Some interesting IPOs coming up. Im staying away from DoorDash but am liking Airbnb.

You will make good money on both IPOs if you sell within the first month. Airbnb is probably a decent long-term option but seriously fuck that company and everyone in it.

I went through my gain/loss by stock for my trading account (opened March 2020), and here's the list!

The amount of money contributed was $19,417, so that works out to a percentage gain of 43.06%. But, the average amount of time money was in the account was only about 4 months, because I was steadily depositing money from March through October, starting from zero (so the amount in the account was much smaller early on). So actually the performance was about twice as strong as that 43% number would indicate. This is one of the greatest bull markets in history we've just experienced over the last 8.5 months (maybe the greatest, even).

I have had problems before in life with being unable to accept losses (needing to break even), so I am happy that I was able to close so many positions this year at small losses when I no longer felt they were the best choice of investment. TLRD in particular I could have lost 100% had I stuck it out, but I bailed at -30%. Biggest regret is probably GPRO - I had the thesis right, but got in too early and then sold near the bottom to pay some expenses before it ran +120%. Should have bought more shares instead of bailing.

Yup I had one at $45 and then raised it to $52 thinking it would probably rise from the IPO price to open. Can't compete with literally opening +138% though.

And now Doordash has opened. Currently at $194, from the IPO price of $102. Well, at least this one felt overpriced even at $102.

Don't oversell their achievements. This insanity happened for a good reason, but at absolute best they have cured recurrent breast cancer in patients who have already survived it. I say this because when I first heard "cured breast cancer" I was ready to buy that stock at pretty much whatever price.

But yeah, being in on a stock like that would just be pure dumb luck. Though look how long the opportunity lasted to buy it in the 20s!

Also I just noticed something very interesting. 3 Months ago at September 1st, Tesla offered to sell 5 billion dollars in stock. A day later Trump bragged about new records. Then...the market started to crash

So, SPCE (Virgin Galactic) is doing a launch with a human on board on Friday, weather permitting. I have close to 25% of my portfolio in this so I am pretty nervous. SpaceX just did a test flight today and it went well until it exploded on landing.

Yeah man, that's why people in the oncology space are salty about all of the "wear pink" stuff in the NFL, etc. Breast cancer is generally not a terminal illness unless it not caught until stage 3/4.

100% disease-free survival at 8 years IS kind of bonkers the more I think about it though. That's prostate cancer-levels of eradication.

I set a $75 limit order on Airbnb. Lets see if it hits. Currently priced at $68.

There is nothing conservative about this. It's the opposite of a free market.

So as much as I hated paying $95 for what other people bought for $42 because they got to buy at the IPO price, I ended up buying a little of C3.AI yesterday. And I'm glad I did, as it is now at $127.

I set a limit order for AirBNB at $150. It's highway robbery that they're letting the privileged bank clients buy at $68, but it's probably still a decent deal at $150.
