MCH is easy conceptually and difficult on your fingers. With that said as someone who mains Ninja and is used to pressing buttonz I found MCH to be one of the easiest combat classes that I've played (except RDM lmao).

I will judge jobs by how little I have to look at the screen while running an MS.

Well clipping on MCH is mostly a ping issue, no helping that. And it's intimidating because of the speed of button presses but you're pressing very few individual buttons and it's fairly straightforward.

And I am talking about high level play! From a personal perspective I just got MCH to 80 this raid tier, and due to the weapon dropping I ended up having switch to it from BRD (which I've mained since 4.2). I did as good as or better than I did on my main, and I'm a very good bard! It's just easier.

IMO I will say MCH is hard to optimize and play perfectly. Stuff like managing heat and not drifting drill/aa, bursting in buff windows etc. But it's also extremely forgiving, losing a small handful of heat isn't the end of the world and drifting is only a disaster if you lose a use. But that stuff feels way worse than it actually is and you can still perform very well with those minor mistakes.

The most important part of MCH, of course, is going into BA or Delubrum with 16 stacks of Focus and unleashing... the Giga-Drill.

I know in Delubrum you would use Lost Slash, but that doesn't have the same ring to it.

MCH is a top 3 easiest DPS at worst. An hour or two on the training dummy is all it takes to learn.

Source: I cleared TEA on MCH as well as playing a lot of it on the previous Savage tier.

Can confirm Dancer is pretty braindead. Sometimes you gotta plan out your tech steps to make sure you don't lose buff uptime to mechanics or the boss going untargetable, but other than that, pretty easy.

I mean it's even to the point where it's AOE is to be used on ANY multi enemy situation, including just 2 of them. You don't even have to do basic counting!

The AOEs are also part of the single target rotation, since you have to use the two big damage ones when using Flourish. Being limited to melee range is rather annoying though.

Why not just catch up on your phone when you're not on FF14 and do something that's actually fun when you are instead.

Because the time to reward ratio work out best for me here. I truly do not mind running MS. I run through with ithr stuff, unmute the TV to hear "SUCH DEVESTATION" in Prae, then finish it up.

I don't really get why it's a big deal.

The alternative is Bazja which I just hate altogether and am very much not looking forward to doing in depth.

Honestly a little sad I won't see for the next few days since DRK is hitting 80 tomorrow and I'll be all the way down at level 30 WHM!

It's exceptionally monotonous and not at all fun to run through, and it's structured really weird. If you have a resistance to do the same thing over and over again when that thing sucks big time, more power to you, but I can't do it no matter how good the rewards are.

I haven't hit the last one for Tank obvs, but it seems solid so far though clearly the weakest of the 3 I've done (Magic and Physical DPS). The main guy is just kind of dull compared to what the other two had going on? I do like the WoL Paladin, though.

This is definitely the one that feels the MOST like I'm just going from point A to point B. I can't really tell you anything that happened prior to the level 78 quest other than the cutscene in the level 75 (76?) quest prior.

Oh, it was really good. I think there was a level of expectation set that made it not hit as well as it could have (literally the only things I have heard about FFXIV in the last 3 years is "there's going to be a Nier Raid", "mother fucker's don't know how to not fall off on Titan", and "the Dark Knight quest is incredible"), but it was still far above and beyond everything I've done so far (not hard for Black Mage, Jesus).

I really like how it's a total throughline but very sectioned out, each with their own seperate narrative. With Red Mage you really felt that "well what now?" energy for 60-70 even though that is literally the expansion it released in.

50-60 DRK was the most consistentally good. 30-50 obviously has a great start and finalez though I figured out what was going on half way through. 60-70 was iffy for a while by comparison, but the last quest hits real hard.

I would recommend doing none of those!

You will be leveling far ahead or your required level doing nothing but the MSQ.

However, DO do all the sidequests that have the blue icon. Those are critical. All the plain gold ones...nothin'.

I wouldnt exactly say theyre worth doing, but eliminating all of the icons from the map is satisfying and Id guess that SHINE will feel the same way...!

I was hyped a ton for the DRK questline and it still met those expectations. The final Level 70 quest is probably in my Top 5 story sections in the entire game.

It also gave me one amazing moment that was kind of unique to me.
There's a point where Sidurgu and Myste are talking in Gridania. She elaborates on her past and how they imprisoned her and hated her for lineage. And then this exchange happens:

Sidurgu: "...It's not a sin if someone made you do it."
Myste: "I didn't."
Sidurgu: "I won't let them hurt you."
Myste: "...I know."

Completely coincidentally, during this bit of the conversation, nighttime fireworks started going off in the distance due to some in-game celebration that had nothing to do with the scene. It was completely unscripted and it fit so well. Just nearby, people were celebrating, enjoying life. All while these two were locked in their own world, unable to enjoy or even notice the revelry due to how heavy the conversation was. The conversation continued, them slowly trying to come to terms with each other's feelings, as the fireworks continued on, really driving home how cut off these poor souls were from the rest of the society.

It's a moment that's stayed with me for a while.

As I walk to get this Dark Knight Job Armor, I'm really baffled by the decision to make the final map Aether Points ridiculous in both Shadowbringers and Stormblood. As the last maps they are by default the ones you will be interacting the least with and thus have the LOWEST drive to collect the currents for.

I imagine when I actually start doing gathering instead of just leveling it I will feel differently.

Map parties = you fly around doing everybody in the groups maps to get loot. Every time you do a map and clear the enemies, there is a 50% chance it will spawn a portal to a mini 'dungeon' where you kill waves and get loot, and pick between doors to advance further down or get booted out with more and more loot the farther you get. EXCELLENT way to get money- probably the best way that isn't crafting.

Hunt trains = you've probably heard people going "A/S rank *coordinates*". People organize to go kill large overworld enemies that spawn on timers (and other things- there are some really rare S ranks that spawn when players do really random things and there's a whole portion of the playerbase that loves to figure those out on expansion release) to get hunting seals. Great way to get materia and the tomestones, as well as other rewards.

There's also just generally other overworld content like rare FATEs and gathering.

Do you....gain Culinarian EXP from eating food or something? Why am I level 4??

Well I was going to say maybe you turned in some cooking leves at some point but I don't think those exist at that low level?

I don't remember though.

I've definitely never once done anything as a Culinarian other than unlock it. I don't even have it in my gear list!
