since removing it would unfairly advantage earlier content where disengaging is pretty much all on you versus all of the time later on where it's out of your control.

I can tell you it's not really an issue in high-end content, outside a few obnoxious scenarios. And the community is very good at coming up with galaxy brain strats that solve mechanics in odd ways just so melee players do not have to leave.

You won't neglect the ice one forever because in ShB it becomes part of your rotation once you get a talent that makes it so that it turns into the best damaging ability when you Kassatsu.

Fuma used to be used when ninjutsu was OGCD so as not to clip rotations but ever since they changed it to be GCD its really only used in TenChiJin. I kinda feel like they should at least like, give Fuma longer range than Raiton so you can maybe use it during disengage sections or something idk. But as-is, it's pretty useless on its own.

I dont play melee but I'm mentally trying to go through this tier's fights to think of times our melee is forced to disengage and not coming up with TOO much!

9s I believe is full uptime though AA/WA can be dicey
10s has first orbs (possibly more than 5s, uptime strat is cursed) and bitch pog 1 (certainly not more than 5s)
11s can be full uptime but there are at least too RNG scenarios that own melee players for >5s
12s-1 has Shiva and Lions which are both highly cursed (though Shiva uptime is probably possible?)
12s-2 is basically constantly cursed, though this fight destroys my cooldown timings as ranged so I think it's just bad for most jobs

So yeah, if they made more fights like 12s (and they probably should!) I'd be more receptive to not punishing melee disengagement but honestly most fights are punching bags.

Yeah they have been doing a lot of annoying jumpy bosses lately. Although, dungeon balance literally doesn't matter and they shouldn't balance design around it.

(edit: well okay dungeon balance DOES matter but they have fixed the huge actual problems that used to exist, aka, the aoe situation and PLD being complete trash)

If it FEELS bad enough that's maybe a good reason but again, that hasn't stopped them from making even more jumping dungeon bosses no one likes!
