TA has dipped a fair amount recently. I've bought a few of their dips over the past year and have never regretted it.

I like the sounds of TA (might dip a bit more based on pattern) and BGFV (earnings play).

I think you guys might be misunderstanding wash rule. You just carry over the cost basis in that case, you still have the loss it just becomes unrealized

Seems like it's a mix of low Q4 margins and loss of restaurant revenue. The latter should solve itself as the vaccines do their thing, and while TA isn't an oil stock per se, I do think it'll receive a halo effect due to how strong oil stocks have been lately.

I'm actually holding this one through earnings because it's already given an estimate a month ago for a very nice figure. If you wanted to make the pre-earnings play you needed to do it a while ago.

I mean if it goes up enough tomorrow may as well sell I'm just expecting a big pop. Like over 10%

It's easy to move the price on this one. 10% gain/loss days are fairly common. A good earnings call should move it at least that and I think given how the past few have gone and the estimate they've already given us it will be a very good earnings call

If an announcement that the dividend is going up, which seems plausible given the revenue it's been generating, it could really rocket

I'm strongly considering going full Wall Street Bets on it with way out of the money calls that expire 3/12. Very bullish on these earnings and it's a shorty stock.

I have enough puts that i'm happy with my profit even if it jumps up. My highest put is a 40 strike so as long as it goes above that im happy. (I accidentally oversold and just went with it. Almost 15% in it)

I have 200 shares of FUBO

One is tied in a sold call at $50 that expires next week that I won't really mind being forced to cash out on.
One is left open as I think it flying is possible, and if so wanna sell a call on the moon.

But man a stack of $60 calls seems like it could actually print. Just have a feeling about it. Last time I considered doing this was with a stack of $52 calls and it was the beginning of the GME saga and made me $3000 bucks (could've made me $12000 if I played it right but you know, money is money)

I'm annoyed with RKT. It had a great earnings at ATH before and plummeted after the pump and dump. This time, it climbs after another great earnings. I really believe in RKT as a company, and wanted to get in at $19, but I was busy at work when it fell.

Rocket's transitioned into the hype stock phase, where the real money can be made but you have to get in early.

Haven't done the DD to have a prediction where it goes from here though

I don't buy this. You missed the dip short term but I bet a major pullback is in order for crypto before Bitcoin's inevitable run to 100k. Especially if we really do get a bear market soon, which I wouldn't rule out. Short term the stimulus will help us get to 60k, where I sell again for profits and buy back later.

I've been taking extra large positions in crypto lately so this is my game plan. For smaller positions HODLing is probably the way to go, as it usually is for good long term investments. Just too much money to be made from other stocks in the meantime for me.

Hey man, if you can time it well then more power to you!

No one can time the market, I'm just playing with large crypto positions and selling big wins has worked out for me. Always gotten to buy back in much cheaper so far!

My theory is still that there will be a big pullback, that a lot of people FOMO bought crypto and that's why they'll take profits in the short term (and not buy back then FOMO buy again a year later). I'm a believer now, but I want to take advantage of the market sentiment.

So the way I think about this is less "timing the market" and more allocating one's portfolio efficiently. Let me explain. Suppose I have $10,000 to invest. Stock A is trading at $10 per share, and I believe its fair value is $50. Stock B is trading at $30 per share, and I also believe its fair value is $50. Now you might think in this world I would invest all my money in A, since it's the better deal, but I will actually invest most of the money in A and some in B to maintain some more diversification in case A goes bad. Perhaps I'll invest 75% in A and 25% in B.

Now suppose the price of A rises to $30, and while B stays at $30, and I still think both of them are worth $50. Well, now A isn't as good a deal as it was before (I am only expecting a 67% gain from here on out, rather than 400%). In fact, it's equally as good a deal as B. So my allocation should be 50/50.

But because I started off with $7,500 in A, and that has now grown to $22,500, while my invest of $2,500 in B has stayed the same, I am now 90% invested in A! That is way more than the 50% I want. So what do I do? Sell 10k worth of A, and use the money to buy 10k worth of B. Then I will be 50% allocated, as I want.

Notice that there is a solid reason for selling A and buying B, and it is not about trying to time the market. Yet, in practice, it tends to follow the strategy of taking profits on winners when they go up a bunch, and buy more of stuff that's gone down a bunch.

Having second thoughts about FUBO. I dont think I can invest in a stock after its had two strong days right before earnings. Im not saying it cant go up again, just seems like a risky play.

If you doubt a stock, probably best thing to do is find another one that you have more confidence in. There's so many stocks on the market that it shouldn't be necessary to go after marginal plays.
