I got a copy of the trilogy on amazon which had both the dubbed and subbed version of all three movies included on one disc. this was a while ago, though. I have no idea if they still distribute it. a lot of times when I go looking to buy anime I find anything more than a few years old is way overpriced because they often stop making the disks, and the only people holding them are collectors.

That's actually awesome that they fixed it after you e-mailed them. Guess it was worth it after all.

And wow you should definitely power through. The final battle is some of the best stuff in the original series. It'd be a shame if you didn't get to see all of the payoff for the build up you've watched.

IIRC the last time you see Amuro's dad in the first episode or two, he got sucked out into space when the colony got a hole blasted in it. While wearing a space suit so he didn't immediately die but that probably still wasn't good for him.
