Had a 2 second brownout from a storm right after we got rainbow mode less than 10 seconds into the fishing session.

Came back with 5 seconds left on rainbow.

Ended up 1 item short on 2 of the 3 challenges.

This is the madest I have ever been about anything video game related in years.

So here's a question,

You need 4 Blades of Lost Antiquity to get a Defragmented Tomestone
You use 1 Defragmented Tomestone and some other tokens to get a ilevel 520 weapon...

Well why not just let you use 4 blades and those tokens to get the weapon? Why the extra step of needing to get a defragmented tomestone?

Because you can also get the Defragmented Tomestone from Savage, and they didn't want to program an extra way of getting that weapon.

Stormblood Fishing quest was fun!

So far all these Crafting and Gathering jobs have followed a consistent pattern; the Heavensward stuff is both unbelievably boring and also either way too annoying or expensive to complete depending on the job, and the Stormblood and Shadowbringers stuff is much more interesting and much easier to do.

Probably? I've done ocean fishing like four times and don't really know what I'm doing, but I've gotten over 10k points twice.

The boilerplate advice I always give new players is

1) Every class is balanced and viable at any level, play whatever looks coolest to you.

2) Everything is locked behind the main story and the main story gives enough experience to level one class to cap. You don't have to do sidequests unless you want more lore on a particular area.

2.a) Don't skip cutscenes - the story can drag a little at certain points but it's actually quite good overall, and plot points established in the base game get developed in later expansions.

3) Start with the free trial, it has enough content to keep you busy for weeks to months depending on how much you play per day.

Just want to sidebar this one and say you do need to do the BLUE sidequests. It will be obvious what I mean when you start seeing them. These are sidequests to unlock content.

Ugh just like I feared this week it's way harder to place in the top 10 of the TT tournament (impossible without playing other actual players on my server, which used to only be necessary to place in the top 3 or so). Looks like I'm gonna have to get super lucky with platinum packs to ever finish off my collection...

Got both 2B and Diamond Weapon cards today which means I now own every card in the game again. I think they said they're adding some sort of cool reward for collecting every card in 5.55 so I'm pumped for that.

Yeah the reward is presumably driving the spike in interest. I need 8 more: Tidus, 2P, 2B, ShB WoL, Emerald, Diamond, G-Warrior, and Lunar Bahamut.

I just got a couple of those today and I'm not even trying to collect them!

The game refuses to let me win card rolls for the alliance raids! I've only done Diamond once and Paglth'an like twice though so far.

I'm not super motivated to grind them out atm because it'll just make me even more stressed out about Tidus if he's the only card I need...!

I feel like I win the raid cards even with pretty bad rolls. No one seems to want them in the groups I end up with.

Is there anything missing from this list of Timers that I haven't unlocked? Just unlocked Doman Enclave Reconstruction after last night's patch fixed the quest (not sure what that's about yet), which made me realize I could be missing something without even knowing it.

Ah, haven't done anything with Blu yet other than unlock it. I will Likely do that once I have finished completing Omnicrafting, by when time I will have WHM and whatever Physical DPS I choose leveled up to 80 to round those out, which at my current pace may end up being around the same time?

Welp, I just realized after something like 6 or 7 failed windows for one of the ARR rare fish that it randomly has a "!" tug instead of a "!!!" tug like every other big fish in the game!

DPS queue times are for gathering memories or working on Shared FATEs.

DPS queue times = alt tab, turn on the setting that makes system sound effects play even if FF14 is minimized, then go do something else

It just sounds a queue that exists to pair up with first Timers?

I was there only recently, I hate a DUTY (roullete).

Speaking of, this Extreme Trial roulette...THIS sounds like suffering, do people really do Extremes with randos? Maybe Extreme is a lot less trouble when level sync then I've been led to believe.

Did they separate the extreme trials out? Part of the issue with Mentor Roulette is that included those and you could get thrown into random extremes. Because, you know, new players queue for them.
