I imagine they cover some merch, for the more popular talents and for birthdays and stuff, but outside that, I guess it's treated like an investment. You put your money in, Cover arrange the distribution and stuff and if it all sells, you make a profit.

They all still get a salary and if they're expanding with another five talents for EN Gen 2, that's five more models and salaries, plus managers for each of them. Also marketing, yeah. Getting their songs in games or cross-promotion stuff. And those 3D live shows are probably quite expensive (although, I'd guess the tickets more than cover those).

Yeah, but at the same time when all the big hitters are releasing their own original songs with slick MVs, it can put pressure on some of the less popular good singers.
Their hardcore fans can be asking for it, but they might not be big enough yet to do that stuff.

But yeah she's upper tier for singing.

Ok I see a lot of big upcoming stuff in the near future.

• Holo Alternative MV up soon and the teaser was already hype, so I'm expecting it to be awesome.
• Gen 0 full collab, I don't think we've ever gotten such a stream with all 5 of them together before?
• Coco's finally able to collab with the EN talent, so with Mori on the meme review, I hope it'll run well now that translation downtime will no longer be a thing.

None of them are really standout singers tbh (banana and shirabe are pretty solid generally) but they all did a pretty good job and had pretty good songs. Wonderful Weekend was my favourite!

I suppose it's worth mentioning that i got two albums from Choko, who recently redebuted under her own name as a vtuber. Her own album I Swirl (https://youtu.be/wikvYh-0PPc) was fairly standard denpa fare without any significant standout song in it (if I had to pick, it'd be the Capchii song Rai-Rai-Mirai), but the collab album with composer Rissyuu, Candy Panic Bomb (https://youtu.be/ofOLavTjKZg) was a brilliant shitposty mess of random troll rhythm game songs and would-be ones that was much more memorable overall. The highlight there, ironic as it is, had to be the overtly half-assed long version of Take.

Finally of note for vtuber albums, this arrived: https://youtu.be/-44oigNuiI0 ...which is the second single (or first mini-album, rather) for the StarBear unit in Re:AcT, comprised of Amakawa Hano and Himekuma Ribon. I liked the WUG-feeling standard idol songs in it, especially the titular one that had been used at the end of their 3D debut live concert a few months ago, though my favourite had to be the refreshingly fun stylistic departure of AmaHimeKawaKumaHanoToRibon (which was surprisingly again from Rissyuu).

Also i got a couple of artbooks. One from Camomi Camomi from 2018, detailing the progress she made working on her own 3D model at the time (Camomi's an artist who'd been using her Camomi moniker for quite a while before becoming an indie vtuber (since about... 9 years ago i think?)). And another from bikechari/charioki, another preexisting vtuber artist who happens to be the designer for a whole group of skilled indie creators (meche proche) that he's borderline part of. putting aside the professional singing/voice acting/composing/audio mixing/art/animation skills they bear as a group (plus good taste in games and sometimes skills to complement), they've also got some very cute and sometimes also very technically impressive designs (some with radical angles i'm impressed they made live2d models out of). his art is great and the artbook on them is no exception

Finally, also on a bikechari/charioki note, I got... https://youtu.be/IzIzkPW3K7U the "photos" shown in this video starring meche proche member Houri Mico. She actually wrapped all of them herself with a handwritten thank you note stuck to the front of it. The wrapping was pretty mediocre tbh and i'm surprised it made it in one piece, but that in itself is so endearing i haven't wanted to actually open it.

I don't play Apex.

Is there something I'm missing regarding the lootbox system?
Because when Matusri goes on a gacha pulling stream we're talking 40k-50k USD in superchat donations. It's some of the most frenetic velocity of money pouring in for a non-event stream.

Like, these girls have played other gacha games like Pretty Derby, Princess Connect, GranBlue and so on, but those don't get the big bux. So what makes Apex...different?
It really doesn't look like she's milking her fanbase with these either, it looks like they demand and anticipate these streams with the intention of dropping as much as they can.
