Got a good deal on the Record of Lodoss War OAVs on Blu-Ray. Means I will no longer have to search for the ancient DVD set. Big win, IMO.

I have one of the DVD sets, not sure which. Bought it years ago because I loved what I saw of the series back when Syfy had its anime mornings, but never got around to watching it.

It's also strange how anime has given us so many great-looking takes on Western fantasy whereas America and England, which largely inspired the fucking thing, haven't given us many solid fantasy cartoons.

Been leveling my White Mage in FFXIV lately. Like tanking, I thought healing was something I'd never get the hang of, but it's starting to click for me. The key is to heal as little as you can get away with and rely heavily on heal=over-time abilities.

tbh, if I ever did get into one of the FF MMOs, I think I'd want to play either white mage or paladin.

I just discovered that Bartender, one of my favorite slice of life, is getting an official western release. I swear, with that and more Case Closed releases, somebody's definitely answering my prayers.

Also just finished the White Whale arc of Re:Zero. Subaru is a massive moron for still chasing some rando that doesn't even like him when the best girl is devoted to him.

In my hero academia I think half of deku's classmates don't belong. Their personalities and/or quirks are not fit for a school that is for the best of the best. I know diverse characters make the show more interesting but you're not going to get much diversity if you're looking at a specific subset of people and in this case people who have the most potential to be heroes. They're not going to have useless powers or unambitious people.

Kinda agree. Some of them seem quite oddly specific. Mineta is a prime example I think. I don't get how his quirk could be considered hero material at all, let alone best of the best school.

It's really good for a shonen. They actually talk about interesting shit instead of a 5 years olds view of right and wrong (well sometimes they do) and the animation is awesome. I'm not super into the whole onmyo curse aesthetic but it doesn't really matter here.

Speaking of catching up, Doku Mushi had another few chapters (finally) although again it cliffhangs and the scanlation seems to be showing up so slowly despite the series ending a while ago.

Then Hero? I Quit That had about another 10 chapters, but they were super short and the scanlation on a few was rubbish. However, I learned that apparently (via reference) that the creator also did a novel titled Villain? I Quit That a Long Time Ago, which hasn't become a manhua yet =x The current arc is kinda eh. They teased Lin going back to teach, then immediately spirited him off to an adventure at the Hall of Swords. Kinda wondering how much longer the series is going to go, since if he does get the newly-mentioned MacGuffin (some "miracle" or other that would make one wish come true), he could have a happy ending. It's one of those series that I'm hoping never ends, although I can see it running out of narrative stakes.

Got Persona 5 Royal, so I've been playing that. Beat the first palace, but haven't played after that yet. Two things about the game annoy me and hopefully one gets lightened up later in the game. The eye spacing of characters though, is going to bother the hell out of me the entire time though. It's only annoying every once in a while, but when I do notice it, it's jarring lol. The other annoyance is having a time limit. Hopefully that's something that's relaxed later in the game. Overall though, I'm liking it a lot. It's my first Persona.

Finished up the first season of Fire Force, so I'm taking a break from it and watching a different show for now (100-man no Inochi no Ue ni Ore wa Tatteiru). Probably do the second season of Fire Force after I finish this up.

I despise the time limit but it sort of gets relaxed and sort of gets worse at the same time. It kinda depends. If you want to max all social links without a guide, that time limit is going to be stressful right up to the end and you still might fail. If you don't care about that then you will sorta run out of things to do with your time. You will probably end up maxing all personal social stats like 60% of the way through the game and money will stop being an issue so your time is all spent just hanging out with whoever you want.

New anime season only a few days away from starting. I think some of the shows start on the 2nd. Theres actually too much good stuff to watch. Yuru camp S2 will hopefully relax me. I still need to finish up with the current ending season.

On top of what you listed theres also slime and yuru camp S2, some cool otherworldly yuri anime based off a novel that is supposed to be good. Theres a strange original sci-fi/slice of life with an interesting description that doesn't sound very slice of life at all and the whole thing is mysterious despite being just about to air (called wonder egg priority). We also get a bunch of isekai and hopefully at least 1 will be decent. Got some ecchi. I'm hyped.

Also I guess on topic but I finally got my switch back from sister and grabbed monster hunter gen ultimate since it's on sale and I am a monster hunter fiend. It's honestly gonna be tough going back to the old school style after world but I'm sure I'll manage. Was hoping the e-shop would have more on sale but freaking odyssey, breath of the wild, and mario kart 8 deluxe are all still 60 bucks which is absurd to me. Those games Those games are over 3 years old. Was also sad xenoblade chronicles definitive edition wasn't on sale but that ones newer so I can kind of forgive it.

Had a good holiday, and I hope you all had similar good fortune. The missus got me Our World Is Ended (PS4) and Raging Loop (Switch), and Daughter #1 got me Valkyrie Chronicles 4 (PS4). ... Yes, I know, shame on me for not getting that one sooner.
