I am considering buying GME at open. But I dunno that I'm willing to pay more to buy back in than the $34 I sold at last Wednesday. Psychologically that seems important to me. Based on how it's doing in Europe/Mexico, I'm probably not going to get a chance to buy back in for anywhere near $34. If it opens above $50 and shoots to $100+, well, I'll still be happy with my 70% profit from $20 to $34. It's not like it's easy to sell at the top, and one could easily wait too long and be selling deep on the downhill side of the mountain.

What's the worst someone here has gotten wrecked on a stock? TLRD went -100%, but I think everyone here got out at a much smaller loss.

Money wise or % wise?
Money wise is I think I told the story how I lost about $7000 almost instantly
It was at my peak, I was in a complete state of euphoria, thinking that stocks only goes up and I am unstoppable
Went all in on a stock before earnings
Earnings were good! It is a dual listed company and actually went up 5% after earnings! the pre market on NASDAQ also looked good!
Then the real market opened and...seems like the US didn't like the earnings
Stock went down 10%.
Now 10% isn't much...but I had so much money inside so it hurt like hell

% wise? I went into a scam Israeli company that said the word "corona" back in February 2020 when every company that said this word rocketed 400% (see IBIO and INO)
I thought I was clever so I went in with $6000. I tried as soon as I got the news that they are going for COVID treatment, but it was already too late and it was +20%. I bought anyway. It was almost the peak, it went up 2% more and started crashing fast.
The stock Still finished like 5% in the green, and then they announced a heavily discounted offering
I lost 20% more
I think it was like 35-40% loss

Biotech stocks never ever again

My worst loss total is probably TLRD. I lost around $600 on that on two shots at it.

Percentagewise it's probably those $2 ATHX calls for around 1k that expired this past Friday where I lost 70% on them (I sold a week before expiration when it spiked a bit so I got out at -$1k instead of -$1.4k). However I made a lot on ATHX earlier in the year so it kinda just offset that.

So I think I finally understand why SPACs are doing so well. They've been talked about in this topic before, but I never really understood their benefits until now. Essentially, they allow regular people to get in on a company going public without the outrageous gap up in price that occurs during an IPO between when the underwriting banks' customers can buy and when the general public can buy. The downside with an SPAC is you don't know what company you are buying, but given the massive IPO jumps we have been seeing, the SPAC success makes sense to me now.

So I bought some SRAC and VGAC. SRAC actually already announced its merger target (a space related company), and there are strong hints that VGAC may merge with Virgin Orbit. I am very excited to invest more in space!

Netflix is the biggest bubble in NASDAQ
More than Tesla
This company has only one product and heavy competition. Disney is going to wipe the floor with them
This is a no-brainer? this is a huge surprise if anything.

KO is a good stock which you can hold for probably decades. Warren Buffett has done that. They've increased dividends something like every year for 50 years.

My biggest loss, both by percentage and dollar amount, was..... also TLRD.

As for Netflix earnings, good to see blowout earnings as it's a sign the economy is strong and this should help other stocks. I gave up a few months ago on trying to play earnings releases though. Felt like every company I bought beat analyst estimates and yet the stock went down.

Moonroof, I'm almost certain you can find 2020 data somewhere - maybe in the area for tax forms.

Streaming in general makes me very uncomfortable long term as a going concern. I don't think spotify or video streaming platform subscriptions make enough money to justify the actual costs of producing content in the way that record sales, box office sales, or advertising did. Businesses are overspending to capture subscriptions to gigantic libraries of content. Eventually, the costs of holding on to libraries of content and most especially producing new content will become too much and there will be a big crunch on spending in the area.

Like, you can say that spending millions on a comedy special or tens or even hundreds of millions on a high budget show or movie is paid for by the subscriptions, as long as it gets someone to subscribe. But does it pay for making MANY specials, tv shows, and movies throughout the year, which is necessary for every platform to keep interest? I don't think it will be. Music streaming I think is already pretty well known for not paying anything to the creators since the subscriptions just aren't enough to go around. Other content industries will end up in the same place.

I wouldn't invest in anything like that long term. But I guess you can always play the short term speculative game just like anything else, since none of that is really tied to actual company value.

I have found as a customer that I far prefer the Youtube model to Netflix. If I want to watch a specific movie, I'll pay $3-4 to rent it and there's very rarely anything I want to watch that can't be obtained on Youtube. Whereas with Netflix, I'm paying like $9 a month and most months I don't use it at all. When I try to find a specific film, usually it's not in their library.

Also, registering my opinion that the Youtube owners got fleeced when they sold it to Google for $1 billion. Youtube would be a $500 billion company today, easily.

Bought a stack of 20 $2 July 16 calls on GSAT. Already up 30%. Doubly nice because they're 1/3 funded by a stack of 10 sold Feb 19 $2 calls on GSAT.

First green market day in a long time that actually feels like a green market day. Up 8% on my total for the day.
