I let my WWE Network subscription lapse a few months ago. (Basically since Summerslam last August.) And I haven't watched a Pay Per View since. The Royal Rumble is the best PPV of the year because of the surprises, and I'm thinking of renewing my subscription for the vent. It is 10 bucks for a PPV. My dad use to pay 50 to 60 for a Wrestlemania back in the mid 90's. Those were not the days. Well; content wise it was, but price wise... No.

Funny thing that. Turns out if you go and make an airplane out of Vibranium, it needs a Starfleet-style deflector dish and bussard ramscoops in front of the engines or atmospheric dust alone is enough to turn it into the most fearsome weapon on the planet on a quick hop from Philly to Detroit when the whole thing tries to land and ends up leaving a crater the size of Alaska when it touches down...

Scarlett and I are shopping, and it's not as fun as you would think. Let me explain.

We go on a tes drive yesterday. It's a Chevy Equinox, and it's a nice SUV. It's blacked out, leather interior, back up camera, built in navigation, etc. But the trunk is on the small side. That's a deal breaker for us because of my wheelchair. I can walk short distances, but for restaurants and other unfamiliar or large places we take my chair as it's easier.

The sales person just slams the trunk door on my wheelchair and looks at my wife and tells her, "See, it fits." For 15,000 grand it better do more than "Just fit" with half of the four pressing my chair into uncomfortable spaces.

Therefore, the search continues. We've been looking for a week and we're already exhausted.

Have you considered an external mount for the chair, like the trailer hitch mount bike racks? Surely a solution for your chair exists not unlike the spare tire mount for a jeep...

My mother has to use a walker, and it doesn't fit in the trunk of her car. So we wind up having to shove it in the back seat, which works but isn't all that convenient.

Did you really need to explain? A lot of people don't find shopping in general fun, and then you mention it's car shopping. The only time somebody might find car shopping fun is if they're a teenager whose parents are buying them a car. For almost everybody else (except maybe people who came into a lot of money), it's not a great experience.

He's basically said he'd wrestle for WWE again even if Vince or "Paul" were still in charge, if they offered him a large enough paycheck.

The real problem is, the value Punk thinks he's worth and the value he's actually worth at this point are two very different numbers, and I don't see any existing company realistically being willing to offer enough to appeal to him. And I don't see him scaling back his own ego enough to come up with a more realistic number.

No matter how much a very vocal segment of the fanbase still clamor for him to come back, I'm not sure a Punk return actually helps either AEW or WWE all that much right now. And no one else is really in a position to afford him.

CM Punk is a far bigger draw than anybody in the company today. Otherwise it's not a matter of "what he thinks he's worth" as it is a matter of it being enough to make it enticing to him because, as he pointed out, as Colt Cabana pointed out, as Jim Cornette pointed out, as others have pointed out, he doesn't need the money. He's not a Brock Lesnar who wants an easy paycheck to cover his lifestyle.

And I'm not sure what kind of money you're even talking about. I could understand not paying him Rock money, but he's at least worth Lesnar or Goldberg money.

As long as AEW's leadership is what it is, literally nobody can help AEW. The only way anybody could help AEW is if they fired almost everybody and started from scratch, including renaming it.

I was trying to think of an answer, but wasn't really coming up with anything. Though Spider-Man was never my main field of expertise - that's more Wave's jam.

Now on the other hand, name an issue number of X-Men from 1975 or so to 1990 and I can tell you exactly what happened in that issue.

I also tend to be pretty strong on a lot of the more major storylines of the 80s in other books (Avengers, Captain America, Iron Man, etc), along with a lot of outliers both before and after, but Spider-Man and DC were generally outside of my wheelhouse.

I_Abibde posted...

It's funny when you realize that the Marvel Team Up and Marvel Two-in-One titles from the 70s/early 80s that were explicitly about two random heroes teaming up together almost always centered around either Spider-Man or Thing.

(And sometimes both!)

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/a/a9/Marveltwoine22.png

If they were publishing those titles today, it would probably be Wolverine in every issue. And it definitely would have been in the late 80s/early 90s, when Wolverine basically appeared in every series ever at least once, usually when sales were flagging a bit (so much so that they've made multiple jokes about it in the comics themselves since then, like Wolverine joking that he's not even sure which team meeting he's at in one issue of Avengers because he's on like every team in the world).

But back in the day, Spider-Man was pretty much THE Marvel character, and Thing was huge. It's kind of funny to see just how much both of them have sort of dropped off since then (even if Spider-Man's still a pretty big deal).

tbh, compared to other weapons, I've never tended to view them all that highly. I've generally seen them as more of a themed weapon for dwarves, vikings, and the such.

From a practicality standpoint, they have many of the same disadvantages as spears (in that they're larger weapons that often have to be held), while not being as OP as spears and polearms.

I'm still alive. I've just been super busy with life stuff. We did get a new car, which was an ordeal, we did get our fence finished, less of an ordeal, but the rest of our house is still not finished; as the giant hole in the south side of my house still persist.

The contractor was supposed to start tomorrow morning, but we don't have enough money from the insurance claim to fully pay off the materials and the labor. Therefore, I have to call our insurance adjustor tomorrow morning and explain we need another 4 to 7 grand to finish the work. That should go over well. Because insurance companies love writing checks.

Anyway, lots of stressful stuff and it'll get done, but it's exhausting.

My instinctive go-to is dual-wielding. Preferably with curved single-edge slashing weapons (scimitar, saber, cutlass, falchion, dao, katana, tachi, etc).

It also tends to favor my normal playstyle - in a lot of games where combat style choices actually matter, dual-handing tends to be all about weaker quick strikes instead of stronger power strikes (especially in games where the dual-hander is basically forced to use daggers instead of swords), and I tend to prefer speed spamming and stun-locks over precision impact hits. It's part of why most of my go-to fighters in Fighting games were usually the female characters (like Chun Li or Talim).

That also goes sort of hand-in-hand with the battle axe thing - the last time I made a Viking-flavored Barbarian character in D&D, I gave them twin handaxes (one of which did extra fire damage, and the other of which did extra cold damage).

Same. I gravitated towards Cervantes and Voldo in the SC series for this very reason (well, that an, undead pirate and, um, S&M gimp thing that is Voldo). Hell, I picked up and mained Pit in Smash Brawl due to his unique dual-wielding and ranged combos.

The lone exception is Monster Hunter, where I like the hammer - extremely slow, hard hitting, and easy to land stuns with,

When picking weapons in a fantasy setting like that, I'd rather just go with a bow or magic and avoid all of that melee altogether (and, on top of that, I favor stealth). Otherwise a spear, staff, etc, that would give me a reach advantage. However, that reach advantage generally isn't represented to the same extent in fighting games, so it's more of a stylistic choice. All the same, it's why I instantly gravitated towards Killik in SC (and Seung-Mina, although I'll mention that I also enjoyed using Talim partly because iirc her shorter height meant that she was less likely to get hit by some attacks)

MH is one of those franchises where on paper it sounds like I'd love it, but I've never cared for the gameplay or mechanics. I think the camera angle (and iirc you couldn't really jump or something?) were two of the bigger turnoffs.

Then again, I played one of the Wii ones and I own a 3DS one, so maybe the games are better on the other consoles.

The core repeating mission concept for gear parts is something I've always kinda enjoyed. I like FF Explorers, for instance.

I don't like or trust Tom Brady and he could somehow win this game, and while my gut is saying Bucs, my heart and brain yell me Chiefs.

Looks like your gut had the right idea, Wave. Disappointing game, IMO, but my father's chili and wings were well worth it.

Oh, I started playing Final Fantasy VII Remake after the halftime show. I still have some Hard mode simulator battles to finish, and that was a better use of my time than watching the second half of that game.

I blame a lot of this loss on Andy Reid for not knowing how to call a run play or how to call a pass play shorter than 30 yards. Clearly the Bucs were blitzing on nearly every play, and having Mahomes sit back there and hold the ball for 5 to 7 seconds was a stupid game plan after the first quarter, and yet he didn't change it at all. He did this same kind of crap in Philadelphia with McNabb and that game too.
