Ugh that was rough. We actually managed to avoid what should have been a token, routine elimination... and it ended up being one that knocks the wind out of the season.

The Will & James vs. Leo & Alana storyline is gonna dominate the rest of the season most likely which is just... ugh it was a nice first 5 episodes.

Nah, they'e great.

Anyway Mana, next two seasons suck IMO. 11 (the original All-Stars) is rock-bottom for me. But then after that you hit a stretch of mostly good seasons before hitting another stretch of bad ones.

Im about 2/3s of the way through 10 now and yeah...its not great. I am admittedly sort of excited to watch 11 merely from an academic perspective, even though Im expecting a train wreck. I saw bits a pieces of it when it aired, but mostly bailed after episode 4.

12-14, 19-22 and 25-30 will all be new to me, while 15-18 & 23-24 I saw live, either in whole or in part.

as much as i hate 9 it still might legitimately be the best season out of the whole 8-11 stretch, that's how awful they are. easily the best team from that stretch debuts in 10 though

Just popped into the thread after watching the latest AR ep a 2nd time since I wasn't 100% focused on first viewing - I had NO IDEA how Michelle and Victoria were eliminated despite being so far ahead (or the blondes so far behind).

Like I was thinking this is one of those cases where there's something else that happened behind the scenes that didn't make it into the episode, an extra challenge or something? Even though there was a double roadblock so I guess that's unlikely but still. Just boggles the mind.

I like the blondes though, so I'm happy they're still in, though Michelle and Victoria were a pretty entertaining team... like I'm really wondering if there's something else that we didn't see or if it was really like, 6 1/2 hours in the car. Even though we saw them ask for help. That's like an all-time collapse.

According to this interview ( https://www.goldderby.com/article/2020/the-amazing-race-32-michelle-victoria-exit-interview/ ), they were tired, couldn't get a straight answer from anyone, and expected the museum to look more grand than it actually did.

Don't forget this is the team that searched for 36 minutes for a clue that was right next to the U-turn board.

1. TAR5 - Colin & Christie
2. TAR2 - Oswald & Danny
3. TAR1 - Kevin & Drew
4. TAR3 - Teri & Ian
5. TAR9 - BJ & Tyler
6. TAR7 - Rob & Amber
7. TAR6 - Gus & Hera
8. TAR10 - Dustin & Kandice
9. TAR8 - Paolo Family
10. TAR4 - Jon & Al

The best moment this entire season happens at the very end. Tyler & James just won and Phil says "How would you like to celebrate with your family?" It pans to all the eliminated teams looking shocked, Tyler & James are excited. Then Phil pulls out a fucking sponsored Sprint cell phone and lets them call home. Amazing.

Anyway, as expected, this season isn't that great. It commits two cardinal sins - it's boring, and most of the cast sucks. Or at least aren't very rootable. Even Dustin & Kandice I wouldn't say I love - though I did come around on them a bit near the end. Tyler & James were...fine. They're just so boring, but I didn't really mind them winning, especially over Rob & Kimberly. Rob is such an unbelievably whiny tw*t. I love that the end sort of came down to them getting into a cab without an EZ Pass. Lyn & Karlyn were very up and down, mostly down for me for the majority of the season. I really wanted to like the Cho Bros, but the whole six-pack thing was an abomination, and them actively sabotaging themselves was unbearable. I also do not understand the appeal of David & Mary, but I'll touch on that later. As far as the earlier eliminated teams go, they were mostly bad or mediocre, though I do kind of wish Duke & Lauren made it farther, I think they had the potential to be interesting.

I figured I'd to a little discussion of the All-Stars cast too before I start that up. At first glance, I think it's mostly alright. Bill & Joe, Kevin & Drew, Danny & Oswald, Teri & Ian, Charla & Mirna, Uchenna & Joyce, Rob & Amber and Dustin & Candice are all totally reasonable choices, it not outright good ones. Eric & Danielle is super weird for sure, but I think Eric himself is a fine choice too. If this was Eric & Jeremy I don't think anyway would have batted an eye at their inclusion. I don't know what casting decision went into that choice, if Jeremy wasn't available or what. John Vito & Jill and David & Mary are the baffling ones to me. Even David & Mary I guess I can kind of see why the show would want to try and shove them down our throats again, but on what planet are John Vito & Jill worthy of being on this season? I think if I was casting this season, assuming absolutely anyone asked would come back no questions asked, and keeping the gender balance, I would have gone with -

Kevin & Drew
Tara & Wil
Teri & Ian
Colin & Christie
Linda & Karen
Charla & Mirna
Uchenna & Joyce
Rob & Amber
BJ & Tyler
Eric & Jeremy
Dustin & Kandice

Uchenna & Joyce were the 11th team I added here, and I think it could have gone to a few teams - Kris & Jon maybe, Chip & Kim, Flo & Zach. I decided having another winning team there would be better and season 5 was already kind of stacked (for good reason). I don't think 4 and 8 necessarily need any representation, and 6 doesn't really either. Obviously some of these weren't viable for various reasons, so this is fantasy land. That being said, the cast we did get was actually fairly decent for the abortion the season ended up being.

Apparently Phil wrote down 15 teams, handed the list to casting, they picked 10 and added Eric & Danielle.

The other 5 teams on Phil's list were Ken & Gerard, Kelly & Jon, Kris & Jon, Dave & Lori, and Colin & Christie. Another composite team that casting considered were Flo & Drew (of Derek & Drew), who were dating at the time. Flo turned it down because she said she would only return with Zach.

As for TAR10, the six-pack was so unbearable. It was so annoying to see teams wait for each other as if they weren't even in a race, then bitch that the people who actually were racing seriously were always winning. I do find it both hilarious and depressing that Lyn & Karlyn were the first F/F team to make the F3.

Dustin & Kandice were the only team left that I liked after episode 6. The season would've been done a huge favor if Bilal & Sa'id, Duke & Lauren, and Peter & Sarah had gone a lot further, and it's especially annoying that the former two teams got eliminated by dumb shit.

Don't have my full list on hand but those are my top four.

dustin & kandice largely just did their own thing, which was somehow a cardinal sin in that season. the whole waiting for other teams to be nice was just goddamn annoying. and i think the alliance in this current season is dumb and annoying, that was by far the worst it's ever been

also it just made me very happy that after seasons of successful alpha-male teams and cookie-cutter "we're going to flirt to win" blonde girls that dustin & kandice were super-competent and just kind of kicked ass. casting women has definitely gotten better since then (for the most part) but it really was goddamn nice to see how good a team of super-strong alpha-ladies could run through the race like all the legions of boring dudes since rob & brennan in season 1

obviously though, a (generally) boring pair still won season 10...

Mama C, Tyler, Max, Kelly and Nina are probably not outright awful people IRL and were not overly offensive on the show.

Survivor is currently looking into filming 41 and 42 in the Dominican Republic if they are still not allowed to film in Fiji by early 2021.

Also, because of CBS's new aim to make all reality casts at least 50% people of color, some people that had already been cast for those seasons are being cut and a new round of casting is taking place.

Which makes me wonder how they're gonna handle TAR33 when it resumes given that it literally already began filming.
