I really hope this isnt another crash. I dont see why it would be, but the past week or two has just been brutal.

Sunroof I don't want to pry but when you say you invested 187k or whatever thats not like the majority of your savings right.

Cause you should keep cash on the sidelines so that if it is a crash you can keep buying more and more and bring your cost basis down more and more

I'm pretty sure he has cash besides that. He keeps like 90%+ of his portfolio in cash 90%+ of the time.

Also, if it does drop tomorrow he's almost certainly going to stop the losses pretty quickly. The only time that doesn't work is if the stock gaps down so that you have to eat a big loss by the time you sell, or if the stock is illiquid enough/your investment is large enough, that you can't sell without sending the price down on yourself.

I have about $250k in my vanguard account that is meant for trading stocks. I have a separate checking account which is for spending money, and a few retirement accounts that I dont ever touch.

He's not long on a single company. He day trades and swing trades exclusively. He's fine in this market. The rest of us, we're fucked.

But yeah, I'm mad I only kept 20% of my money in free cash and not like 50%.

lot of tinfoil over there. RKT was a "distraction" built by the hedge funds.

But on the counter point, a lot of them flipped their RKT into more GME shares and... it's apparently working.

The thing about stocks is, it's worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. If 99% of people in the world think GME is worth $20 and 1% think it's worth $140, well, it's worth $140.

That's a tiny loss relative to your portfolio size. Be happy that your cash has gotten much more valuable.

Not that the market can't fall further, but look at the sentiment here today. All doom and gloom. Probably a great time to buy. March 2020 was the best time to buy stocks since March 2009.

Well, I really have not had diamond hands on GME. I initially bought at around $20 in December. I sold all of my position at $34 on the way up, and then bought back in between $65 and $100. I sold 40% of my position between $100 and $150 on the way up and then sold another 40% in the $300-$340 area. Bought back in for some on the way down. Then on the second run up, I sold 75% of my position between $54 and $92. People like me are probably a big part in why the squeeze to the 2000+ area didn't happen.

As of the current price, I'd have made about 20% more money if I had just had diamond hands with the original position from December. I don't regret the way I played it though. It would have been way too stressful and also not financially sound from a risk perspective to hold the stock all the way up without selling. It would have been too big a share of my portfolio. And with SPCE imploding over the last 3 weeks, GME is now back to my #1 largest gain.

Considered buying more but $110k is enough

I no longer feel as bad losing like 8k in the past few weeks reading some of these posts

Still well over 2x gains on the year too so yeah.

I actually liquidated a lot of stuff yesterday so I've got some money to buy dips. Feel good about it. Got a 2023 $80 AMD call today at the bottom that I'd be really shocked if it doesn't print. Going to gradually ease into AMD while averaging down as necessary. If I don't average down I'll stop putting more in.

I've lost probably 8-10k this week but a lot of that is fubo puts technically going up in value so its not really real losses until expiration and even then ill prob roll some of them.

I am getting close to starting to dip into margin however to sell more attractive puts though. (I think technically i might be a couple thousand into margin already i'ts not super clear with merill edge but i still have like 100k margin buying power).
