Today's brawl:

First opponent is a druid. Plays Jade Idol.
I play pogo, coin, pogo.
Druid instantly concedes.

I laughed pretty hard at that. Although it's looking like most people don't have an answer for pogo.

People are already running multiple cards designed solely to beat pogos, but pogos are still going to farm people who just want their pack.

What beats pogos, out of curiosity? I can't think of a card you can play for cheap that's going to do better than 2-for-1, or that's going to both kill them and create a board presence. I think there's a minion that kills target mech, but it's much too expensive. Best I can think of is maybe you do Frost Nova, but you'll run out of them eventually, and it's awfully hard to ping your opponent to death. (An opponent who can also ping you with the rogue dagger, at that.)

Just block them with Kobold Sandtroopers.

Earth Shock is fine, just rely on the Shaman vs Rogue cards.

Not sure if it's the same now, but at the start people playing Frost Nova seemed to be saying that the eight class cards were enough to give you the win in most games since you could actually attack with any minions you got from them.

Nerubar Weblord is a literal coin flip.

Some silence/transform cards also pretty much turn the game into a coin flip, Demon Hunter seems to be the best option as they have a higher quality class card overall.

Ice Block and Time Out stall the game long enough that no one really wins.

How do kobold sandtroopers help, exactly? Aside from the fact that they cost 2, it takes multiples to stop every pogo past the second one. Either you or I are thinking of the wrong card.

I didn't consider Earth Shock. That's a reasonable choice. But then the game's a straight coin flip, assuming you don't get outdrawn by the rogue. So ~50/50 to not get outpaced by the rogue and then 50/50 to get stronger cards on board. (Maybe a little better than 50/50 on the latter since shaman cards are probably stronger for board presence.) Doesn't seem like it's in your advantage, so much as it's just not a guaranteed loss.

Weblord is funny. That works.

Silence just leads to use getting pecked to death by 1/1's unless the silence is on a stick, and then it costs too much and you're dead before you can play them.

I currently have a 7-1 Arena run on NA and an 8-0 Arena run on EU going. I've been finding the mode to be enjoyable and other than BGs easily the best mode for a F2P. Meanwhile, I play constructed for the quest with a F2P deck against a 10000 dust Druid deck and my opponent's turn 5 is to play a 4/4, discover a spell, gain a mana crystal, clear a 6/6, deal 1 damage to another minion, deal 1 damage face, and draw NINE cards. I cannot fathom why people enjoy constructed more than Arena other than the fact that Blizzard obviously couldn't care less about Arena. The game would be far better off if the attention they spent on a game mode that has clearly failed in duels was instead spent on making BGs and Arena better.

To be fair to constructed (just kidding constructed sucks), I did just corrosive breath my own minion for lethal to finish the quest so that was nice.

I'm not looking to complete all of the achievements because there's a dozen or so I just don't have the cards for, but this one specific achievement is so dumb I feel compelled to get it.

It would help if more than one out of every twenty people understood what I was doing and tossed out a spell at the end of their guaranteed win.

can you earn achievements like that in friendly matches or does it have to be a "real" match?

In addition to ranked they can be completed in duels, but I don't think the odds in duels are any better.

With a full board my opponent played Devolving Missiles and hit the same treant all three times. The game was already over but that's definitely still the ol' salt in the wound.

I'm pretty sure this means I can finally disenchant all of those golden basic cards. I think this makes me happier than anything else announced.

Edit: Also, this apparently means I should open the classic packs I've been sitting on while waiting to see what happens with the classic set.

Turns out the basic cards are still "free rarity" so you can't enchant them or disenchant. They aren't class level rewards anymore so instead they'll be provided to new players as soon as you unlock Wild mode.

So nope you still can't disenchant the golden versions it seems.

Not sure why you would ask for help finishing those mate, not much anyone can do for you there.

To be serious though, only one requires wins so you can concede through the other one pretty quickly now that there's no longer a life total threshold for these things.

I liked all the ones on the first sheet, but ultimately went with hunter because I used to have the giantstalker gear. (And because I'll sometimes play hunter.)

I picked Priest only because it's the class I play the most. I actually didn't care for any of the portraits that much, Jaina was probably my favorite but I'd rather use Medivh.

Ever since I hit legend the win 5 ranked games a week quest is such a chore. I swear it takes me like 2 hours just to win 5 games anymore. I don't know what happened

...that said, I did complete it this week on Monday when I went 5-1 in my first six games in wild. Was playing nothing but draw cards and the two Druid cards from the latest set that summon treants to work towards an achievement. I ran Vargoth as well to double up on Arbor Up summons, and with all the draw it was pretty common to play the two on turns 4/5. It was almost like I was playing an actual, real deck.

I tend to get every bet incorrect when I play him. Especially in the early game when ties are prevalent.

Ran into a Warrior bot in wild today that just tanks up over and over to grind exp, which was great because I was working towards the achievement to deal 180 with lifesteal weapons that's supposed to be for Paladin but works just as well in Demon Hunter. Perfect game to just smash this stupid bot in the face over and over and over. Twenty minutes later, I check the achievement to see how much progress I made.

Zero.

Should've read the achievement again recently instead of just thinking I remembered what it was, as you actually need to restore the health with the lifesteal weapons unlike Il'gynoth. Oops.

I've been spamming a bad DH deck in casual to try and get my level up to 60 for all the gold cards, in case that matters with the rotation (it's not supposed to I think but not clear).

The deck that's cleaning up in casual is big warrior, though. Don't even have all the cards (no Kargath, which means I need to cut the "draw a rush minion" card too). But like...it's got control tools for aggro, and cheats out enough big nonsense to threaten warlock. I haven't lost yet with it I think? Bit of a surprise to me.

I've been doing pretty well in ranked with OTK Demon Hunter. It eats aggro because of all of the healing and it beats (non-warrior) control because it has a 48 damage combo with no counterplay and draws through the entire deck in about 10 turns.

Tried taking big warrior onto ladder, went 0-2 losing to a priest who stole and copied rattlegore and a rogue with sinister strikes; noped back to casual with that deck.

I don't know of a single person who enjoys the current prize meta. Whenever they finally get rid of those it won't be soon enough. Blizzard wants hero imbalance, but they should at the very least remove or change the bottom 4 or 5 heroes and get rid of Khadgar and Amalgadon. The biggest thing that they desperately need is a PTR. If the excuse is it takes time to test balance changes and you don't want people to have to adapt too much then take notes from the leader in the genre and implement a PTR. If they did that and got feedback from the top leaderboard players/streamer then they could improve the mode so much.

12 wins in Duels with DH feels good! I took my first loss at like 1 or 2 wins and then my second loss at 10 wins.

My passives were Rhonin's Scrying Orb and Emerald Goggles. Goggles is super powerful on DH in particular and it virtually guaranteed my first few turns would be powerful.

They mentioned something like this being in the works, or at least being inevitable, some time ago on Twitter or Reddit. I guess it was closer to happening than I was expecting, though.

I haven't watched anything yet, but this gives me hope that there's going to be a Nozdormu that doesn't create problems twice every year.
