I saw it, thought something was a little off, and had to rewatch it three times before I saw that Dom had to move his arm to let Gable lock it in (which was Dom's fuckup -- he clearly didn't move enough when being spun in the first place). Pairing him with Paul Hayman was a great idea because it not only solidifies his heel turn, but if he's struggling with a promo Hayman can take over and sell that ice cream to someone in Alaska, and further get him over as a heel. I'm happy with the push Big E is getting, and Apollo Crews embracing his inner and outer Wakanda although he's Nigerian. I've always loved Daniel Bryan. At any rate, I'm seeing 10-25 videos covering the assorted nonsense involving the RKO/Fiend angle, and that's not counting what he might have gone into on his podcast that wasn't posted to YT. Offhand, his complaints included: -The obvious Fiend mannequin being burned at a PPV and people pretending that RKO just killed him (which Cornette completely criticized) -Alexa Bliss's habit of teleporting near Randy -Randy teleporting -Bray's constant teleporting -Bliss's fireball (and he then also knocked WWE.com's best fireball list) -Randy's face mask nonsense Which is just one small subsection of all of Cornette's Fiend complaints. Found out about it via Yesterworld's channel, which I've watched some of because it started getting recommended to me since I watched a lot of DefunctLand (which also got me to watch FascinatingHorror). Oh, and I giggled at AEW's big announced signing being Christian Cage. Yes, he's technically a Hall of Famer, but he's a far smaller name and signing than Show who has been a WWE mainstay for like 20 years. CC has worked the indy circuit (I saw him at a Northeast Wrestling show in like 2007) and TNA. And this is despite liking Cage. I also saw the clip where MJF forms his own Inner Circle (although really it's more like he joined another stable). So is Jericho & co turning face? Or are they just trying to run two heel Inner Circles? Gotta be honest, MJF, Tully, Shawn Spears, and FTR together is probably the closest I've come to being interested in watching AEW. Also fuck Hulu. Fucking shitty ass poorly running interface that can't fucking run half-decently. I really want to start up watching Raw, SD, and even some AEW Dynamite but all three are completely unwatchable in their full form. You need to skip through most of the nonsense. That's what makes AEW Dark so great. The edition before Revolution I think I might have only watched two matches (I think the opening and then Bear Country), which worked out to maybe 10 or 15 minutes in... well, I think it might be close to 2 hours (and a lot of that iirc might have been a Peter Avalon match -- who was so lousy he once made Cody look bad in a match, and Cody can shine just about anybody -- then the ending which was Jelly Nutella and Sonny vs who cares because I'm not watching either of them do anything). Oh, plus I watched some Rhea Ripley matches. Her outfits and general look had me writing her off when I saw her before, but she's surprisingly great. If only they didn't have her fighting competitively against girls half her size which makes her look like shit. Which isn't even a knock against the girl she was fighting, since Io Shirai seems half-decent, but it's like that time Big Show was selling for Rey Mysterio in a special exhibition match. And speaking of women wrestlers, Maki Itoh is fucking terrible when it comes to wrestling but I love her stage presence and persona. Watching her do a long ring entrance while everybody else involved in the match was great... but then Shida swings at her, Maki ducks, and then proceeds to hit Shida with some of the phoniest-looking mic shots I've seen and then some phony-looking kicks. She has a good gimmick, but I just wish she could actually wrestle. I missed the entire four-week season of Fan-Controlled Football (FCF), but it looks like the Indoor Football League, Champions Indoor Football, and the National Arena League -- all available on You Tube -- are going to make a go of it this year, though several teams are still inactive due to the pandemic. Spring football has been a repeat source of frustration for me (see: the AAF in 2019 and the XFL in 2020), but I will keep trying to find a league I can watch while I wait for my Jets to stop sucking. Rewatched The Running Man and Total Recall for the first time in a long time today while I was drawing maps for D&D (another thing that might be making its comeback after the pandemic). I might watch Elevate from time to time simply because it's on YT rather than Hulu which means it's easier to jump through it (and, at 2 hours long with maybe 20-25 minutes of stuff worth watching, that skip is pretty valuable). Oh, and speaking of wrestling on YT, I wound up trying MLW Fusion (#124). The whole thing looks and feels very budget. The recaps were a bit much. The interview segment that got interrupted where you had 3 wrestlers where not one of them could keep a straight face while talking was crap. First match of that was Gringo Loco vs Medina. There was a moment when the announcer says, "What an arm drag" which really should have been "What, an arm drag?" given how sloppy it looked. I'm enacting a 3-minute rule with this. I'll watch the first 3 minutes of each match, but that's it. I like that MLW does a LOT of promos... I just wish that the guys doing them for any good. Ooh, Stephen P. New advertisement. I know him as one of Cornette's sponsors who they've brought on the show at times, including to discuss Joey Ryan's many lawsuits. Kevin Ku v ACH. The book is more dated than the film, although they could update it from game show culture to more of a reality tv angle. Luchasaurus was up against Cesar Bonino or whatever who, despite the fact I know he seems like he can work (from the first tag match I saw him in where he and fucking Peter Avalon where wrestling Lee Johnson (who is just lousy) and Cody Rhodes), I probably wouldn't have bothered watching if he wasn't wrestling Luchasaurus simply because I associate him with Avalon. And it's a shame that Cesar is normally with Avalon because Avalon is just fucking terrible and has no business wrestling. Cesar is okay, but Luchasaurus is the real draw between his gimmick and the fact that he's very agile for a guy his size (although he needs to tone himself the fuck down at times; just because you can do crazy shit doesn't mean you need to do a lot of it. A little goes a very long way, whereas going heavy devalues it) I think the main event of this week's AEW Dark was Brian Cage & Ricky Starks vs... fucking Jelly Nutella and Sonny. I like the Team Tazz guys, but I'm not watching either Nutella or Sonny again. Even the 8-man tag where they were partnered with Bear Country (who I like) was lousy. I checked out on Bray Wyatt years ago, but when I hear him come up on Cornette's channel I often wonder if what I'm hearing can possible be real (like the cinematic swamp match where Braun Strowman was ambushed by... Braun Strowman?!). I'm struck not just by the sheer insanity of learning that the WWE booked a match between RKO & Alexa Bliss, but all of the nonsense in that match (compounded with all of the nonsense before it). And it's kinda annoying because I like Alexa Bliss, I thought Randy was talented, and Bray... well, he's good on the mic, but he's always sucked in-ring. (And in general if you had told me just three years ago that I wouldn't want to see something Alexa Bliss, RKO, and Bray were involved in but I'd be interested in seeing Roman Reigns v Daniel Bryan, I would have thought you crazy.) A lot of this comes back to the larger discussion of what's appropriate when it comes to wrestling gimmicks. The Undertaker very frequently pushed the envelope and was occasionally involved in some stupid shit, but he kinda made it work. Bray Wyatt has gone even further out there and he really hasn't made it work. Partly because he doesn't have Taker's natural intimidation factor, partly because he's a kinda lousy wrestler, and largely because the WWE's creative team forgot that they were writing a wrestling show instead of a movie. Not that anything excuses an exploding barbed wire deathmatch. That's just seven flavors of stupid. However, it's ridiculous that the two largest promotions are focused on seeing who can make a worse product rather than who make a better one. The Wave Master posted... It really is like playing an episode of the show. Obsidian did a great job of making this game as outrageous as possible, and it's awesome. (Canada is a 2D Zelda game!) 2. Some of the in game mechanics, not battle, are cumbersome. All of the farting training sessions are a nightmare, and barely work, and it's a miracle that I was able to finish them to continue the game. Furthermore, some of the puzzles are more difficult to figure out than they should be because the foreground and background are cluttered. Nothing game breaking, just annoying. Overall, it's an Obsidian game. Very well written, but the mechanics hold it back from being great.
