But yeah Miko isn't even the biggest fish in that pond. The Minecraft collaborations have gargantuan numbers(for that space).

That said I'm glad we didn't get something like Markiplier leading Amnesia or Five Nights at Freddies to a victory.

I will say that it got me interested in a few games I wouldn't have otherwise known about. (or had played a while ago and since moved on) IIRC the only one I've actually bought so far, though, is Muse Dash (which IF I AM NOT MISTAKEN has rather ironically since distanced themselves from Hololive)

Mario Kart tournament was way more dramatic than I had anticipated.
I thought it would a fun bunch of zany moments like the Minecraft sports festival.

Instead it had a ton of high drama, with many tears as a bunch of them started sobbing.
Lots of practice and effort didn't produce the desired results and some got some real nasty luck, but it did show how competitive some of them could get.

MK tourney beated, had a bunch of reaction comments straight through qualifications and losers cup but a bit tired by Winners and just splitscreened Aqua (because beast) and Okayu (because skilled bias)... maybe post comments tomorrow when more complete and I can watch Luna+Pekora in the Winners Cuppp

of the streams I watched I'll just say for now...

Aqua: champ... at heart... even if I was routing for Okayu anyways, Aqua was a fierce boss
Okayu: legit top tier I wanna see another chance for :(
Polka: polmao... although ended up kinda fine~... for her
Marine: I just think about the MK64 4th place cutscene... until Winners Cup happened woah
Luna: feeling so bad for her sickness combined with that 1st race horrible luck... but turned out really good for the rest of the tourney! Winners Cup portion pending, but results-wise she did great there too!
Watame: complete chill, coasting along to a last place rank for her Block but then she's just coasting the front of Loser's Cup!
Miko: very surprisingly legit... until things go wrong
Rushia: just utterly cursed

watched Lamy & Pekora too but mind is blanking now and maybe i splitscreened too much at a time. Still gotta see Pekora's Winner Cup portion too!

... shame Choco was has no stream because wth was she even doinggg. also wanna see Rosenthal because during-race I'd see her in the middle yet whenever results came... consistently just bottom to all but Choco

i found her through this project winter collab some time ago

and started watching her properly a little bit before she released the preview for KOMUGI MAXIMIZER (the 2nd original song). not long after that she had her ver2.5 model reveal as well as her first (and only) part of her Super Mario Sunshine playthrough and that was when i got hooked i suppose.

She had 0 english fans back then and only around 500 subs, but i don't know how popular she was then on iriam so maybe not really that obscure overall

what i do know is she's got near 6k followers on there now which is like, top 1% of the streamers there i think and there's at least several hundred active (many of which have been there for a few years...)

By the way, all the other people from that project winter collab are very good as well. Amakawa Hano was the one i was following at the time that lead me to the rest, and I still watch her pretty regularly

Context here, Miyabi (who has something ridiculous like 20 thousand hours in FF14) hasn't been able to play, or at least stream, FF14 at all since Holostars was banned from doing so like a year and a half ago.

He decided to stealth "collab" with his friends on other channels every time new endgame raid bosses came out. Unfortunately though, the last time that happened back in mid-December, they took a full 80 hours streaming it and got caught. (which uh, may be my fault. i didn't share it here but i did on the Holostars discord fan server...)

Miyabi was then definitely no longer allowed to play so everyone else likewise decided to switch to other games like FF7R, PSO2, even stuff like GBF...

Recently though, right around the time of that endwalker announcement stream, Holostars finally got approval to stream it, opening the gates for not only miyabi but also shien to stream it, who has also been getting into it lately... But they haven't yet and i suspect that this was the reason why.

NolcaSolca was in Miyabi's raid group and free company (guild) and was the sole member that hadn't debuted as a vtuber yet. As of this evening though, this has changed, so obviously this opens things up that much further.

Either fairly soon or at the latest when Endwalker launches, I suspect there's going to be a lot of FF14 transpiring, which is pretty cool since Miyabi's vtuber raid friends are also pretty cool.
